Dont have audio at work so if someone could tell me what has Mitten said.
Talked about commercial dept and van gaal saying yes that it impinges him. He also mentioned 4 defenders hummels/de vrij/vermalin/blind as targets. No mention of vidal, will be giving an update tomorrow too.

di Maria aswell? PSG surely have to offload afew...

€10m?! I don't get Arsenal. He's a much better player than Debuchy and is cheaper as well. Wenger makes the weirdest decisions at times.

It's certainly a weird one, everyone outside of England is reporting our interest in Vidal yet the British press are adamant we aren't in for him.

So mitten didn't mention anything about Vidal neither did Ducker or Odgen looks like it's off or if it was never on in the first place.

Its quite different from last year with united being linked to so many players with so many leaks in the media regarding Fabregas/thiago/ronaldo/bale/khedira etc all linked with us. The drama of fellaini and baines too. It was really stupid

This season the media know nothing, the only players they know about are of their own making. Even the best journalist were surprised by herrera and shaw was always coming. I wont be surprised the next player we sign will be signed in a similar way to herrera.

This. It might've been LvG's request to keep the transfer dealings private or Woodward realised he made a mistake last summer, but nevertheless, the media seems to have no clue what we will further do this window. I like it better this way.

Mitten said a while ago that united felt most confident about signing hummels and now he says the club think it's the most difficult, so it shows he can be a bit off about transfers. The Vidal stuff seems dead so I'll be interested to see who we target in centre mid now.

Going off LVG saying he prefers young players and turning them into quality footballers it'd point to the likes of Strootman & Carvalho.

Woodward says yes, we're more than willing to splash the cash and make record signings.

Muppet: ergo, this means we're going to sign star players and should splash the cash.

Forgetting that what Woodward really meant was that IF van Gaal wanted a certain player that would demand a huge transfer fee, the club won't hesitate to back him. So now if we don't sign a megastar, it will be Woody's fault again, when in actual fact it might have just been that van Gaal didn't request any mega stars to be signed.

I hope so, because if we aren't in for Vidal id rather them two over De Jong

"Watch this space " did in fact indicate that signings will happen. What quality those players will have is another question but after his words he better delivers especially after last season's depressing summer

That's just what I was pointing out in my post, what do you mean by 'he better deliver'? Deliver what? Our muppet fantasies to reality? All Woodward should deliver are the players the manager requests.

Whether that's a 5m or 50m player doesn't matter, it should all be dependent on what the manager wants for his plans.

Bang on money Stretch.

We better hurry because Arsenal are interested in Carvahlo and if Van Gaal insists on assessing everyone we very well might miss out on him and end up with De Jong.

Can't disagree with that. But again, watch this space indicates that he already has his targets and that signings will follow.

PARTIAL quoting is bad, he also said he is thinking about trades united will do in next weeks, he also said he wants best players to play for us, he also said he and van gaal are in regular contact to tweak targets as manager sees them. Another important thing he said was if the manager changes his mind regarding a player in august then we can change according to him, as we have the financial muscle. I think that tells a lot to us, united are monitoring a lot of players but will only bid once LVG has assessed exactly what he wants. Remember he called nigel de jong the head of pressing for the dutch team, he may want that at united or he may see that in cleverly(unlikely).
Its about his system and what player he needs in that system. He may use Nani as his robben or he may try and sign cudrado? he may even try and sign vidal to be his strootman. That is why we are monitoring such players (wide range of targets) before van gaal makes a final decision on who and what he wants. Van gaal makes quick decisions, i wont be surprised if we sign someone while on tour but that will arise when van gaal sees something. I am pretty sure he has seen a few things already. His analyst will also play a key role in this decision, players will come and leave after the tour. It will be a huge august i guess for us.

Agreed. It does seem we will be still have some incoming players. Who that will be is another story. I'm just hoping one of those are my muppet dream, Vidal

Likewise I would love Vidal coming too but I think ultimately we have to hope that LVG gets the players he feels will make us title contenders again. Like you said it may be 5 mil player or it might be a 50 mil player but so long as its the players to get us winning!

So, what happened a this press conference? Anything? Did it ever happen? All I know is he was late due to LA traffic and mentioned commercial stuff again.

I just heard it on TalkSport on the way to work. Assume they have twisted it then? What were Woody's actual quotes?
Just generally that United dont have the same financial constraints as most clubs.

So for example could United afford to pay £100 million for a given player without putting the club in financial jeopardy - of course they could. Will they ever do it - I suspect its unlikely. With teams like Real and PSG so quick to throw money away on players and United coming at it from an accounting point of view I think United will always be a notch lower than the bank rolled clubs (not that it will stop uis signing great players).
