Pexbo has it right I think. Spurs sweating to get it done quickly so that they don't lose the sale. I bet Kane has agreed terms and we're just playing hard ball with them by using Wilson to West Brom. Kane and Martial are coming! Christ, I'm being more of a muppet than I've been in weeks.

Completely agree with this but it doesn't stop squarely at Moyes' door. Fergie had clingers on in that squad he should have culled earlier with hindsight. And nor am I inexhonerating LVG, as others have said above, he has also culled some of his own arrivals so is clearly not impeccable.

However this is a general note of a captain steering a ship in a new direction toward the top while clearing deadwood and redressing standards.

I didn't think that when we bought RVP - I was delighted...and as if Madrid fans care about how much they spend.
Fair play if you didn't but I remember reading this from the newbs when we signed him and loads did! As well as lots of opposition telling us how we'd overpaid for a crock.

You can't replace a player except with other players and money. He was never going to stay so we did the very best possible is my point

You mean exactly like Van Gaal did last season?

LVG didn't exactly ditch at the beginning either.

Plus when Moyes took over the squad had ran away with the league title and should have reached the CL semi's atleast if not for Cakir.

When LVG took over the team had finished 6th and it was more clear.

It's obvious that the deal for DDG includes Navas, Real wouldn't wait the last day of the window to offer Navas + 40 mil EUR. Impossible.

Picture or it's a lie.

It's always hard to judge just how far a talent can go, but to me Leno is more rounded than Stegen and certainly more suited to the PL with the attributes to get up there with Courtoius, although I have a fancy that Karius may leapfrog him. This is the main factor for me, the PL is a different animal in general to other leagues and certainly where the keeping position is concerned.
may be. I can't say I am a good judge of GKs potential and their making it or not as they have a different role to other players. But to me, signing experience makes sense this season while we could go for potential next once we have our defence sorted for good. I don't think Navas is a bad goal keeper at all. He was the best goalkeeper in La Liga when Courtois was still playing for AM. He's not Fabianski or Mignelot imo.

Yeah I agree...just frustrating that we've lost our best player and will be worse because of it.

Apparently he was on his way to Trasbonzpor before Chelsea stepped..27 year old Senegalese defender..He's no Stones

He's coming in for £2.7 million. Another body in defense rather than a huge statement signing to be at the club for 10+ years like Stones was supposed to be.

Where has Ducker got £15m for Navas from?!? He cost them less than £8m a year ago didn't he?

Yeah his profile may have increased but he's hardly become a better player. He was very good and he still is now, seemingly no better and no worse.

It's not about how good he was in La Liga though, the requirements to be a good keeper there are very different to here. The first thing I look at when I think of a keeper for a PL team is can he cope with the ball in the air, Navas can't and that's why I think he'll cost us more points than we may be able to afford.

I'm convinced (just a feeling) both United and Madrid are sugar coating this deal.

I think its the other way around, Marca would let everyone think that Real bent us over backwards and our leaks would probably inflate the net value, so the truth is somewhere inbetween.

Id imagine Madrid will be using their propaganda machine to hike up Navas' value to make it look like they've paid less for the De Gea.

can Leno or other keeper deal with crosses on a regular basis then? I don't think Bundesliga is about crosses only though.

Maybe but in all probability (just a feeling tbh based on how we sell our players) we have been stuffed by Madrid. I am not sure I like the way our squad is shaping up.

you probably would "give a chance" to a squad who had sauntered to the previous year's title though wouldn't you

And that made it even more difficult for him to do. I think him wanting to give a chance to everyone was because they won the league rather than him rating some of them. A bit of a lose lose situation for him.
