m8 tom clevz looks like a legend compared to sneijder atm

Please don't use text speech, it retards those who use and read it.

Because I ain't talking about 2nd half nor stupid ref' decisions. The point is Spain was the better side after RvP's goal, they could have done something different in that first half but in Chile match, they were completely beaten. I agree with Mourinho here, Chile is the most impressive team in this group ...so far. We'll see in the next round

xavi was playing v Holland, he is much better than alonso

That's a bit unfair considering LvG won't have RVP available.

His press conference was great today

Haven't seen one with English subtitles, but I'll post it if I do.

Listening to a manager that actually discusses tactics, attacking football and game plans is so refreshing. Last season, we didn't, at any point, hear anything related to tactics or what direction the manager has for the team. Nor was it even asked by the press. Just luck, or trying to improve. Boh.

That was probably the most disappointing aspect of Moyes. Not once did he mention what he was trying to do, but that was the problem Moyes never had a footballing philosophy, it made it worst watching the likes of Martinez, Ancelotti, Guardiola ect....within months having their teams playing their brand of football while Moyes kept making excuses about getting to know his players.

I miss Moyes with his little pudgy face and funny excuses. I hope he gets another job.

Looking forward to the dutch mentalist, should be a fiery season! Move over Mourinho, you're just about to be out-nuttered.

We can't forget his press conferences, the words "try" and "hope" were always a guarantee. His going to be waiting a long time if his holding out for a club in the Champions League.

Mourinho has become boring with his press conferences haha.....seems like his time at Madrid has sucked the life out of him  but Van Gaal still has that swagger looking forward to him yelling at journalists.

I don't like his character entirly and there remains an uncertainty wheater we will cause problems with our board by his autocratic approach. The most positive I get out of him so far is the change of mentality we will have in management.

No more "we try to", back to a more positive / confident approach. Hope he now gets the transfers right!

Reports from Holland that van Gaal is trying Kuyt as a left wingback and he'll be playing in that position today. If this works..

Really? I know there was talk of him going up front today to cover van Persie's suspension. Maybe Blind is moving into midfield or being rested for the next round.

Still, a winger who does the dirty work in tracking back being given a go at wing-back...maybe this is Antonio Valencia's next role? (albeit on the right obviously).

Not only that, but absolutely noone in the press, among the pundits, etc. mentioned even once (at least I didn't read it) that Moyes never talks about tactics. And even when he used the word "philosophy" he never ever defined it. He kept talking about his "ideas" for next season/long term but never ever explained them. All he said was he watched Bayern and liked how they play through the middle. Well, 81 crosses against Fulham say Hi! I still get aggressive when I think about it! 10 months and NOTHING about tactics or philosophy!!! Not by Moyes, not by the press. But ofc both the press and Moyes couldn't wait to blame our players whenever possible. Great approach!

Interesting. If true I guess he wants Blind next to Nigel.

They have just had 26 years of a man ruling everything from the top down with an iron fist.

I am sure they will have no problem with Louis.

Nope, according to Dutch Media.

Blind will play in the 3 centerback position. De Guzman will be replaced by Wijnaldum and Lens will partner Robben upfront.

I'll be interested to see how Blind does there. Chile look good so he'll be tested, possibly coming up against Sanchez in their inside right position.

If we do target Blind, his versatility could prove a useful attribute for the squad.

I wish VG and Mourinho were not friends. Imagine two off them going against each other in press conferences, total entertainment

Van Gaal accused FIFA of dirty ‘tricks’ and a lack of ‘fair play’ by claiming the fixtures give Brazil an advantage because they will know the identity of their likely second round opponents by the time they take on Cameroon.

But Scolari angrily hit back at suggestions his side would do anything other than try to beat Cameroon.

'Some people expressed a view that we were going to choose who we were going to play. Those sorts of comments are either stupid or ill-intentioned, I repeat stupid or ill-intentioned,' said Scolari, raising his finger.

'We have to play to qualify, not pick and choose our opponents. It was FIFA who chose the kick-off time,' Scolari told a news conference.

When the matter was raised again by another reporter, Scolari said: 'You are putting emphasis on somebody who is talking nonsense.'

The Group A winners play the Group B runners-up on Saturday, while the second-placed team in Group A meet the Group B winners next Sunday.

There are legitmate non-footballing reasons to have Group B first e.g. if they had Group A first it would be a 5pm kick off here which translates to a 1pm kick off in Brazil when quite a few people might be at work. For the sake of allowing as many Brazillians to watch the game as possible it can make sense to have their match in the evening.

The talk so far from LvG is encouraging. All I held on to from Moyes time was when he stated he wanted to "build a young and exciting team". But I was just as frustrated with the total lack of vision and that we never heard how he wanted us to play.

Just wondering has Sir Alex given his thoughts on Van Gaal's appointment?

I love the "us against everyone else" mentality LVG puts on things including this latest debate about kick off times.

That shouldn't matter. Why does the opportunity for the Brazilians to see a match outrank everything else?

Nope....

According to various reports and Mitten, Fergie is losing more and more influence at the club on a daily basis and Fergie is not taking it too kindly
Thought so just wasn't sure, I remember Charlton welcoming Van Gaal though.

With his Harvard job he'll be distancing himself away further I'd imagine.

He can't really complain can he? His appointment of David Moyes was nothing short of incompetence. He can't be trusted anymore.

True if it was his decision again we'd have Giggs as manager.

Probably because they are hosting it. I don't think it should matter but I suppose stuff like TV ratings for the big matches (which in Brazil is all Brazil matches) matter to FIFA and their World Cup sponsors.

Makes sense...but the guys in the studio just said when Brazil play its a half day working day for the country. So there goes that legitimate reason...
