One of the biggest mistakes made by any manager not playing him, and then rubbing it in his face.

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Should of just accepted he had it wrong about the lad, but thats Fergie.

on the subject of a midfield dynamo he was. went for TC23 , that was f@@king idiotic and we will now pay 60m quid if he wants to come here to get someone we already fecking had. that was a massive fuc4 up. now two midfs will go out on frees because no ones paying for the brand.. he bought a grand total of 3 good midfs his whole time here - ince and keano which was a long time ago and carrick which was almost 10 yrs ago the rest were sh1t. TC23 over pogba , stevie wonder could see that fuc4 up.

I'd say it was Scholes over Pogba as he brought him out of retirement rather than Cleverley. And Fergie was one goal away from being vindicated on that score. Do you ever consider that Fergie wanted Pogba to stay but Pogba wanted to leave? And any midfielder Fergie bought would have had to be better than Carrick and Scholes and there were not many who were!

I think this has been done to death no? He played a CM partnership of Rafeal and Park and left Pogba on the bench. Even if Fergie wanted him to stay, what player would have faith in the manager after that?

But remember Scholes wasn't brought out of retirement - he himself went to Sir Alex and said he'd made a mistake retiring too early, not the other way round as seems to be the commonly held belief now by many. I personally think that whatever blindness Sir Alex had developed towards the central-midfield in the final six years of his reign when he refused to buy a senior central-midfielder (6 years!! I still can't believe it) would've meant that things were unlikely to change whether Scholes came out of retirement or not. Had Sir Alex been confident of Pogba then he would've played regardless of Scholes, Cleverley or Carrick, or indeed Park and Rafael.

you'd have left as well. he did what any player in his position would do , at least one that had any ambitions. blkbrn's midf that day was the rovers second choice midf in memory serves. what a great opportunity to play a kid next to park.

"Turin is very calm, and it’s good for me to relax and to focus,” Pogba explained.

“I like to sit and watch TV series like The Walking Dead with [Patrice] Evra, who is my Uncle Pat. Just like in Manchester [United] there’s the French group.

“Then there’s Fernando Llorente, I see him a lot. He’s my Spanish teacher"

He's learning spanish now?? Madrid bound then :(

Don't get me wrong I'd have him back within a heartbeat but re-signing him would be more embarrassing than Chelsea signing Matic again.

Embarassing? I don't think so but irritating maybe ie it shouldn't have been allowed to happen. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though and not everybody thought we'd let go of a good thing when he went.

It would be more embarrassing if you didn't sign him just because you were worried about what people thought about your transfer dealings.

Nobody cares about Matic resigning (and not just because Luiz left for £40m to cover it). When you sign the guy back and he knits your midfield together, nobody will be laughing.

He should have left based on 1 game?

So Pereira should leave now definitely?

Januzaj shld have left after SAf's last game? And again almost definitely after this season. Wilson shld have left for being dropped after scoring 2 goals on debu as wellt?

Nowhere near the same scenario. Fergie chose to play RAFAEL over Pogba in midfield. How was Raf ever going to be a better option?. It was clearly a sign to Pogba that he needed to work harder or he wouldn't get his chance, but Fergies tough love backfired.

Van gaal played and had Anderson on bench ahead of Pereira in cups.

Used Fletcher as sub ahead time and again even in games which were won.

BTW, this was more than just 1 game as well.

Edit - add in mata, Rooney, Valencia in midfield too.

Why is everyone so sure he would sign for United? He will end up in Spain once he moves I reckon

Fletcher is an actual midfielder with experience though.

How about Valencia, Rooney and Mata in midfield ahead then ? And even Januzaj in spurts.

Don't think Pereira should be starting beyone cup games right now at most (Where somehow Anderson got in ahead twice.), but he can easily leave in the summer on a free and then become a star somewhere in next 2/3 years and then claim he wasn't used in this and that game amidst all kinds of contradictory statements Pogba has made including calling himself like Mandela and what not. Actually i think Pereira may have a better case as well including sub usage.

Anyway, re Pogba it was pretty much a ego clash with SAF, and with his agent egging him on and a good offer from Juve he left. SAF just didn't give any special treatment in terms of playing/wage to him which he wanted.

A thing that bugged me when Pogba was here playing for the reserves he was often shunted to the wings to accommodate a defender in his midfield position. That was his last season with us and he failed to really impress on reserve level. It has got to frustrate you when you have to play a position you don't see yourself playing during your career for someone like Reece Brown. Sometimes during the latter Fergie years the preferance over work horses rather than talent baffled me.

Why is everyone so sure he would sign for United? Needham will now qualify what I mean.
Yes, I will. Neither party could really greet each other with full faith in the other and their heads held high. There'd be this wierdness, there, like after the first argument between one of those couples on Channel 5 who restart an old relationship due to lack of better options.

yep if i were him and he played a lb in what was my place then what that means to me is i'm behind every midf plus a lb in midf. and it was the situation , which you didn't read did you? so i'll post it again - blkbrn relegation fodder and a blkbrn 2nd string midf and still benched. kept TC23 too , why him and not give pogba a chance. they may very well have left if the situations were the same but they were offered contacts something he wasn't or pogba may still be here. fergie fuc4ed it simples. now he's worth 60m. none of those you've mentioned will be. he's played in a WC in CL and on a big club after he left. those 3 will go backwards and may never be heard of again. he won't come here anyways if a bigger , smarter club comes in for him.

How good has he become? i have not really followed him in Italy, though whenever i have seen him play he seemed a bit lazy, but exceptionally talented for a big guy, and more Socrates than Vieira, who he seemed to get compared to, being black and french and that..

He is nothing like Viera.

That was quality. He's nailed on for Madrid the way he's going.

Which makes me think, why would they want to sell him? They would be mad. Or as Zoo said on his way to Madrid. Maybe he can take their minds of DeGea. I think they have mentioned us to get Madrid involved.

There was a thread on here earlier asking who the next non Messi/Ronaldo ballon d'or winner would be. I think this guy is a good shout. Him and Neymar would be in the top 3 soon enough, imo.
