When Fergie announced his retirement in May 2013, just over two years ago, this is what he said about the squad he was leaving behind...
Two years on, and that squad has been totally ripped apart..
Just six first team players remain (Smalling/Jones/Carrick/Valencia/Young/Rooney) and of those only two are cemented in the First XI. We've also brought in 13 new players (and counting) at a cost somewhere in the region of £250 million pounds.
So what do we think Fergie is making of all this right now? Surely he would never in his wildest dreams thought the turnaround of his squad would be so vast, so ruthless, and so quick?
"The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one."
