Louis van Gaal | Manchester United manager

I know Van Persie loves van Gaal, but I think he is also praising him every chance (giving him 100% credit) so that potential transfers will listen.

How refreshing that next season we'll have a manager who is up for the tactical side of the game after the shite we had to put up with last season...

"Hmmm a energetic Liverpool side - hey i know i'll play a 4231 with 2 of our most immobile midfielders! Just like all our other games where we've lost this season"

I don't think we need to do that. Every top player in the world will have just witnessed what LvG is capable of.

Exactly. Netherlands, while having a far inferior squad/first XI to Spain, have just blitzed them 5-1 on the biggest stage. Just because we have a worse team or are in poor form compared to other clubs we may meet, it doesn't mean we have to play all out defensive like we saw with Moyes. LVG has just shown that.

Wow ! Very exited about the LVG appointment after watching that demolition of the best team in Europe . I was worried about the big name players we have been linked with signing new contracts or signing for other clubs but after seeing that performance I'm putting all my trust in him . I'm really a pessimist at heart but its hard to not get exited to know we have got somebody after SAF who actually knows what hes doing . Roll on august !!!

So could we line up like this next season?

---------------De Gea---------------
Rafael--Smalling--Jones--Evans--Evra
-----Carrick----Mata----Fellaini----
-------------RVP----Rooney-------------

????

Teach Valencia to finish and you could play him up front with Rvp. Valencia is the quickest player in the world. Maybe he's wasted on the wing.

What the heck was SAF thinking when he signed Moyes instead of Van Gaal last season

Anyways also lets wait a bit before getting too excited. Its just one game. No doubt Van Gaal is a class manager though. But we do need two world class CMs.

I want to change my user name to "van gaal's balls".. Loved they way almost every player hugged hime. :D

Oh ! By the way ive had a tenner each way on chile to get to the last 4 so LVG might av fecked me up but who cares !

I don't mind if he signs the whole Dutch team after that game today.

But seriously, Blind looks like a pretty competent left back. He can fill in at centre midfield as well....

Moyes would've been downplaying expectations before the game 'tough start' 'aspire to their level' 'Sir Alex would struggle with this team' etc.

Where others make excuses, Van Gaal makes magic. Can't wait for him to get in the United dugout.

So how many honours will we win next season? I'm going with all of them.

In all serious a result like this is very good for us, just a reminder of what Van Gaal is capable of and just how good a manager he is for prospective targets who might be a bit weary of our lack of CL football and whether we will get back in it next year.

Imagine had United management failed to fire Moyes and sign van Gaal, this forum would have gone crazy after seeing the Netherlands' performance.

I'd say the scousers are starting to feel a little nauseous again after witnessing tonight
The hype and excitement around him at the moment is very similar to mourinho in 2010 when he won the treble and then in the summer left for Madrid.

Would love to see this kind of counter attack at United next season! This is the most excited I've ever been watching a national team.

Too early, but I think it's time to give some credit to Woodward. Lots off Jokes flying around about Woodward, van gaal hasn't won anything for us yet but he looks a top tactician/motivator.

Go Team Woodward.!

Calm down you spackers, it's one game. No one was proclaiming Scolari as God after Brazil defeated Spain in the Confederations cup. Let's not forget this Netherlands team made it to the finals last WC....

This Dutch team is not at all the same squad as four years ago

Let's all calm down please and wait till after Spain play Chile, then we will be able to really say how good this result is.

I'm happy to have LvG as our new manager and Holland played really well, but things might have looked a bit different had Silva made it 2-0 when he tried to chip the keeper. I'm just trying to keep a perspective.

Van Gaals post match interview was brilliant. Very calm and understated, almost never cracked a smile.

He put the emphasis on how during the whole qualifying campaign he only selected really fit players. Sneijder was stripped because of captaincy and not selected sometimes because of that. He said fitness was going to be very important in Brazil and selected with that in mind. Made compliments to the players for training and preparing so well and that they are really fit.

About tactics he also said that he knew in advance that Spain would keep attacking, and therefore a lot of the time it would be Pique - Ramos playing 1 on 1 against RVP and Robben, so he thought it was logical we scored so many if Spain took that risk, with the qualities we have, because they were always going to attack.

A lot of players, like Janmaat, Blind, BMI, Cillesen and De Guzman played their first matches at a big tournament, some of the players in the squad have never even been to South America and are very inexperienced and were a bit nervous, that is why we had a dip of form after the penalty. But during half time LVG said he gave some advice/solutions and the team looked way more confident on the ball after the break.

Against Australia it might be a 4-3-3 he will apply. Against Chili tonights system perhaps. He realises this result means nothing if Australia gets a result against Holland.

Definitely IMO - though you would want to improve the midfield.

I've wanted us to play 3-5-2 for a while now, our wingers are so poor and all our best players are central that it doesn't make too much sense to persist with wingers.

The other option is the diamond - which Fergie tried a few times - but I feel that this suits us more.
