I'm confident, I think we'll batter them. They will launch into the game with a hell of alot of gusto and try and ride off that but honestly we look so composed and tactically drilled I think we'll swat them away fairly easily and dominate possession. I'm thinking a similar match to the Madrid one. Except I can't see them scoring. 2-0

I can see why they're a bit worried. It really doesn't suit them to play us.
They'd probably be happy living a little longer in the memory of last season, when they had Suarez, we had Moyes, and they were undoubtedly in a little position of dominance over us (albeit with no silverware to show for it).
Obviously this is just pre-season and the match could go either way, but United probably see it as a bit of an opportunity to lay down and marker and upset the apple-cart. Whereas for Liverpool it's an unforeseen threat to that little position of dominance they think they've built, which they'd probably rather do without.

I don't get it! Both teams have to play two games in two days, both teams are not at full strength, both teams harbour some injuries. Surely more games the better to get maximum preparation for the new season from the whole squad and what better way to do this than contest a final with your arch rivals. Actually, it's the perfect game! Some lame excuses being rolled out over there!

what puzzles me the most about RAWK-logic is this:
they are arguing that we were so poor last season - and yes we have a new manager but surely we can't be so deluded that we think that a new manager combined with a couple of signings can make that much of a difference.

It's not just RAWK it's the majority of their fan base.
They keep saying stuff like this and saying we think we are going to walk every competition we are in etc, has anyone actually seen anyone say stuff like that on here?.

We're clearly going to be a hard team to beat this year but we're still a few signings and a year or two with a new manager to win the league but honestly I think a top 3 or 4 spot is nailed on but that's my opinion, on the outside looking in you can clearly tell United will be back with a massive chance of making top 4 and same with Liverpool, but we can admit it why can't they admit we're a strong candidate in the fight?

Indeed just flawed logic, when it is about Liverpool players they (rightfully) bring up the Brendan Rodgers card to explain why they are so much better than previous seasons, but when it is about Manchester United they simply can't acknowledge the same managerial effect LVG will have.
Liverpool had a bunch of absolute crap players before Brendan came in, bar Suarez, but he changed them, inspirred self confidence in the players and created togetherness in the team along with a couple of intelligent additions like Sturridge and Countinho and lifted the team from midtable to second place. Manchester United had a bunch of players that almost won the PL 3 times in a row (under one of the best managers of all time), then Moyes came in and despite a couple of good additions like Mata and Januzaj dragged us down to 7th place. With him out of the picture and a new manager in place who has proven his credentials in Spain, Germany, Holland and the worldcup, surely our players will be lifted again near the level they were at before Moyes, and with a couple of good additions (we already had Shaw and Herrera, surely more will follow) we could even go beyond it in time. Liverpool fans are happy to acknowledge it in their own team but at United no way.
Imo Liverpool are weakened, they lost Suarez and the additions they made add to their numbers but doesn't provide a quality injection great enough to offset the loss of such a vital player. We on the other hand have only strenghtened imo, yea we lost some experience, but those players were past it and with Herrera and Shaw we already made important quality injections and didn't just add to the numbers. Ofcourse we have alot of ground to cover coming from 7th, but the Van Gaal effect will be as massive if not more so than the effect Liverpool had from Rodgers, if they could go from midtable to challenging for the title, why couldn't we ? On top of that they will be effected by being in Europe while we'll have the advantage of just focussing on the league 100% and keeping our players fit for every game.

Madrid vs barca is. When those two play, the whole world stops to watch. Although I would not be surprised if the CL game between united and Madrid drew an even larger audience.

In any case I don't see why people think that we will walk over Liverpool. Sure, they've lost their best player in Suarez. But Liverpool last season did well without Suarez at the start of the season. While their new signings hasn't left me quaking in the boots, there's no doubt that they've added quality in depth to complement a strong first team.
LvG is still in the midst of implementing a new system for the team. It looks promising so far, our oppositions so far are more interested in getting themselves match fit for the upcoming season. Our players by contrast are giving it all because they are battling for their places and very possibly their Man Utd career- it's widely known that LvG likes to keep his squad small, and we are looking to strengthen after a disastrous season.
Spanish clubs do individual TV deals. Prem is one huge (laddered when the ££££ is handed out) corporate monster - ''the best League in the World'' etc. Now trying to bust into the American market, but it won't be Burnley & West Brom doing the touring, interesting contrast Spain v Eng, if your interested in contrasting these things, obv.
One hopes we batter these whoppers, that would be boss. <---- for a fortnight anyway, until the best league in the world actually starts.

I remembered an article about the worldwide broadcasting of the German relegation playoffs that decide who goes up into 1. Bundesliga and who goes down into 2. Bundesliga, so I looked it up. In 2010 those games were broadcasted in more than 100 countries and those are hardly top games. In 2011 Bundesliga games were broadcasted in 192 different countries. I call bullshit on an article that says the top game in the German league was only broadcasted in 23 countries in 2011, it's beyond ridiculous. How can anyone believe such nonsense? I've no idea where the dailymail gets their statistics but they clearly are blatantly lying to big up the English league.

The relegation playoff in 2010 between the 3rd placed team in the third division and the 16th placed team in the 2nd Bundesliga was broadcasted live in 166 different countries worldwide. Hell, even I couldn't tell a single player who played in those games, yet I could come up with some crazy statistics about a huge number of people who were able to follow those games live in their homes all over the globe (I'm sure few did, but that's not the point). The Premier League marketing train is big and strong in England, but you guys should start asking for the truth behind all the nonsense they feed you, especially if it's as clear as day as it is with this article.
