The writer is Philib De Brun aka @Malachian, been around United for some time. Big fan, and makes a good point

I was one of the few on here who didn't want LVG. Sadly, I've been proven right. We are now a dull team, with a random transfer policy. FFS.

The points about how the club is run compared to most other clubs these days is very interesting, and if those assumptions are correct we're likely to struggle for a longer period of time in my opinion. I am also of the opinion that it took us way too long to adapt to the transfer world introduced with the sugar daddies, and almighty agents like Mendes. It's a dirty business, but ignoring it, like SAF did, won't get you anywhere these days.

I guess, if this season goes pear shaped and LvG is hounded out like Moyes, we can always try to sign Klopp as his replacement. Or maybe Pep is available.

Let's not try and pin any of this current farce on Alex Ferguson.

If you asked Van Gaal for a proper honest answer of who's the better manager, him or Fergie, I wonder what'll be his reply.

The guy is nothing but an egotistical control freak who believes his methods can do no wrong. I had my doubts about his appointment in the first place but I've reached a point that I'm so sick and tired of listening to the garbage he preaches that I'm almost hoping he fails miserably, just so we can move on from this farce.

After all these years, he has finally found the perfect club and club president for him. Unlike at other places, Woodie is neither smart enough (football wise) or strong enough to question his nonsense approach regarding our football or transfers. He has a free reign to do whatever he wants, as exemplified by the fact that he has sold or loaned every attacking player we had without bringing in proper replacements. What an utter train wreck!

This will end badly for us if someone doesn't step up and stop this before it goes out of hand, if it hasn't already.

Our football on the pitch is boring but off field, anything but.

I honestly don't think he'll last the season.
There's something wrong with our selection process if we sack another manger after a short period of time. It's a cycle of hire, spend and fire at the moment which is what we laugh at other clubs for.

Well you've been proven right then mate. I was really excited when he became our manager last summer as for one reason or another I thought he was an attack minded coach that would revolutionise our style of play that had become stale.

I couldn't have been more wrong!!!!

I gave him every chance too and thought I might be wrong. Today is the just the peak of the LVG shambles. Horrible, horrible times for the fans. We have been spoilt up until 2 seasons ago to be fair. I'm gutted and gave never been so underwhelmed by big transfer signings. (I didn't want ADM either).

I just hope that if he hugely disappoints this season, we shouldn't be afraid to get rid by the end if the season. Especially if Klopp and Guardiola are available next summer.

What would annoy me is if next season Klopp goes to Liverpool and Guardiola to Chelsea, while we're stuck with LVG and Captain Rooney proudly boasting as to how they've just managed to scrape a champions league place for yet another year.

If Van Gaal doesn't win something this season he's gone. The away support are starting to question him, and if the hardcore turn the Old Trafford crowd will follow. Van Gaal has gutted the squad and if that decision doesn't result in success he'll carry the can. Deservedly so. The derby with Liverpool is now a massive game. Van Gaal has buttered up the home support for not behaving as he's come to expect from managing on the continent. However, if Van Gaal manages United to a loss at home against Liverpool after tearing the team to pieces, he might soon learn that while United fans might not wave white hankies at the first sign of trouble when you lose us we're lost for good.

Very true mate.

He really has been the complete opposite of everything I was expecting in all honesty.

Me too mate. I actually believe that a rookie like Gary Monk would have this squad playing a damn sight better than it currently is. Gary bloody Monk! What on earth does that say about the great ones "philosophy"?

I don't feel comfortable going into this season at all.

After Schuper Schunday I had all the confidence in the world, but since then all he's done is strip the squad down to the bone without adding any extra meat. With the amount of games we need to play this season, we're not prepared at all. As far as squad depth goes, we have Young, Fellaini and Herrera as cover for the front four (assuming it'll be Memphis, Mata, Martial and Rooney), with Valencia and Pereira as extra options. That's dangerously slim. One injury to one of our wingers and we're done for.

There better be some master plan that comes together by tomorrow. If Martial is the only player coming in it'll be generous to call our transfer strategy amateurish this summer. Six or seven attacking players out (Van Persie, Di Maria, Falcao, Nani, Januzaj and Hernandez, plus Wilson, possibly) two attacking players in (Memphis and Martial). It makes so little sense that I refuse to believe that we're done with our business.

I still remember the toxic atmosphere at Goodison, it was day our most loyal supporters turned on him, on the way out we all knew he was going to get sacked within a couple of days. I have been tied up with work so have missed a couple of games but the atmosphere is far from what it was like with Moyes towards the end of his reign but some of the talk and general feelings within the stands is similar to what we experienced with Moyes. Just feels like there are a lot of frustrated supporters just waiting to let rip at the next defeat.

My main problem is his choices make very little sense, you don't prepare for the season by selling the entire attacking line bar Rooney. :wenger:

I think his ego might have been hurt to a point that he could act irrationally. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes of course but some things don't make a lot of sense at the moment.

I think I can see green shoots, we're passing and keeping the ball more competently than I've ever seen a Utd team play. Okay we're obviously not the swashbuckling Utd of old but there's definite progress, LVG is the dictator we need and you know he's a tactical genius. I'm all for showing faith in him, the only manager out there I would prefer is Pep.

It actually feels like he lost it after Sunday and just started demanding changes all over the place. The handling of the squad is absolutely mental, it's almost like he's trying to get fired.

I'm starting to think that I don't actually like him very much.

I think this summer has been a rude awakening for even the most loyal of his supporters.

I was under the impression that he'd bring some balls and attacking football to the club. Instead we have an undroppable Rooney and absolute dross on the pitch. To add insult to injury, our transfer/squad policy has been downright reckless.

It's not that I want him fired or anything... whilst some of the things he's done/said have truly baffled me, I have also quite liked other things he's done since coming to the club...

It's just that... well... I don't really like him... if that makes sense.

SO when is Klopp coming, surely he must have received a message or two from Ed to be patient and enjoy his holiday now because then he will be working ten years like a United manager?

so you would rather stick to him till the end of his contract if he continues like that? He will destroy the team completely while winning nothing. Moyes was SAF's pick and LVG was proven choice and possibly best available manager at that time, the change was needed..

No United fan likes to see what's been happening for last two years but perhaps it's not always that simple.. next time we should do better

One way or the other, after this transfer window LVG has put his neck onto the block. He had excuses before but now he has moved out most of the deadwood and brought in his own players. If he fails now it is on him.

Can you imagine if we're a couple of goals down against the Scouse on September 12th, with only Fellaini on the bench to look to for goal? Can you imagine if we lose because Benteke bullies Blind?

This is the biggest United vs Liverpool game for years.
