Where's Dave at the moment? Assuming he's in Spain because of the international games but has he been spotted anywhere heading towards a medical?

Ya if this wasn't happening we would have heard about it by now I think.

I imagine so. Balague was suggesting that they may not make in time. Remember when we tried to get Contrao (sp?) but just missed the deadline.

Probably got stopped in traffic, by Madrid fans who're kicking his car.

Though it's highly possible that De Gea already signed and registered and Madrid haven't revealed it yet.

the deal is all done, they can announce when they want, it was just the paperwork which needed to be done, which I guess could already be done now
I didn't know Welbz was so ITK.

Could have just had it wherever Spain are based. Same happened with Ozil, though we've not ever heard reports about his medical.

That famous paperwork dud. We'll hopefully the paperwork was late again.

Is there not a loan window or is that only domestic?

In the end, Im impressed with how the club has played this.

We made a huge error in not persuading De Gea to sign a longer term contract 12-18 months ago. We could still have sold him now, in compassion for his personal life issues, but we would have been in charge of the negotiation and gotten 40million for him - Real AMdrid were going to sign him no matter what.

For whatever reason that did not happen, you cant cry over spilt milk. So given the situation we found ourselves in at the end of the season, this is just about the best we could have gotten out of the situation. We held no cards whatsoever except losing 25 million quid and having a demotivated keeper on our books who could never have performed as well as he could have. And making him rot in the reserves whilst losing a selling fee is neither rational nor sensible and lose-lose-lose for all concerned.

So getting 40 million Euro's (cash and kind in Navas) is a very good recovery job, given the circumstances. The lesson learned is that major talents should have contacts renewed 18-24 months before expiry, or when they are in red hot form and feeling good about the club.

Everybody expected De Gea to leave, it just hurts because he does not like us as much as we like him. But he did little wrong in this episode, he gave us 3 very good years service at a very reasonable salary (football wise). He is a nice guy and I wish him well/

They generally give you extra time after the window shuts for stuff like this where everything is agreed.

... Balague was the same one who said it.
Did he tweet it? Do you mind replying to this with the tweet if so cause he's blocked me on twitter, meaning I can't view his tweets. I got angry at him a couple of years ago after the Herrera/fake lawyers fiasco

To be honest I hope it has gone through. Hardly good for the player or us.

Apparantly La Liga aren't like that. Balague says it's never been done before.
Really? Hmmm. This is one of those "its not my money" times, where I'd actually split my sides if it falls through. Its not like we havent looked like idiots enough today. Might as well share the lunacy.
