Proud of the lads, we gave them a real scare in the last 10 minutes, we matched them pass for pass then, against a top european team. I can's ask for much for more, our players did their best, they're just not good enough. for instance, hendo, allen, and lucas are average and nnot talented enough. Next season we can go again.

You know what annoys me about them?, its that reality is finally dawning on them this season.
What i mean by that is that they were so convinced that last season was our 'true' level, ignoring the fact that our team had challenged for the title for 20+ years, no ignore that and last season was our true level.
Likewise they thought last season was their true level, title challengers, while ignoring the fact that they have only really challenged for the title once in the last 20+ years.
Of course the universe is starting to come back into balance and correct itself and they are all like "i don't get it duh".

So much for these 'intelligent' fans.

I said either earlier in this thread or in the 13/14 version that they're getting their 'mid table club' and 'corner turned' digs whilst they still had time.

They had their best ever chance to win the league and threw it away with a Gerrard slip and a reverse Istanbul. Poetry.

I actually agree and I seem to remember there being a fairly similar debate here about the EL but it was the response of "Oh, just ban yourself" that made me laugh. :lol:

Admittedly they have the CL to play for in it this year which means he's got a point in that it's something, although the thrills part is a bit over the top.
 
Are you taking the piss? Those players may not be world beaters but they were all part of a squad that played brilliant football last season when the manager let his Captain take charge and play direct attacking football with two world class strikers ahead of him.

Everything wrong with liverpool is on Rodgers shoulders. He has lost the dressing room after this. There's no coming back. By April he's going to be cut loose once it's clear we're not making CL or EL spots and then please GOD FSG bring in a coach that is proven and has experience. Rodgers talks a good talk and is a student of the game but he is not a coach for this level - he has had TWO YEARS and half a third season to make this team play football and they simply can't.

For most of the game, they were average. Played well in the final 10 mins when Gerrard scored but it wasn't enough for them.

They were awful and outplayed for 80 minutes really. Gerrards free kick gave them some belief but Basel should have scored a few more before that. They are shit.
