Will say it again,3-5-2 is not an issue,its the way how they play in that formation,seems some players having trouble to change their habits.Maybe i am wrong but i cant remember when last time i saw one of our LB/WLB/RB/WRB running inside of their defender,between their CB and LB/RB,or when we played something through middle in last 3rd,then people ask why we dont get penalties...we have players to play all kinds of way but at the moment we are just stuck.

Today displayed why Ronald Koeman was regarded as LVG successor for the Holland team.
He was brave, observant, took advantage of mistakes, positive,simple and had solid shape throughout the game. He also changed the game with substitutions.

LVG is all honesty is just a stop gap manager, he's here to fix Moyes mess, once he's done that, we'll have to look to the future and going to the next level, for a long time now, among the top coaches LVG has been a nearly man, he always loses his job before the next era begins, i think that will happen again.

Credit to LVG for being better than Moyes which is not difficult, but if this was 2013/14 standards he'd being under alot of pressure and he's very in that regard, I rrespect LVG but its clearly evident he is very stubborn and arrogant as he completely underestimated the intensity and strength of the premier league, he underestimates the opposition and affords to take such big risks because of that.

Deserved all three points even though they played shitty. Southampton were shittier. But, I guess in terms of the two games, a split in points is fair.

The only player (other than De Gea) that wasn't blah or worse was Valencia. Our left side was dreadful unlit the last 15 minutes when some crosses we made only because Southampton were content the have them come in from positions 30 yard s from the goal line.

Now to talk about two players. First, RVP. He looks like a dying horse out there. I'm tired of the team being set around him. It's not all about him. Please no contract extension. I think the team would be served with Rooney as the number one striker. As Rooney has played in positions for the best of the team, now that the club is healthy he should be moved up top and RVP should step aside for the best of the team.


Now, as for Luke Shaw. I'm going to give him SAF time. This year, whatever. But so far, I really miss Patrice Evra. Shaw can't beat anyone. The only way he creates anything is to run into space. But if a defence challenges him, that's the end. I mean this guy cost a bundle and I'm not seeing the talent to justify it.

As for the rest of the newcomers, you have this season, and you better finish at least in 3rd place. Next year will be the ultimate judgement of these players and the manager.

As for the manager and the team play. This is not the World Cup. You can't be as predictable in your play.

Ultimately, if you are going to be a top side, you have to be able to break down sides set up to stifle your play. One of the way youi have to be able to do that is to have players that can beat the opposition one on one and in some cases one on two.

Even with Moyes I refused to acknowledge it was him but around Feb 2014 when it all became tainted, since then I've found it easier to say..."Ok look, what the manager does here, massively affects the players".

I feel LVG nulified his own players, such as Di Maria, Carrick, Rooney, Mata. His system deflates our attacking mentality. We play like we are going through the motions, Sideways passes, long ball records and back passes to DDG are being done excessively.
We do have pace but the way he sets out, their no playing between the lines, the right players, Blind and Carrrick are on the field but they are deployed in the wrong areas just to fulfill the duties of this awful system. We have so many big names being played and that has ruined our balance, Rooney and Mata cannot play together in a 3-5-2. It's confusing it's a shambles.

I don't agree with the LvG out stuff, but if he doesn't change how we play, just let them go out and enjoy themselves. The decision might be taken out of his hands if we don't finish at least 4th. For all the abuse Moyes got, we are only 2 points better under LvG at the same stage of the season with another 150 million spent. I wanted rid of Moyes way back in October, but he managed same results with half the team against him. The football played under LvG is not much better, actually seems worse, because we are creating nothing for the strikers. Not sure why people seem to think we are playing better football, it looks good passing between the defenders and the goalkeeper, but anything in the last third of the pitch looks pathetic.

LvG is stating that Southampton came looking for a draw, so what was he trying to achieve with that lineup? He is playing with 5 at the back with Carrick acting as the 6th man in defense. For a couple of games, Di Maria looked liked he was going to run away with the player of the year awards in a midfield role, but LvG decided he will play him as winger, than as a 2nd striker. Falcao has missed half a season, but LvG decides to totally leave him out of the game, just when we needed a goal poacher with that pathetic lineup.

This team is a mess because of LvG. We have the squad to be much better than what we are even with the injuries. We are lucky that Liverpool, Everton and until recently Arsenal have not matched last seasons performances, otherwise we would not be sitting in the top 4.

Unless LvG changes this pathetic lineup by the next game, i want him gone. This is not the way United play, and LvG is too stubborn to change.

When will LvG understand that whatever his philosophy about 3-5-2 is that the players are not ready to play that philosophy.. He is concerned about players being match ready, why not philosophy ready...

If we had played a 4-1-2-1-2 yesterday and players like ADM and Rooney in their best positions, then we would have had at least a few shots on target or some realistic chances... Yesterday was a complete tactical loss against Koeman. Anyone could have seen early that Sou'ton were not coming too forward and sitting at back. It was us who needed to take it to the opposition.. 4 at the back with Rooney as forward would have perfectly given us that. Instead LvG likes to be stubborn and prove some point that his 3-5-2 is best for the team and what happened at the WC was not a fluke..

This is something that has always bothered me, people comparing points totals in different seasons. It means feck all. If our competition was more consistent this season, then we would almost definitely be more consistent as well.

Look at United between 2010 and 2012. In 09/10, we got 85 points, in 10/11 we got 80 points, in 11/12 we got 89 points. The one year we won the title was in 10/11 when we got 80 points, and we won it by 9 points, and we got to the champions league final that season. Are you going to say that we were worse that season then the year before and year after because we got 5 and 9 points less over the course of the season?

Not sure how anyone can bemoan a lack of bite in a game where we dominated possession and barely conceded a chance to the opposition.

The major issue was a lack of creativity - I don't think the system helped us, but all of our major creative outlets had poor games. I'm at a loss as to how such a talented cast of players (on paper) can look so tumescent - it's an old problem rearing its head: barring a couple of exceptions, a number of our players are technically deficient when it matters - poor first touch, final ball, etc.

I was pointing out the points total to last year because of all the grief that everyone, including me, gave Moyes. People seem to think we are better off with LvG which i disagree with. We are not playing better, neither are we getting the results. Apart from a couple of games, we have looked in shambles as soon as we cross the half way line. We have some of the best attacking players in the league, but LvG has them neutered with the way he has the team set up.

Yea a lot of people laughed when people called for Moyes's head last year, look how that turned out. LvG 10-15 years ago was a risk taker, now he is taking the safe way out because he had some success in a knockout tournament.
