Not really because we were the best club in England and Europe when Ronaldo wanted to leave us

Well it's still 10C1 (9 at that time) vs 3C1.
That's something we need to fix in order to keep Real quiet.

If nothing, we have every reason to believe Woody and Louis will do everything they can to keep Dave. If they can do it, it couldn't have been done.

I just wish fans would understand that players are simply employees of a club, not necessarily fans of the club they play for - players do not have to show loyalty to clubs, just like you don't have to show loyalty to your employers. Stop doing this to yourself guys - if he leaves then just appreciate what he's done for us. Players leave and retire all the time, we will survive. He's a young man trying to make a career - just be glad that we had some time of him playing his heart out for us, and wish him all the best for his future career. After this season, it's us that owe him not him owing us.

Imagine wanting to go home to a beautiful city, be with your family and girlfriend, being paid a lot and playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

United can offer 2/6.
We can offer 2 of those things, we are one of the biggest clubs in football and can offer him the money he wants, now the others are another matter.

Never understood why players pander to their girlfriends. Ronaldo has the best mentality when it comes to women. No commitment or distraction. Fully focused on his game. Got a girl pregnant? No problem just pay her to stay away.

To be fair, footballers are not regular employees.

yep...and we can't compete with those. Although I don't think De Gea his going to be the huge success at Real that Real think he might be. He's going to be against far better skillful forwards than we have here.....

Come on man, that's ridiculous  He's obviously good enough for any top team in any top league.

It is now obvious he is going. It is all over BBC that "its could be his last game" etc

The only hope we have is him failing a medical. IIRC it's against the rules of hoping an injury to a player, but is this a one off as I want him to fail his medical  . I was joking, I would never wan't to see David unhappy after what he has done for us this season.

What happens if Real Madrid pay us but he fails the medical? Can we be cnuts and keep some of the money.

Stop being naive. Do you really think most of these players give a shite about what us fans think or anyone else for that matter?
Not sure what you mean by this. My point is although I'd rather DDG stay, most likely he'll be moving on, and it's entirely his prerogative to do so. It's not like he's going to one of our rivals, he's going back home. We got 4 years out of him that were equally beneficial to both sides. To now be making negative comments about being "timid" and "not confident" sounds petty and comes across as sour grapes.

To be fair, I think it is entirely okay to be annoyed at him fecking of at the age of 24 after the club helped him develop into one of the finest 'keepers in the world. However, I don't really begrudge him going back to his native city and being with his girlfriend and all that - but to bugger off on the cheap, with one year left on his contract, is just poor form.

Embarrassing comments. Fecking sour grapes. Never mind that he's already one of the best in the world.

 Yours is the embarrassing comment here bud. Look at the post you quoted and tell me how it is sour grapes, I didnt even criticise or have a go at DDG, simply commented on his personality. Christ, get a grip.

As long as we don't give them a receipt, they can't prove anything. Do it Woody!

He will leave it is inevitable really.
Just hope we get the big fee he should command or maybe arrange swap deal with bale/ varane.

He was talking to van Gaal about his injury clearly. I hope that puts to bed all the nonsense in the Spanish press that him and van Gaal can't stand each other because it didn't look that way judging by their conversation.

I've always thought he wasn't confident - it's not sour grapes. Just an observation.

The reaction on here if he signs a contract of if he confirms he is leaving would be crazy. Hoping for the former.

Isn't it time for you to reset another Fellaini poll?

goddamn it Navas

I love how threads suddenly just live their own life and stray from the original topic :D

Pretty much gone. Gutted. I'm convinced we did everything we could do.

I'd rather we didn't had him at all if he buggers off on the cheap to Real.

Seriously what has been the point, we invested £20m in him, we had to wait 2 years until he finally started putting in performances that warranted that investment and now that he has finally come into the player that we wanted him to be and could start earning back our investment he'll probably bugger off to Real for £20m. Conclusion we have lost 4 years with De Gea and got nothing in return. Yes Real Madrid have got something in return, they'll have a topnotch goalkeeper on the cheap and they will run away with the fruits of our investment.

If players don't have to show loyalty we don't have to show them any loyalty either. In fact we don't own him anything, if he just an employee of the club that don't care about anything else but his paycheck than he just did his job and got paid every week end of story. Nothing to do about gratitude, what did De Gea do that we should be happy about ? Investing our time and money in him so he can become a better player and than running down his contract so he can go Real Madrid for smallchange ? Because if he has no loyalty to us then the only thing he did was just playing goalkeeper which is exactly what he got paid to do, so I see no point in us being gratefull for any of it really.
