Well I love Denzel, some people don't byt hey-o... lets not go there.
Pratt is entertaining (he was by far the best thing about J World) D'Onofrio was the best thing about Daredevil, I'm a mark for Korean revenge films and Sarsgaard is generally very good in anything he's in.

I think it will be shite, doesn't mean thats not a good cast though. Compare it with most non-avengers of these "big film casts" these days and it stacks up.
Every film Fuqua has made since Training Day has been either average or crap, I didn't even like Equaliser that much. Training Day was excellent because of the performances of the two lead actors, something he's never managed to replicate. His Magnificent Seven remake will probably do moderately well at the box office (Chris Pratt might be its biggest selling point, going by recent box office performances), but it will also probably be very average.

Sarsgaard is a fantastic actor. Shame to not see him in more films actually. Loved him in Jarhead.
I didn't mind Training Day. Always liked the 'Dr Dre scene'...
I've got a whole stack of films lined up for this years film festival which begins next week. The Lobster, Louder Than Bombs, Phoenix, Heaven Knows What, The Duke of Burgundy, The Look of Silence, Tangerine, Queen of Earth, Dope, End of the Tour plus documentaries on Fassbinder and Brando.

Last time I slagged off Denzel it caused a shit storm but Training Day sucks like nearly every film he's in.
I thought Washington's performance in Training Day was pretty great, but the film as a whole got a bit ridiculous as it went on.
Denzel is brilliant but he nearly always has to carry whatever film he's in as they're often mediocre. Training Day was a particularly charismatic performance from him so it got lifted that little bit extra. It's still really him carrying the film though.
Southpaw - Better then I thought it was going to be, but not as good as it could and probably should have been. It has a lot of things working for it - namely Jake G, who is great, and the production values for the boxing itself which, whilst the bouts are very glamorized, they are presented like the real deal - but through a combination of being a bit too formulaic (lots of melodrama here), not having the best scripting in the world and, mainly, having real problems with its pacing, it never quite reaches the level it probably wanted to be it.
Still, thanks in large parts to Gyllenhaal (one of the best actors in Hollywood today?) a nice support turn from Whitaker, and Rachel McAdams looking hot as hell (she's not in it for much, but she starts off in a very tight dress, and then goes on to wear less and less) I enjoyed it.

Always found Jake Gyllenhaal a bit meh but he really was brilliant in Prisoners and Nightcrawler.
He was pretty good in Enemy.
That buddy cop movie he was in where they filmed everything was really good.
Edge of Tomorrow was pretty enjoyable. Emily Blunt is a hot one.

Arnie's daughter is slowly becoming a zombie and this films centres aronud their final two weeks together. Shot beautifully, this really was an artsy take at a zombie film but to be honest, that's the thing that worked against it. Was very slow moving and quite boring most of the time. The film was well acted, even by Arnie and the only thing that let it down was when Arnie spoke, especially this line: "You and me... we go back a long ways"
Forgettable film but decent one time watch 5.5/10

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The musical numbers were good and although the plot has been done a million times before, it covered all the bases and was quite enjoyable 7/10

This was a big step backwards. The story was all over the place and a really poorly written screenplay. The musical sections were also pretty lame. There were some funny parts but overall, I was yawning 5/10

End of Watch. It was quite good.
Inside Out - Yeah, that was pretty great. From the first 5 minutes, I thought it was going to be a much darker film about memories over time leading to eventual full memory loss or something (and who knows, that might be a future film) but I was very happy with what we got... Focusing on one particular moment/story made the film very cohesive, and said some fun/interesting stuff about the emotions of growing up. Oh, and there were some genuine big laughs in there too... overall, great stuff from Pixar.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 - It was alright but I missed the whole journey aspect and it kinda lacked the freshness from the first one.

Enemy is one of the weirdest films you're likely to watch -- it's all about symbolism and abstract meaning, you have to come to your own conclusion.

Minority Report - I'm gonna have to let this one sink in for a while but it was a nice ride, excellently made. Like with most Tom Cruise films tho it left me with a sense of detachment.
Definitely one of his better films and Spielberg back on form. That Philip K. Dick is amazing tbf. I'm not Cruise's biggest fan, but he is good in that.
