Thats why he's been playing there for the last 10 years, since he was you know, 19 years old?

They obviously picked him for his beautiful hair. Can't have been his ability, what with him being such a joke and all.
Yea but Rio/Vidic.

How did Vidic help Rio? Watch from 06/07 onwards and you'd see. You clearly didn't watch Rio at the start of his career here.

Again, I did watch him, wtf. is this. OK, you didn't watch football till last year....

So, Vidić was horrible when he came, but it wasn't Rio who helped Vidić, but it was other way around and both improved... OK.

No, I know fans will support him, I would support him if comes here....

I think that referees in Prem treat differently foreign players, especially players who came as stars.

Rooney could say a lot of things, Hart can even put his head on the referee, Terry can scream and touch the referee and nothing will happen, while if di Maria does it he will get the card and not just di Maria.... Ramos is a vocal player, but he is vocal to everyone and it worries me a bit.
Players in general respect the referee over here, we don't have a racist refereeing system

You'd never see an English captain grab the ref like Di Maria did, and if they did they'd also get sent off. Also with diving, plenty of English players are carded for simulation.

His outspoken nature is something that will have to be toned down, I agree, but I just don't understand why you don't want him here. He'd immediately improve our back line.

He was the more intelligent player, of course he was the leader and organizer of the defense (their styles made it natural to be that way). But fine, I will not argue also about that.
Being the more intelligent player doesn't automatically make you a leader, nor does it make you a good organiser. If that's what you're basing it on then I can see why you think that. All you have to do to realise that Vidic organised the back line for years is to open your eyes and watch the game.

He never called Rio a joke.

So what? Ramos was a joke at the begging, a joke because he was very expensive at the time and wasn't worth half the money. But again, I am not taking that as a point as obviously players are allowed to have problems at 19, 20, 21 years of age, especially defenders.

I don't agree, I think that he started to do it later, when Rio wasn't around that much because of injuries. But really this is not the topic for this and we don't need to agree about that at all.

You've seen what Hart did to the same raferee?

At 19 Phil Jones had Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all battling for his signature. Since then he has been a regular starter for Manchester United(when fit), has been highly praised by every manager he has ever had and also has been a regular for England yet the general consensus here is that he is a joke. See you could played that game for a lot of players.

Bollocks

3 years worth of world class service if he comes. Its a ballsy move, its abit like the RVP signing. Great for a season or two but then we're back to square one.

Think i would rather have Otamendi who would only be Ramos's replacement and probably look as good at Madrid anyway.
He is not even that much younger. Also RVP only gave us 1 year of World Class service, Ramos would give a good few.

Nonsense again. Vidic hadn't played for a few months, when he first came here as Russian league took a break. Then the fact he was adjusting to a new league, which would obviously take time coming from the Russian league to English.

So Vidic wasn't terrible and didn't wanted to leave?

And how is this related to Ramos?

Yeah, I agree with that. Still ridiculous to suggest English players get better treatment.
I have that as it looks like ty want to make a point. After a year or two it should be OK, but at first.... Let's hope we will not habe to find out and he doesn't argue a lot with the refs.

Well yeah that was a mistake by Oliver but still doesn't mean that English players get better treatment.

Ramos played the way Jones plays, but was more expensive at the time and lot of people call Jones a joke.
Ramos could have been a brain dead, paraplegic circus monkey 5 years ago. It is now an irrelevant point.

Here are the relevant facts. Ramos and Otamendi are the two best obtainable defenders. We seem to prefer buying the more consistent, well rounded and proven of that pair. What are your objections to this, and why?

They not tall enough apparently.

By Premier League standards he'd have no where near that many. We all know foreign referee's are trigger happy.
Real have the biggest fear factor when it comes to referees. Ramos escaped numerous bookings and sending offs during the years. He's also a lot elbow happy in the air something that often was disregarded by the referees. I don't think he'll receive less cards in prem, on the contrary as it is more physical league and we don't hold 65%+ possession every game like Real do.

Ramos last year was pretty average, opinion shared amongst most of Real fans as well. This year has been better. It has to be taken into account as one good season doesn't mean that next year he'll be as good as this. Look at Benatia's first season at Bayern.

Of course, but I am not the one who started with his early years, it was another poster who was using that against Ferdinand.

I also don't think it's important (only when people mention his ten years at the club, because that would mean that you could be really average to play for a top club because that's what he was at the time).

I said why I am am against him, I really can't repeat it again.

But it's not like I am against it in a way that I think that he would be a failure or a horrific transfer. I just have my worries.

...Because they are nothing compared to Maldini or something? I'm bored now to be honest.

I am trying to say this and it can be seen especially in the CL, but obviously people here don't think that way, which is fair enough.

Errrrm...

When did I say anythnig against Otamendi.

I think that Ramos is an asshole and when I combine it with the fact that I think that he is a level under the top defenders we had not so long ago at the club of course I will be against him.

But why is it a problem, it's just my opinion?

Do please point out who we can sign who'd be as good as Vidic or Rio circa 2008.

Real Madrid don't hold 65% possession either!

Man United in fact have better possession stats than Real Madrid
