Not necessarily. If they are now resigned to selling him it's possible that it'll be the the of the PR exercise where they concede that he could be moving for whatever reason suits their narrative.
Not sure what they could say in as public a forum as a press conference that wouldn't loopsk terrible for Juve though. Best we could hope for IMO is them refusing any questions on departures.

What'll happen in 3 hours is that he'll make some kind of vague, lip-service comment and wanting to keep the best players and everyone will flock to this thread to say "It's off, lol muppets, cocks in"

Agnelli: Hi SAF, I called you because Lippi is on holiday and told me that if I need a quick advice I call you
SAF: Erm ok
Agnelli: Well I have this guy Vidal. He's a bit old and has a knee problem so I was wondering if I can find a replacement for him.
SAF: truly?
Agnelli: Yeah, do you know of a quality midfielder who can replace him?
SAF: Hmm Manchester United got one and guess what? He's a Belgian International. We spent 27m on him last year and he can play as defensive midfielder and as an attacking midfielder.
Agnelli: So he must be good eh. However I presume you wont sell the guy right?
SAF: Well we dont usually sell our stars but Juventus has always treated us fair. Maybe we cant arrange a swap deal. We take Vidal and you take Fellaini?
Agnelli: Sure. Feck Im getting a United top player who can play in so many roles!!! Conte will be thrilled!!!
SAF: Erm it would be better if you don't tell him about it. Let seal the deal and then you can give him a surprise right?
Agnelli: Great!!! I am sure that he will love it.
Good one m8

just hope the journos keep torturing Allegri until he cracks and tell us that Vidal is defo leaving and we have agreed to buy him and its going to happen today.

Got to agree with this.

They cant come out and say a fee has been agreed. Thus making it completely obvious why Conte left.
What they can say is that they will not be selling the best players, wether they mean it or not, this place will go into meltdown but could be used as a tool to push up the price.
They can also refuse to answer questions relating to transfer speculation which is more probable if they are willing to sell but would rather save face in the short term.

It really wouldn't.

Juve will drop the predictable "best players not for sale" rhetoric to save public face, and they still might end up selling him. Clubs do it all the time.

You are speculating just like me. A coach like mourinho did squash doubts over a potential player leaving recently. Anyway the point is I hope it gets cleared, can't deal with days and days of uncertainty.

Unless they've actually agreed a fee with United they would completely undermine their negotiations if they said he's definitely on his way out.

If they have agreed a fee with United then it's game over. Can only be a matter of minutes before the transfer is formally announced.

Yeah sorry I'm going on the assumption that everything has been agreed. Which I think it has and is the reason why Conte quit.

Was thinking if Gundoggan was available and then checked..... apparently put on a LOT of weight and cant train. Career could be toast

Please don't try your hand at comedy!

Allegri won't talk about Vidal. He's just been put in charge of Juventus and will have plenty to talk about without going into Vidal territory.

devilish I think you need to have shorter phone conversations in real life.

Agnelli: Hello is this the Luis Van Gaal?
LVG: Yes this is me Luis the Man Utd manager
Agnelli: I need the football players now
LVG: Ashley Young is really good lol bantz
Agnelli: Is he as gooder as Heskey the greatest
LVG: F*ck off devilish

I thought I'd wake up and see this wrapped up, instead I find Arsenal on the verge of signing Khedira.....What is life? :wenger:

Bebe don't hurt me.

My thoughts too.

After last night it really feels like a calm before a storm again. The dust is settling, I can imagine something will happen once Allegri has had his conference, I very much doubt his first confirmation to the press he will say "First up, Vidal is off" he will want to start on a positive note.

I can definitely see him say "we have received no offers for Vidal and he remains a Juventus player" or it will be along the lines of "Vidal is enjoying his holiday and nothing will be decided until I have met him and had a chat" Similarly to how Moyes only mission was to keep Rooney I could see a similar thing for Vidal, unless of course it was indeed the reason Conte left.

Any word from Juve's new manager yet? He's obviously not in the good books of the Juve fans right now, so I'm sure if he was asked a question on Vidal he won't be able to lie and say "Vidal is definitely staying", unless it's true of course. Saying he'd stay, and then Vidal leaving would just make it worse for him so I'd say his answers on Vidal will give us a clear indication on the situation.

Pointless getting your hopes up. He'll give the standard responses of "I intend keeping him/We want the best players at this club/I've only just arrived so I haven't considered that yet/I'm not going to comment on why the previous manager left, I'm just happy to be here".

As someone mentioned above, the only way we'll hear something different is if a fee is already agreed, IMO.

I don't think Guardiola's a big fan at all - Vidal doesn't seem his type at all, he's not a passing tidy midfielder operating in tight spaces making 150 passes a game but a box-to-box with lots of energy and desire to make things happen. Besides Vidal has said that he won't join another German club out of loyalty to Bayer Leverkusen back in 2010 or 2011 when Bayern wanted him and he went to Juventus instead despite them being significantly weaker at the time.

As for Real Madrid, I think they'll tie Kroos up in a matter of a couple weeks and then move on to the next flavour of the month - Rodriguez - to replace a perfectly good Di Maria as well as look for a forward to replace a perfectly good Benzema. They're not going to replace Modric with Vidal IMO.

Just wanted to say that there was a time Fabregas said he would let someone kill him if he joined another english club other than Arsenal. These things don't matter that much.

This is kinda similar to the early days of David Moyes - trying hard to get a marquee midfielder (Fabregas / Vidal) safe in the knowledge that if it fails we can always go back to their old team (Everton / Holland) for a deadline day signing (Fellaini / De Jong?)

GUYS HAVE ANY VIDAL GOOD NEWS?

Press conference today is almost 100% to be about the new manager with little else mentioned. Anything beyond that would be a bonus. Hoping for a bonus, but not expecting.

If they mention him and say he's not for sale and there have been no discussions with United about him - it's a sign that the deal is very close to being completed.
If they mention him and say he could indeed leave this transfer window - it's a sign that the deal is very close to being completed.
If they completely ban any questions about Vidal - it's a sign that the deal is very close to being completed.

Sounds about right..

Why we now need are

(1) A working stream of Agnelli's presser
(2) Someone to translate Italian
(3) A tube of lube for when Vidal gets brought up

Have this been posted yet? Nothing groundbreaking or anything, but worth a read.

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/artuto-vidal-says-he-hasn-t-spoken-to-louis-van-gaal-yet

Pulling the quotes out of that, which I am sure have been posted in here before: "I have a contract with Juventus and I'm calm. I hope to get to Italy and see what happens. I've never talked with Van Gaal."

It really is classic "I'm not going to say anything to suggest I don't want this transfer to happen but I don't want to piss off my employers either".

If this wasn't happening, he'd have said "There is nothing in the links with United" or words to those effect. He only signed a new contract at the end of last year and is contracted with them until he is 31. He has no leverage on them in forcing a new, bigger, deal.

I'd like to know why they are against Vidal.
The reasons are many.....I just couldn't bring myself to love a man who is responsible for:

Wasting my time all summer and causing a massive lack of productivity,
Causing pain to all caf brethren logging in and finding he's not signed yet,
(Just in case he doesn't sign for us) - being a potential person to cause heartbreak to our feelings,
Not signing for us during the world cup,
Going on holiday and not signing for us yet,
Not having a United tattoo,
Not being scared of Woody / Van Gaal enough to sign for us yet,
Turning me (potentially) into the Jew with his nose pressed up against the Christian families house's window glass on Christmas Day (should he sign for Real or PSG or stay at Juventus and Pogba goes to Chelsea),
and more reasons which are too painful to list here
