They probably want us to go for 'cheaper options' even though we are absolutely loaded!

Liverpool have gone for 'cheaper options' hoping they will come good for 20+ years now. I don't want us to be a Liverpool mk.II.

Vidal is worth every penny.

The fact that Allegri has been appointed/unveiled so quickly at Juve makes me think Conte's departure is to do with getting another job elsewhere rather than Vidal or Pogba being sold under his nose. Hope I'm wrong though.

Who is taking over as Italy manager?

if thats their reason, then fair enough.

Im going along with all these big money moves but I cant say Im enjoying it. We have officially sold our soul

We've signed 2 young players, which is in line with how we ideally have done business. It just so happens that those kinds of players cost more than they used to. Over time, we've also made 'marquee' signings once in a while also - Ferdinand, Ruud, Veron and van Persie all spring to mind. Meanwhile, SAF always tried to go out and get top-of-the-line players like Ronaldinho, Sneijder or Desailly. These are all just examples - nowhere near an exhaustive list.

Whether we ever had a 'soul' to sell, or whether we've gone about our business in a way different to the buy-them-all approach we saw from Chelsea, City or Madrid (we have), isn't really relevant. We're operating the same way we've always done, regardless of whether or not we buy one or two finished articles this summer.

Not to mention that even sploffing 50 million quid on Vidal wouldn't put our spending anywhere near to the likes of City or Chelsea when you look at a reasonable timeframe. United intermittantly spending big has always been the way we do business, from the very early days of Fergie's reign. It's not as though we just started breaking British transfer records this summer. Cole, veron and Ferdinand were the last three players who earned us that dubious honour. We've spent huge sums on individual players over the years (Rio, Rooney, The difference between that sort of spending and City, Chelse et al is the way they spend and spend and spend. Building and entire squad exclusively out of expensive imports. City came close to spending a billion quid in the first few years after their takeover! We're still a long way off that, no matter how much we spend this summer.
Yea and that.

Appointing Allegri as coach makes me even more confident that a deal could be done.

Even if we don't get him, I feel Vidal will move this season for sure.

He is terrible, and was apparently the reason Pirlo moved as well.

The youtube stream?

Workin fine for me. But whats the point watchin it if you dont speak Italian though - unless you speak Italian of course? :smirk:

Nope it just goes to a black screen :(

One of my waitresses at my restaurant speaks fluent Italian too!

It doesn't sit easy with me that if we've signed Vidal it's caused Conte to quit. That is not the United way and I can't see LVG being too happy about it, nor Fergie but since he's done it and it's a dog eat dog business AND they took Pogba off us despite the deal we offered him I can't help feeling a degree of "up yours"

His resignation has nothing to do with "the United Way" or anything like that. If we are after Vidal it is because we see him as a player who can help us get back on top. It is not like we said "Oh lets go after Vidal and see if we can make Conte quit at the same time." It is no reflection on us at all really.

Conte left due to personal reasons which I won't get into due to respect. Not because of transfer moves.

It actually looks like this is happening. I've done no work today at work, just sat and watched Vidal videos on youtube.

Allegri on Patrice Evra: "He's an international player & has done great things in Manchester."

His mention of Manchester United was in relation Evra apparently.

Marrota "Differences with regards to the mercato & Conte's willingness to stop resulted in the contract termination."

Marotta - '' No player has asked for a meeting with the leaders, I called every single one of them after Conte left ''
