First time he has ever subbed by Jose, must be this week distraction as he wasn't even injured.
Maybe I am wrong but IMO the thinking behind it was Chelsea pushing up and attacking more in the 2nd half trying to get that equaliser, which results in them leaving the defence with less protection and with more space behind them. Terry isn't the quickest so they would not be able to play such a way with him in the team as he would struggle if isolated one-on-one with City's pacey forwards. Zouma is quicker than Terry so I guess Mourinho was hoping that he would deal with the one-on-one situations with City's pacey forwards better than Terry would as he had less protection and cover than Terry had in the first half due to this change in approach.

Never thought Henry would be such a boring pundit

Jose Mourinho tells Sky Sports John Terry was withdrawn at half-time for tactical reasons:

"It was a decision. Zouma is the fastest defender we have in the squad. I know Man City are going to play counter attack and Zouma is a different player to John and was proven right because Zouma was in complete control.

"John is a player I have total trust for, with me he was never substituted, With other managers he was not selected and people thought his Chelsea career was over.

"If a manager has the right, I do, because I gave the chance to make him what he is, a fantastic player and a fantastic captain. I was proven right.

"One point from six is better than zero and worse than two. I am okay in mathematics, multiply 36 by three and I know how much it gives, I know the championship is more than mathematically open."

This panel are fecking cringeworthy. I can't even look at the telly anymore

good analysis.

only concern is we are going for a striker who is nearer 30..again if Pedro is the one. Bale would be excellent should it happen...and if we do end up getting a proven CB, we should be set.

Bale would be amazing, anybody on that level, we have the money too but sadly nobody seems available, at the least if we can improve the attack we should, Pedro does that.

I know Southampton tailored off a bit last season but for most of the season they were in the discussion for top four, they wouldn't go away, it was incredible what they did with that squad in my opinion, they should have finished in the bottom half. I think they did what they did because of their defence, they had the second best in the league, conceded one less than Chelsea, so if we don't have a quality attack this season hopefully we are defensively strong and i'm optimistic about that, De Gea back in goal if he stays, Darmian and Shaw shutting off the flanks, Schweinsteiger / Carrick and Schneiderlin shutting off the centre will help our centre backs immensely.

We'll see what happens, I'm hoping for 86 points, replicating our 23 match form from last season (after the awful first 10 games ending with that chelsea loss) but over the entire 38 this time round would get us 86, if somebody gets more than that then they deserve the league, I'd still consider it a successful season considering we got 70 last season!

It makes perfect sense but just watch the media blow this out proportion.

Keep playing like that and the Championship is exactly where they'll be :D

Can't help but be entertained by Chelsea in meltdown mode here. Still would rather they won or drew just so all our rivals dropped points at some stage.

Rooney will love this - takes the attention away from him ... until Tuesday :D

I had to turn it off. Could they not get Gary to run over from the commentary box?

Niall Quinn tries to say something controversial, realises he hasn't a leg to stand on and then panics.

Er but he has a leg to stand on...Terry was hauled off and effectively the blame landed on his door whether right or wrong. Maureen has an issue with him as 9 people out of 10 would pinpoint Fabregas in CM as the weak link in that first half. Maureen doesnt make flippant decisions re subs. He hammers home a point. Lets see if Terry starts next week. If not Quinn was correct.

Here's how the match report starts on Chelsea's website.

"A Ramires goal incorrectly ruled out for offside with Man City a goal ahead changed the complexion of this early-season Premier League fixture."
Thought you were joking. Just checked myself

More from Jose Mourinho, on BBC Sport: "It is a fake result. We were the best team by far in the second half. What they did in the first we did in the second.

"We dominated and when they feel they are in trouble, and they felt, they changed Aguero and Sterling, they try to recover control of the game is exactly when they scored the second goal. For me, completely fake.

"Their goalkeeper was good and we couldn't score. They were only coming up with long balls and even that we controlled that. Not one single problem in the second half, they had lots."

"Ten seconds of the game and Aguero was behind mydefensive line. We started immediately bad."

How can a goal be fake?

It was scored by child labourers in Thailand

Firstly De Gea is gone. Romero is it for us and I'm not worried. I'm certain we are getting a proven forward and winger, because van Gaal is going full swing for 4-4-2. Without speed we will have the type of matches we have had so far. Safe...scrappy but close wins. What is good though is we controlled both matches inspite of the odd scare. Finally Rooney. It is clear the harder he tries, the more he gets frustrated with himself and the worse his touch and control is. He is a confidence player and the sooner he pulls himself out of this rut the better. I remember him going through this a few years back. And he came back strong. Funnily enough I think Fellani coming back will help him.

City looked good today, but the same 3 players make them tick - silva, Yaya and Aguero.
Thought Hazard was good today, but something missing from Chelsea.
Our defence is going to have to be really focused because of the movement of their attack and AMs.

Aguero is the best striker in the league when fit, Silva absolutely magical, he is their orchestrater all good moves start through him. Raheem Hippy crack so far looks an absolute steal at 50mill( for liverpool haha)

Costa such an unlikable player, pure scum, but despite his theatrics and physciality, I noticed hes a very tricky and clever player
