This is what I expect too. We were a little too naive at OT. Made a lot of chances, which we failed to convert, but also over-committed when we went forward.

When you look at the potential battles it's fascinating :

Young + Blind vs Sterling + Can
Di Maria + Valencia vs Moreno + Sakho. I'd go with Moreno over Johnson simply because of his pace, though if he continues with his fouling that will be a major concern.
Sterling / Sturridge / Coutinho / Lallana vs Jones (or will Rojo return ?) / Smalling / Carrick / Blind / Valencia
Rooney + Mata + Fellaini vs. Skrtel / Can / Sakho
Henderson / Coutinho / Allen / Sterling vs. Carrick, Herrera (perhaps) / Fellaini / Blind / Valencia
Both keepers in form.

In the PL this season only one keeper has more clean sheets than Ming (11) ... Forster (13). Though I know it's a team effort of course.

Except only one of those 'efforts' I listed for Liverpool were actually saved ! Same goes for those Swansea two 'chances' that were high, wide and mighty that the poster listed as chances. And of course I only listed those LFC chances to add a balance to the poster saying Swansea should have been 1-1 at worst .. whilst completely ignoring the more (and better) chances we had to score. More chances should equal more goals, assuming conversion rates is roughly similar.

I'd prefer to bring Flanno or Johnson in at RCB if for any reason one of Skrtel/Sakho/Can can't start. Though that's a little unfair on Flanno who is obviously going to be off the pace and not match-fit (and maybe a little unfair on Lovren who has been showing some very positive signs of improvement).

Barring a freak training ground accident though I'd expect Skrtel/Sakho/Can to start. Can was pretty horrendous yesterday though .. it wouldn't be a massive surprise to see Johnson replace him at RCB. Though I expect BR to give Can the benefit of the doubt and assume he's not going to play back to back games like yesterday. His calmness when under pressure on the ball could be vital.

Pretty much. I think the back three for this season is established. Maybe we will see some changes at RCB in the Summer if BR decides to move Can into MF more.

Depends on the keeper and the save. If Mignolet produced some of the saves De Gea has made this season it would be luck, because it's not in his repertoire. The same save can be somewhat lucky for Mignolet but not lucky for De Gea. Just like the same 35 yard rocket wouldn't be luck for Ronaldo, but would be luck for Phil Jones.

It's a bit like United though isn't it? Stats say one thing while the eye says another. Perhaps like United around the end of last year, "your luck is due to run out" and you'll get the results your performances deserve.

He was decent last season. Nowhere near one of the best.

And as we've seen this season, the PL isn't exactly a haven of great centre backs.

Hell, Southampton are far better defensively this season then last.

To be honest against Swansea he made a couple of good saves but they weren't what I'd call lucky. It was more down to poor finishing than anything else (from Gomes, Shelvey and Sigurdsson particularly).

Your logic is flawed because Ming is an excellent shot-stopper (shot-stopping being the whole basis of your argument). He has far more FUs in other areas though than De Gea, and is generally poorer in most other aspects of keeping. But you can't knock his shot-stopping.

Yep. Can't leave out our best performer, Joe Allen. Best player on the park against City, Southampton and Swansea. Henderson has been good and he's taken the plaudits on here and in the media, but it's the Welsh Xavi who deserves them.

He was poor against Blackburn, but there have been definite improvements to his game recently. He's not calamity Lovren anymore. Had a good second half against City. Doesn't offer anywhere near what Sakho does though.

My overall point was that luck is dependent on the talent of the player in question. De Gea and Mignolet could make the exact same save and because it'd be an 8/10 save for De Gea rather than a 3/10 save for Mignolet one would be fortunate whereas the other wouldn't. Therefore if a poster said Liverpool were lucky last night it isn't necessarily double standards to suggest United haven't necessarily been lucky in a similar situation in our matches. Although Mignolet is a good shop stopper, he's still miles behind De Gea who I'd say is comfortably the best in the world in that aspect.

Personally I thought Liverpool were lucky last night but not because of fortunate goalkeeping, because of poor finishing. I don't think Liverpool had any simple chances that they missed, but Swansea had a couple.

I think that is generous, but even if it were the case, top 6-7 in the PL isn't exactly mighty praise.

You can try justify his signing all you want but most on here did say it was a crazy purchase at that price at the time, though certainly people didn't expect him to be this rubbish.

Been absolutely brilliant for Southampton all season, and seems to have taken them up a level all by himself. I remember seeing him play in midfield once or twice for Lyon too, and he was excellent.

He is a great reader of the game, is quick, and has fantastic ability on the ball. We have been linked with a few centre-halves over the past year, and while I am very happy with our young options there - if we did decide to go for a new centre-half at some point, I'd hope he would be an option.

Been the league's best this season so far in my view.

He's sensational. Could well be the signing of the season.

The first thread was made in November, when him and Southampton were certainly flying. If that's the most recent you can find for him it's not great.

And the second thread, "most said", really? Most of what's on the second page, the one active when you signed him, is Utd posters saying he's not that good and not worth the fee, and you defending him from those comments

Well so far I think almost all of your players have struggled to adept to life under Rodgers, so I probably wouldn't count him out before the end of next season if he keeps playing like shit.
