He's an absolute grade A cnut, and I don't mean in a good way either.

Do not want. Please.

He's the defender we need not what we deserve. *Batman voice

Honestly id love to see him here, top player who will add leadership and balls to our back line, Id take him over Otamendi anyday.

He's one of the best CB around, but that's not saying much. Can't see him leaving Real though.

FWIW in 2014/ 2015, Ramos accrued 0 red cards in 50 starts combined for Real Madrid and Spain (which also speaks to his fitness record - hasn't played less than 40 games per season through his decade long career in Madrid, and averages 45 club games per season for the past 5 seasons). He matured a ton under Ancelotti down the stretch - became more patient, with improved decision-making and carved out more of a vocal leadership role at Real Madrid with the regression of Casillas.

Challenge accepted (if he joins United lol).

They're both twats in equal amount.

In general as human beings they both may be twats in equal amounts but on the football pitch Busquests is a bigger twat as his cnutiness really influences the play with his diving and general moaning.

Being overly aggressive is far worse than being a diver.

I guess it's what you prefer. If I had to choose one way of winning or one mentality in my team I'd choose the over aggressive 'stomp on everyone but win' way then the 'cheat lie deceive - anything to win'. I'm obviously using extremes here but you get what I'm saying.

Possibly the 2nd best option if we can sign any player from Madrid, seems too good to be true if this happens.

Right footed, but yup.
I don't think the preferred foot matters too much if the player is adept at the other facets the manager seeks. Jones at LCB for the last batch of games showed that, somewhat.

I'd have preferred we bargained for Benzema, but I suppose we need a CB more and he's a leader to boot. Would be pleased if Woody pulled this off.

He's pretty much the last defender I can think of that would ever get 'bullied'.
Yup.

Also, I don't understand preferring Otamendi over Ramos, when there's an actual chance of signing the latter. Otamendi is only two years younger and has only last season to show where he's done really well. He will also cost a bomb and if we go for him, we still lose De Gea to Real.

I'm torn with this.

On the one hand he is undoubtedly a massive cnut, he kicks out, he mouths off, he's irritating and has a tendency to get sent off.

But on the other hand, he is a good defender, good in the air, strong, a leader and would wind up opposition attackers no end, how often this season did we say that we needed strength at the back? and if/when we lose De Gea it will be even more important to have that kind of character back there. basically, i trust LVGs judgement on this, if he comes, great, if he doesn't then nevermind.

Ramos is experienced and better on the ball. But Otamendi is rising and wants to play here. He had a brilliant season and enters his best years. Plus he has a great beard, all good arguments. Most posters are also set on Otamendi, they would need to change again.

Not to mention that most people dont like Ramos for being a cnut. They even invent things like getting bullied just to show that they dislike him and dont want him.

I couldnt decide, but happy with one of them.

I honestly dont get why people are saying they dont want Ramos because of his attitude. If anything, i'd want him for his attitude. Atleast he shows a pair on the field.

Imagine Chelsea fans saying they wanted to sell JT for receiving cnut of the year award for 10 consecutive years.

Oh I'd be happy with either of them as well. And before the Ramos news, I was firmly in the 'sign Otamendi' camp. However, if there's a chance to actually sign Ramos, I'd prefer him I think.

LvG and Ramos in the same dressing room, how long before it goes nuclear? Ramos is using United to get his pay raise.

I think his reputation preceeds him.

He's a brilliant defender, just a complete nutjob.

This is what i want Hazard, Sterling, and any other forward dribbler to think of when they rush our goal.

We need a mofo like this. Its the necessary evil. Think people felt safe running past our midfield with Keane chasing them? Hes a brilliant footballer, hes the one we need for building up, score goals from corners and hes a damn presence on the field.

Sign him up

He's a quality player and would be class in the premier league. The experience and options in defence he would give us next year would be immense. If we could get Otamendi beside Smalling in the center, Shaw on the left and Ramos on the right we wouldn't be as reliant on our keeper. He's a bit of cnut but that's what you need sometimes. He's great in the air and still has great tempo and aggression to his game. It's very much fantasy at the moment and I still doubt he will come, more a Dani Alves situation going on. It's more than likely a ploy for one more big pay day at Real. We all know that it's silly season and lies and leaks and wnker agents are out in force. Sometimes it's just a bit of fun and enjoy the ride, as I say put on Fleetwood Macs little lies and read all the tabloid rubbish:wenger:

I suspect he's just using us for a better deal and this will go nowhere, I would take him though. Not sure I would prefer him over Otamendi however. I never rated Ramos until the last few seasons, he's better than I thought he was.

Been said a few times already but there's no chance of us spending mega bucks on a CB who is better than everyone else we have only to push him out to RB where he isn't as good. If he comes then either Otamendi doesn't get signed or Smalling gets pushed to the bench.

Same, used to think he was massively overrated but not so much any more. That said, I glanced onto a Madrid forum and they were still complaining about his rashness and inconsistency, so I guess his old flaws haven't exactly disappeared either.

Ramos is a leader and type of experienced defender we need. But having said that don't think he is a brilliant defender as some are making out. Prone to plenty of errors as well.

Assuming Otamendi continues his trajectory if Real replace Ramos with him they won't have done badly.

He's instantly improve our defense and leadership massively, I don't care if he's a cnut once my club is improving areas they lack in with world class players.

Barcelona fans knew what Suarez was like and he even went off a bit someone on the biggest stage in the world then got banned yet they still signed him. That didn't turn out too bad for Barcelona did it?

Apart from keyboard warrior battles, the problem isn't necessarily that he's a cnut, but that he makes it way too transparent and isn't sly enough. Needs to be a lot more Italian in that regard.

The way ppl talk about Ramos you could think United have only had Saint players in the past. Keane was hated by oppo fans, Becks too until he became every England fan's darling with his last minute goal against Greece. The less said about Ronaldo the better.

And as far as his red cards are concerned, he would see much less in the PL.

I don't mind his cuntishness but I do have a problem with players who do stupid thing and get punished for them.

It's all well and good saying we need someone with a bit of attitude but we'd be cursing that same attitude if it got him sent off or sees him making a critical error. Remember the criticism Smalling got when he was sent off against City? Or some of Fellaini's stupid cards? Expect the same from Ramos. Same thing when it comes to individual errors, even at his best he's capable of making some very poor decisions.

If this is yet another gobshite using United for a new contract, we should just come out and say it. I knew Alves was gonna do it and this bloke is just doing the same. How come Chelsea never get caught up with this sort of bollocks?

Maybe but we still need a right back, Rafael is clearly not going to get his chance under LVG. Valencia is not an option as a starter next year and Ramos can play there. I think we need 2 players in every position Evans, Rojo, Jones, Smalling at center. Shaw/Blind Valencia/Rafael. Take out Valencia and Evans and that free's up space for Otamendi and Ramos. LVG likes players that can play a variety of positions i.e Daley Blind. We hopefully will have Champions league football through the year as well, given our injuries this year it would be wise to improve our squad(especially with more games). Sergio Ramos would give us more options. If and it's a pretty big 'if' Ramos is available we have to go for it, De Gea is as good as gone and we need to salvage something. This is hypothetical of-course and you could be right about not getting both but I wouldn't rule it out. Smalling will hold his position down but I doubt he will stay fit all year.

I don't think him or his agent have said a word, therefore I doubt he's using us (yet) to get a better deal. Its the papers running that Woody asked about him.

Personally, I find the Ramos story difficult to believe, and don't think it will happen. That said, he's a quality player. There's no denying it. He's good in the air, reads the game pretty well, moves the ball inteligently and is a real competitor. He's versatile, which Va Gaal clearly appreciates, and would absolutely improve our team. I'd certainly welcome him to the club. However, I'd much prefer Otamendi, despite the fact that he's not as proven at the highest level. He seems tailor made for the Premier League, and United. Now, if we could somehow get both...
