There's a first time for everything, mate. This WBA side is shocking, with the exception of Berahino. Unless they strenghten significantly in the next couple of weeks, I can't see them staying up.

Pulis is not all that, despite his rosey spell at Palace.
He knows how to get results though. And didn't they just sign Rondon for a record fee? They might be in the mix but I think they'll stay up, experience is important in a relegation battle.

Leave aside his wealth. Surely Everton make enough money on their own not to be so frugal?
You'd think, yes. But still, it doesn't help if your owner isn't filthy rich compared to other PL clubs.

Barkley kicking on this season?

Last season he had the world cup, then an early injury. Never really got going.

Remember arguing a while back that he's going to be better than Jack Wilshere, and i'm sticking by that. He just needed a bit of maturity, confidence and experience.

I got laughed at for saying Southampton would struggle this season. No Morgan Schneiderlin, Europa League commitments and by now the majority have figured them out and how to play against them. Tough season ahead for them.

Everton have a pretty good squad this year with the usual suspects plus likes of Deulofeu back in the mix.

Yup, I'm aware of that, read quite a bit about how strongly he feels for the club. Doesn't mean he won't be frugal though. Does any club in the PL spend less? They don't really need to be a global brand really, the PL makes a lot of money.
Nothing wrong with being frugal

I was replying to your comment about the money going into his own pocket

Very surprising result in that game. Great goals by Everton though. If Lukaku was more consistent, he'd be right up there with the best strikers in the league. He looked unplayable today.

Which is the 3pm game to watch, folks? Can't decide between Spurs-Stoke and Swansea-Newcastle..

Ofcourse, being prudent is good. Where does the money go then? Are they putting it back into the club in terms of infrastructure or youth academy?

@SilentWitness would be better placed to tell us.

I don't really take great interest in the football finance side of things as it bores me. However I can not grasp how every other club can outspend us every single year. There is something seriously not right with that.

That's what. I'm not talking about the owner putting in his money. Unless you guys are putting in the money into the club for infrastructure improvement, youth structure, etc or repaying some big debt, I don't understand where the money goes. You spend nothing. There's the lukaku transfer which shows you can if you want to.

Goal to Gomis after some nice interplay. Shelvey with the assist, Gomis going round the keeper to put the ball into an empty net. 1-0 Swansea, Newcastle have been second best so far.

It's baffling, even Aston Villa, who's owner seems to want rid of the club, spent 40m, Bournemouth 18, Norwich 10.

I mean, even without going mad, surely Everton could chuck 20-25m at the team.

EDIT: Then again, Villa did loose Benteke for mad money.
