Paul Pogba

In fairness he did have a right to blast Ferguson in the past simply because he has proven to be the best young midfielder in the world by a mile yet Fergie played Rafael and Park in midfield instead of him......That's the equivalent of being a professional plumber whose wife calls in a part time painter and a part time brick layer to fix the broken boiler tank because her husband doesn't have enough years of experience fixing boiler tanks.....

If you're going to use that analogy, then you should probably say that he has no experience in fixing boiler tanks and the only experience he has was twice with a boiler simulator (league cup) and he didn't fix the boilers with enough confidence to put your full trust into him trying to fix your own boiler.

I think it was more personal from SAF and not for football reasons. Rafael in midfield is just pure crap. The result proved it also. Pogba may have had an attitude and ego to match but you don't go on to become the best young midfielder in the world by luck. He had this in his locker and in every reserve game he looked a million miles ahead of everyone else. Two understandably nervous appearances would not make the best manager in the world choose a rash right back as a central midfielder. The club dropped a bollock big time.

Perhaps SAF knew he was set on leaving regardless. His agent is an enormous twat.

The big mistake that Fergie made, was not not playing him in that match but not taking him on the summer tour. If he had gone on tour, Fergie would have trusted him sooner.

Fair point but Pogba is obviously riled by that one match as he has talked about it publicly.

End of day that's gone. More pressing concerns are about which midfielder we will be buying which I definitely do not believe will be Pogba!

I understand where you're coming from, I just find that this much bitterness is toxic. It's not like he was a major player when he left and no one really cared that much at the time.
I wasn't always that bitter. I then look at our current midfield and go Hulk-mode. He would have solved our problems. (I'm a selfish man when it comes to our club)

At times I think the same you know but then again it's just self inflicted torture  Part of me says he still would have been "protected" by SAF and he wouldn't have developed as he had at Juve.

He won't be coming back. We've got more chance of luring Vidal though.

I don't know about that. He's older so if he does move, it could be his last move to another big club. If there is a choice between Barca/Real or United he will pick a Spanish club. I think Vidal really loves Juve to the point that he has Juve tattoos and I can only see him going to Spain. Pogba can essentially move twice due to his age so moving to United doesn't rule out a future move to Real. Pogba has history with United and his brother still plays in England so it would be easier to settle in.

I also think Juve would be more willing to part with Pogba because of two reasons. Vidal is the better player right now and Verratti to Juve is still a possibility.

Having said that I think both players will command similar money. Anything is possible so I'll never rule either player to United out.

Juventus has a long history of selling the 'older' talent in favor of younger players. They can be ruthless in that regard. Back in the 90s they sold Roberto Baggio who was just crowned world's best player of the year in favor of a younger Del Piero. Ravanelli was cruelly kicked out of Juventus in favor of a young Christian Vieri, while Zidane to get their hands on Buffon, Thuram and Nedved. That's how Juventus work. They develop players and sell them at their peak in favor of younger players.

The only way anyone will get his hands on Pogba is by giving ridiculous money. The Verratti option is tempting but big money must be involved too. However if they had to choose then they rather sell Vidal then Pogba.

Why would Pogba even want to come back? He's got to feel that the money will be there wherever he goes, so why fecking Utd at this point? I'm not willing to say that we have hit bottom yet, if this transfer window is a bollocks the vulture sheiks will start circling the Glazers and that may not be a bad thing.
This is really getting old, and all I can do is watch Utd on tv. If I were a ticket hholder I would be livid.
Pogba? pah, dream on.

I long for the day he can play a game of football without someone bemoaning him leaving United.

He's been very good, but I think Matuidi has been just as impressive. Combined well with Evra and provided penetration and energy. Plus, Pogba's petulance slightly tarnishes his performance.

Sir Alex biggest mistake.
That's debatable really.

As for Pogba, you win some, you lose some. He is having a good game indeed. The opponent is piss poor it has to be said, worst team at WC as of now.

Sir Alex biggest mistake. What a player he already is.

Not signing Zidane from Bordoux
Picking Moyes as his successor
Rock of Gibraltar nonsense
Not replacing Schmeichel with VDS in 99
Replacing Stam with Blanc
Signing Bebe without first watching him

Most of these are worse to be fair.

Those are worse at the moment yeah. But give it a year or two and Pogba will be right up there with those other feck ups.

To be fair I think you might expect those sort of comments on a United forum. The whining about him on here though is tiresome I'll give you that.

Looking back the worse one was the Rock of Gibraltar fiasco because that led to the Glazer takeover and since then we've never achieved the heights that we should.
We should be right up there with Madrid in terms of European cups and Prestige.

Signing Bebe isn't even in the same ballpark.

If you want to crucify Fergie for spunking loads of money for very little return, why not go with the biggies like Veron or Hargreaves?

This Pogba debacle is excuciating, to be fair. I have absolutely no doubt my life would be considerably happiver over the next 10+ years if Pogba gave up professional football tomorrow to take up curling instead.

At the time, Fergie was more concerned about winning and beating City to the title than giving a young player like Pogba a chance. When he brought back Scholes it was clear that Fergie didn't want to take the risk of playing an inexperienced Pogba. Can't blame the boy for seeing about his career. Most of us would have left too.

I think that is harsh.
Since 2005 (When the Glazers took over)
We have reached the final 3 times, semi finals once, and quarters twice
It's not Fergies fault that the period we built up the current team to their peak, coincided with Barcelona, Messi & Pep. (Who we lost to in the two finals we lost)

It's undeniably frustrating that SAF would let a young player like Pogba go, in a position that we're badly craving quality. Especially considering how much faith he showed in lesser talents like Cleverly and Welbeck. English or not.

Fans have every right to be pissed off at this blunder IMO.

Because of the debt the Glazers saddled the club with, combined with SAF's unwillingness to spend in his latter years has left us in the state of affairs that we are in now.
The Glazers have never brought anything to the club, they just take. I would never credit their ownership with any of the success the club has enjoyed since 2005...it was all SAF.
Last season in particular should have shown us that.

Pogba is a great player and whatever you read about him or in interviews, he surprisingly comes acress well enough

Great player, absolute ponce though.Yeah its a bitter view ,but he wanted out because he wouldnt take counsel from one the greatest manager in club football.

The crying over him is so sickening, was the same in the newbies,we offered him a contract <even when he was acting the ballbag in the reserves>and he told us to beat it. simple.

Give me 60 million and ill show two midfielders established and more suited to us.

He attitude reeks. just look at his haircut.

Beautiful.

When Pogba is 30 will you guys still be moaning about United losing him? Very good first World Cup start for him. In him, Matuidi and Cabaye they have one of the strongest midfields in the tournament.

Go on.

As in player wise?

Carvalho i think wed get for 30,defensive minded with a forward passing ability that seems to want his team to drive on<from what ive seen of him>.Or strootman for 25 maybe.

And Gundogan.

Pogba can come to Manchester no bothers, and fall short in yaya shadow if he leaves.I actually want that to happen.
