I refuse anyone would think £32m for Vidal is "over the odds".. especially on the day we sign the biggest sponsor deal ever.

We aren't in any position to negotiate lower fees. We have to pay over the odds without CL Football to get top players.

Unfortunately Ducker said in an interview earlier that as far as he was aware we weren't pursuing him and the rumours were way off the mark. Gutted if The Mail are right for once, how on earth could van Gaal not want him? I mean he must have watched our midfield last season right? Add to that Arsenal have their big signing in Sanchez and Chelsea will be stronger with Costa and Fabregas and it really doesn't make sense for us to not want him at just over £30m. Really hope it's bollocks but got a bad feeling now.
 
Either there is something to this whole knee injury thing, some story was claiming we asked up his medical record and maybay we didn't like the outlook on it. However much I like Vidal, I do not under any circumstances want to be stuck with a Hargreaves 2.0. It is either that, or the Daily mail is full off shit again, or the club and LVG are total idiots.
 
Tbh I would have thought we may have heard something a bit more concrete by now. Best source so far is a toss up between a Nigerian rapper and a poker playing radio host? Not one reliable or even semi reliable journo has anything to say about it. I was quietly confident this would go through but I'm not sure at all now.
 
Money is not an issue, we paid 30million for an 18 year old, 32million for one of, if not the best CM in the world is a steal.

Sounds like we're just trying to save a few quid, Woodward up to his old tricks.

Yeah, I remember a couple of weeks ago posters were saying that nothing less than £50m would get Vidal.
If it is off I guarantee it has something to do with his fitness/knee

AS broke the Herrera news. Daily Mail just jumped on the bandwagon.

I agree with you that we may not be as interested but don't believe that from the Daily Mil.
 
If anything happens with Vidal (good or bad) it will quickly be reported by several reliable sources. The Daily Mail and Mirror do not count as reliable sources in this or any other context.

No point in tying yourselves in knots over reports by outlets that probably posted a contradictory story yesterday and may do so again tomorrow.
 
The lads over on the Juventus forum all seem to reckon its a done deal. They're citing some Di Marzio tweet that was apparently deleted by him that says he wants a move or something. Have yous found out what they're on about and whether its true or a load of turnip?

As witnessed by the two signings we actually have made this summer? Both deals could not have been more 'off' at certain points according to journos probably a lot more trusted than Simon Jones.

There are literlay no words in english grammar to describe how gutted I'll be if we don't get Vidal, there better a very good fecking reason for us not to get him...

Well with Herrera and Shaw they basically came out of nowhere and all of the sudden BBC and SkySports were reporting it was a done deal. Like many other posters have said, I don't think we're leaking any info on our transfers to the regular journos like we did last summer. Everything seems to be on the down-low. And with all of the chatter in Chile at the moment there is definitely interest on our end.

Also an article in the Mirror claiming we won't be held to ransom.

Two articles in quick succession isn't a good sign. Something must have been leaked, whether it's just bullshit or not, I'm sure we'll find out soon.
 
I will be very, very surprised if we sign Vidal. We've signed a younger player who does, basically, the exact same thing. I think we're still in for a midfielder, but someone in a Carrick mould whose younger and can compliment Herrera.
