hope Rafa eats his donuts and makes up David's mind to stay
A stream of rumours came in about him leaving suddenly.Just in from work,Can someone summarize whats the latest from today?
Bit shit from him that we've nurtured him into the top 2/3 goalkeepers in the world over the past few seasons and he wants to run off to Real Madrid at the first chance he gets. Still only 24, not like this chance wouldn't come around again. Shit from him too that he basically declined a contract over the past year or so, he could've signed one a year back and then we'd have got a decent fee for him, it's all we deserve really.
It doesn't look good but we knew this was coming. I'm disappointed that big Dave is probably leaving but no point keeping a man that doesn't want to be at United. We will hopefully strengthen our defense this summer and won't be as reliant on our new keeper. Sour taste in here tonight. De Gea is from Madrid, his family are from there. His girlfriend lives there, what does everyone expect? He hasn't said anything negative or disrespectful towards the club, his silence is more a respect to the fans more than anything else. He's not saying shit like 'only god knows' and declaring his love for Real to us. For all the bitter fans in here as well, De Gea owes us nothing. He's played a massive part of possible champions league football for the club next season. Get a fecking grip haters, he's one of if not the best goalkeeper to play for the cub. He seems a humble guy as well, best of luck to Dave if you decide to go![]()
Of course not, but I doubt certain aspects of his game, like his aerial control of the ball, would've developed half as much if he'd have gone to Real straight from Atletico. We took that chance on him and helped him develop. His immense talent was always there for all to see, even in his supposedly dodgy first season, so I doubt him now being one of the best in the world is purely down to us 'nurturing' him.
He had a difficult first season but he's definitely made up for it since. I understand you are annoyed, so am I but he's not the first big player to go there. The reason your probably really annoyed is that we are gonna get feck all for him, that's the truth. If we were getting £60 for De Gea there would be a different outlook in here. It's the clubs fault it ran down to his last year.I disagree. We took a chance on the lad, we stuck by him right from the start despite the mistakes. We gave him a platform to go on to be one of the best in the world and at the first chance he gets, he fecks off to Madrid.
Memories !!
Ha well
Let me rephrase it, it will be disrespectful if he just pops up in Madrid while signing a contract with that mob without saying anything before that.
Also if he goes I wont care about him. Strange thing is he'll be still adored here by some (many?) just like Ronaldo, whose dream was to play for Madrid, is still adored.
What makes someone, "Luxury"
What is disappointing we didn't get a big fee for him!
Yeah those comments are annoying to be honest. He would have been top class regardless of where he was.People keep saying "we stood by him" etc.
Genuine question: Considering he was our best keeper, was still showing moments of class, and was only going to improve (even if only slightly,) what else were the club going to do?
Your probably right . IMO the situation is dragging on because we are trying to sort some sort of player swap deal with our mother club !Much as the Varane, Bale rumours are doubtless BS,I really think some sort of player swap is the only we'll come out of this any chance of 'winning', we just don't need the crappy fee they are wanting to force on us, but we do need players and lots of them!
One of Carvajal, or Navas + £20 million, or a straight swap for Benzema, Modric, Varane, or Isco and we might just win on the transfer.
Sadly it aint gong to happen though, and time is not on our side as we need to get thing sorted asap, so I see him gone inside 2 weeks for £20-£25 million.
I also think that would mean United would think twice about ever buying a young player from Spain, Germany, Portugal or Italy again as they are very prone to going away before they hit their prime. People who say that United overspend on the likes of Shaw, Jones and Smalling should be reminded of players like Pogba, De Gea and Fabregas who leave before their prime. British talent should always come first for Manchester United imo.I'm not that fussed about him leaving because it always seemed an inevitability and he has good reasons personally and professionally to move there, but letting him go on the cheap would be a massive kick in the balls. Unless he get a silly fee then keeping him for another season is clearly the best option, so if we choose not go down that route it means we can't fend off interest from Madrid and we concede to player power far too easily. I've accepted the former but the latter would be a new low...and I agree it reflects very poorly on our stature.
Easy to say when everyone remembers how United replaced Schmeichel or how Arsenal replaced Seaman. Some of ye need to get a grip ,Im disappointed if he does go but he wants to go and play at home, so be it.
Players come and go,he'll be replaced and we move on.

There are plenty of good GK's out there at the moment we could sign.Easy to say when everyone remembers how United replaced Schmeichel or how Arsenal replaced Seaman.

And anyone of them will be a step down, most of them without PL experience. There aren't actually that many. I'd be worried about any keeper signed as a replacement except for Cech. There are plenty of good GK's out there at the moment we could sign.
Can't blame them really. In your ample free time would you rather sit outside a Madrid cafe in the sun or sit in Greggs in Longsight hoping that the rain stops soon?

Letting him go for zero next summer covers even less of the cost of his replacement.Unless they offer Varane or Bale in exchange, or a shit load of money (£40-50m+) we shouldn't be selling.
There's no good reason to sell him for less. We don't need a token cash sum like £25m, I mean that probably wouldn't even cover the cost of signing Cech or Lloris, not that we need to sell to afford them.

Of course not just up to them to agree to sell a player to us the player in question had to want to move right?I really hope we get a player back, the money is almost nothing for us, f they're not letting us Bale than go for Isco or Varane or Carvajal, they're loaded with good players.. I wouldn't even care letting de Gea go for free next year just now to tell them to feck off, it is always madrid isn't it?
Just pointing out a problem with the posters logic of 25mil not covering the cost of a replacement. Zero covers less.Money isn't a concern.
