Bayern are currently celebrating the title together with their femiale counterparts, marking the end of the old and the start of the new season.

And we've got our first "breaking news" already:
Gonzalo Castro will leave Leverkusen for Dortmund. Buyout was 11 million euros. Contract until 2019.
So the first team to buy a player from their direct opposition this year isn't Bayern, but Dortmund.

Doesn't that award go to Wolfsburg - getting Kruse from Gladbach?

Probably yes... I concede.

@Needham
They are doing fantastically well I'd say. Got to 3rd with a very small budget in relation to the big hitters and as long as Favre is at the helm I don't see them falling off dramatically. They'll be in contention for the CL next year as well if they reinforce their squad smartly.
Edit: It's spelled Mönchengladbach/Moenchengladbach.

He ain't so wrong. Until 1950 it was München-Gladbach...

(I did not know that either - but I wanted to know if the name came from monks and there I found the explanation. It was changed in the fifties to not be mixed with the City Munich)

Darmstadt have been promoted.

Congratulations, @NoLogo! (I think it was your local team?)

Darmstadt is in it, what a story :)

Darmstadt and Ingolstadt - both are the stories.

Have to post again the link about Ingolstadt that I posted yesterday already in the other thread. There are some misconceptions about the club because of AUDI.

....
It's true that Ingolstadt never laid out that sort of money, at least not on the playing staff. Since the club was formed some 10 years ago, only €4 million were spent on transfers -- in total. And this season's budget in the second division was a modest €8.5 million, distinctly average at this level.

and...

Ture or not: Thank god they gave him a ridiculous contract until 2017. Nobody could have foreseen that Matteo wouldn't turn them into worldbeaters.
Schalke is turning into the new Hamburg. Their management is a bunch of clowns.

They should try everything to get Gisdol. Probably not the manager to turn them into a top team, but at least he would get the best out of their young talents and that's clearly the most important thing for next season. Giving the job to Di Matteo was such a stupid decision.

Not that it'd ever happen but Klopp would be brilliant at Schalke with the young talents they have

Great shout

They have a lot of good individual talents - especially in the creative department. Khedira, if fit, would be a blessing for them as he combines that working morale with a good character - unlike a Boateng who is an "individual player" himself.

Höwedes is a fine character - but not really a leader. And that is what they need most. Somebody that shows the young talents the right way and somebody to keep them together.

It is not the Klopp type of talents. Klopp worked with a lot players with "working spirit" and just a little of the creative department.

All the sweet money burned by Heldt this Summer

Nothing will change btw as long as the clown Heldt is in charge there.

It´s really hilarious how much they waste their advantage of their great academy and slowly but surely that advantage begins to fade. Dortmund´s U17 and below are already at least on the same level as Schake´s, which will make it harder for them to get promising talents from that area. We also have one of the most talented youth coaches of the country with Hannes Wolf in charge of one of them.

Speaking of youth coaches, Schalke should definitively try to give Norbert Elgert (the man behind the success of the "Knappenschmiede") a shot at coaching the first team. If someone can get the most out of their young squad, it´s him.

I expect them to go for some washed up veteran coach, fail miserably and replace him with Skibbe - whom they'll buy out of a contract for 1million euros just to fire him after 5 games. Lets hope they do.

What's Harry Redknapp doing these days?

Bayern Munich is so shook by the promotion of sleeping giant Darmstadt 98 that even their basketball team is getting blown out.

Uffstiech!!!

Oh yeah. Never thought I would see the Lilien return to the first league. We were basically relegated from the third league only 3 years ago and now we managed promotion to the first. Unbelievable.

Yeah and I only see one way this can end:

3rd in 3rd division
2nd in 2nd division
.... in 1st division

So Davie Selke leaves Bremen and heads off to Bundesliga 2 Leipzig. Strange decision I must say (was made in January).

He probably expected them to play in the Bundesliga and challenge for europe straight away with RB's financial muscle. Serves him right.

Money Money Money. He should have negotiated a performance bonus, national team bonus and a related release clause to compensate for the salary difference between Bremen and Leipzig. He continues his progress in Bremen he´s at Dortmund or Gladbach in 12 months. Now he might still be in the 2nd division in 12 months.

Should've insisted on a clause that guarantees him a loan until Leipzig plays Bundesliga.

DORTMUND TAKING THE SPINE OFF OF A DIRECT RIVAL JUST LIKE BAYERN

2015/16 season thread started already? Germans and efficiency...

Bayern will win.

/end thread

Please. Now that Darmstadt 98 has arrived the power shift is real. That´s what a state of the art sugardaddy supported stadium of the 22nd century looks like:

1. The visitors locker room

2. The showering area

€5M budget. Football won today. I love it.

They shall win all their home games by giving their guests tetanus.

Going to be interesting to see who goes where. Wolfsburg will strengthen, Dortmund rebuilding, Leverkusen need to buy. Good transfer window abrewing!

It doesn't seem as if things are really gonna get harder for Bayern. Dortmund will obviously bounce back and have just made a nice signing with Castro, Wolfsburg will be dangerous but I'm certain Bayern will spend some money and easily walk through the league again.

They actually didn´t dominate the top teams. They didn´t win a single season series. They are just so much more consistent against the weaker teams. Against the teams that finished 2-6 this season they got only 12 out of a possible 30 points (3-3-4). Against the rest an amazing 67 of 72 (22-1-1).

So for one game against the best teams the gap is already closing as Bayern is aging. If they don´t upgrade their squad with some quality younger players I wouldn´t be shocked to see them pushed. I´m not sure, but I don´t think a team has ever won four titles in a row in the Bundesliga.

I think some of it is due to a lack of focus rather than a lack of quality with Bayern. When you dominate the league the way they do, it's easy to slip up. Nonetheless, when the going gets tough, I trust Bayern to dominate the top teams as well.

The fact that Pep got comprehensively outcoached in some of these matchups can't be neglected.

In the league or above people make too much of the "bad" results against near competitors. You have to see when this matchups where or what players Pep had at the time. Or on the run of play. There weren't any crunch matches lost or drawn in the league - apart from the first months in which there still were problems because of the lack of preparation there was always enough space to the opponents.

My problems are his tactics in the away legs in the Champions League. Final stage - not the group stage. The cautious approach with the midfield overload when you already know prior to the match that you need a lot luck to shoot goals because the opponent will sit back against Bayern - and at the same time in this setup costy individual mistakes even happen more at Bayern than when they play more offensive. It is not that this problem is a new Pep problem - actually it is the problem since 2011/12.
