YESSSS Mitten has spoken.

If i had to gamble my house on wether we sign Vidal or not. I would gamble ''WE SIGN''

Be done soon this!

Boys and girls, I've said it all along - we've got this.

It's so different to last summer. We had a Moyes who was renounded for taking an age over transfers plus a very inexperienced Woody.

Now we have Lord Van of Gaal who has been there and got the t-shirt when it comes to big name players/transfers, plus Woody has got used to playing the transfer game. The Lord will appoint our new King of Vidal in the next 7-10 days I reckon and we'll see him holding up the new Utd jersey, smiling at the camera, saying how happy he is to join one of the biggest clubs in world footy, and how he's "excited by the new project which is ongoing at Old Trafford".

Am I on RAWK?

He is a United fan first and foremost. Probably the only good source that we, as fans, can look to

United We Stand is a Manchester United fanzine which first appeared on the streets of Manchester in the autumn of 1989. It was started by 15-year-old fan Andy Mitten, great-nephew of the former Manchester United winger Charlie Mitten. The first issue sold 100 copies, but it developed to become one of the best selling football fanzines in Great Britain.

I seem to recall him writing columns in the official United magazines back in the late 90s and early 00s. Or was he the editor of that? I can't quite recall. I learned about the club from him as much as reading books by Alex Ferguson, Keane, other history books etc.

I take everything he writes or blogs seriously. He's no Indykaila, that's for damn sure.

Mitten also said a while back that we felt hummels was the closest to being completed. It's promising news though.

Wouldn't say Mitten is 100% (I vaguely recall him getting some stuff wrong in the past) but he is by far the most reliable source I've seen reporting this so far.

Watch all the Twitter wankers who said it's off do a complete 180 after seeing that Mitten video. All the shit newspapers will probably follow that lead too after saying it was off 24 hours ago.

Why do big signings always become a saga for us? Other teams seem to identify a target and just go all in to try get them. We stand around negotiating over what is probably chump change to us. I know it's probably the right thing to do (negotiate) but I'm a muppet for this one summer only and I want my muppet dream to come true
It's not only us anymore. Even Madrid aren't getting it easy anymore, took a long while to get Modric and Bale signed and I expect Rodriguez to take all summer.

I'm unsure anyone is all that reliable as of now, Mitten said himself the club are keeping their cards close to their chest. We're briefing nobody.

No he said that after Shaw who was going to be wrapped up most likely after the WC, we felt we had the best chance at getting Hummels out of other targets or closest to him. He again reiterated last time that Hummels was open to a move and expect movement after Germany and Holland's WC is over.

Though obviously his value may have gone up now, and Dortmund won't be easy to deal with. Let's see they seem all out celebrating right now.

To me it seems like Woodward is taking the opportunity to try and deflate prices in regards to us buying players generally. He knows teams may try to make us pay over the odds (ie PSG, City prices), and so he's getting stories out about us taking a look at Vidal's knee and using it in discussions with Juve to lower the transfer fee. I think Woodward knows Vidal wants to come, van Gaal wants him and that Juve will sell. It would also make sense for Vidal to return to Juve and push a little bit for the move (privately). There is little contention for Vidal's signature and it's a good time to tell other clubs we won't pay over the odds, which is striking because Vidal is one of the best midfielders in the world.

I expect this to be done tbh. As people have said, we have paid big amounts for Shaw and Herrera. Woodward could easily say that Shaw is 18/19 and therefore his price is higher, whilst Herrera had a buy out clause. Vidal is on holiday anyway so it makes no sense to conclude any deal now as he wont link up with the team anyway, which would have been the biggest benefit of getting players signed early on in the window.

If he doesn't sign I wont be too upset either. We will find another player who will do a good job for us as well. Hope he does sign though, obviously.

For those wondering, Vidal signed an extension last December until 2017 if I'm not mistaken thus I seriously doubt he would be using the club for a new contract. Furthermore, with Juventus' wage structure, I doubt they would pay as much as we are on weekly wages. Rooney is not even our best player and he's getting rewarded 300k a week ffs.

He also said that he has some very good sources and they are positive we can wrap up a deal.

Mitten didn't say the deal is done, but i am sure if this doesn't happen loads of manic kids will bombard him with needless abuse and question his credibility.

Have I ever told any of you that Andy Mitten is who I would be if I could be anyone in the world? Well, he's my 2nd choice.

We should make a movie 'Being Andy Mitten' where we can jump into his body and live his life for a few hours

This is why believing every word the press say is not advisable. They are briefed what clubs want to make public. Juventus briefed they won't sell unless for a high fee. United briefed they won't pay over the odds. The clubs basically use the papers to negotiate.

Mitten's sources also told him it looked likely that Thiago would be coming to Manchester United too. "Almost done".

Best not to assume anything until we hear proper confirmation. All it takes is for another club to swoop in as they did with Lucas Moura and suddenly everything changes.

Correct me if i am wrong but Mitten is the only one who has actually interviewed Ed Woodward ? And that was in detail regarding lot of things including last summer's mess.

Everyone who's "connected" thought that and by all accounts it was close.

Going by a few reports, it was "almost done" until Moyes decided not to take sign him.

I think most would agree it was, until the plug was pulled!

And that might have been the case back then just because we haven´t signed him doesn´t mean we were not close to signing him. As he said in the video we are working on a deal for Vidal but there are a lot of things that can make the deal fall through. There are negotiations going on all the time and just because a deal doesn´t happen it does not mean a reporter is wrong when he has said that we are trying to sign someone.

That's what he specifically emphasised in the video. Lots of things can affect the outcome of a transfer so that's why he's not going to confirm VIDAL DONE or anything like that. What he said was that Vidal was open to a move and United have got the money to buy him.

Evra signed a deal in LA 3 days ago for Juventus as per Di Marzio and has a letter for United fan's ready too apparently.

So don't get what's the hold up there.

Well something clearly isn't finalised. The further he has gone personally, the better IMO - if we've given him permission to agree and sign terms with Juve and they are just waiting for us to hand over his reigstration, but we aren't doing so until Vidal is done and dusted, that would totally imply that both parties expect it to get done, and it's just a question of thrashing out the details.

Am I being optimisitic enough here?

Yep....He's also the same guy who reported the clashes and split between the players and Moyes all last season, before the information was reported in the press.

Yeah he did interview Woodward. He might be wrong on this but he doesn't push his info all over the place like most other "ITK's" do, he never looks for retweets or any shite like that.

As per Mitten it was Guardiola who hijacked it and assured him of playing time as well, and we stood no chance.

I don't remember him ever saying Thiago was almost done anyway.
Just because Thiago ended up at Bayern doesn't mean United weren't confident of doing a deal. That's just how transfers work. Anything can happen at any time. It's the same with Vidal. Andy reckons a deal can be done but that doesn't mean Vidal is nailed on for United because some other club might come in for him or whatever. It's a point he emphasises in the video.

Until I see him posing with the jersey, I'm not getting my hopes up.

Having said that, I would be very very annoyed if we refused to pay £34m for him considering we paid £30m for Shaw and Herrera. Vidal is worth £54 million. £34 is a steal for a player like him.

What did mitten say regarding vidal?
Does it really matter, he is just another source, with another view. Maybe, better informed but who really knows.

Tomorrow LVG starts at Carrington, so I would expect news to be more forthcoming. I would be surprised if there is no interview and as he is likely to be honest I expect him to say what his plans are. Will he name players, doubt it, unless they are a NO.

I would also expect if we are close to anyone, we will sign them very soon as a PR exercise for LVG.

What did mitten say regarding vidal?

  • Vidal does want to come to United, he is at a great club, but 'United are bigger'
  • Negotiations are definitely taking place
  • He does think a deal will be done
  • Though says a lot needs to be sorted out IF it happens
  • United keeping cards close to chest
Also..
  • United really want players who want to come to the club. Herrera was distraught last season, they knew he wanted to. They also knew Shaw wanted to come in January so that was important for the club.
