Don't understand why people are saying United handled this badly, we're not the ones who handed over the documents to the Spanish FA 28 minutes late. If Navas' contract or work permit took longer than expected then Madrid should have known and started the process before they got documents from us. They're the ones that fecked this up.
Not even that. Madrid offered NO MONEY at all until yesterday. Yesterday Morning was their first ever bid for De Gea.
How anyone is blaming us for this (the clue is the three different stories as to why it is our fault coming from madrid) I have absolutely no idea.
The papers write article as if Utd are desperate to see this move go through and we somehow took it to the last day.
By hook or by crook Madrid will force this through today with special dispensation of some kind. Remember when City were allowed to sign a goalkeeper when the window was shut? I garauntee all their keepers are all of a sudden injured and unable to play.
Can't see it not happening. It's in everybody's best interest that this goes through.

Fairly ridiculous that posters are blaming United here. Madrid wanted their player, we wanted a price. We took a tough stand earlier on, but that's pretty natural- every club does it. Not really our fault that Madrid made a bid with the price anywhere we wanted only towards the end of the window- it was naturally a risk.
I don't see why United would purposely botch this deal. The fee and player exchange lined up was a decent deal in the end. It draws a line under it all. We get a better keeper than Romero and an okay sum of money. It's collapsed and now we have a distraught De Gea, no sum of money, and fecking Romero.
To me, Madrid have more reason to pull the deal. They can get him for free in a year now, and keep Navas.

Apparently there's never been a successful appeal for a late submission. So we'll have to see how Real influence things or not.
I just read that the deal is off because the papers came in late. That would be awesome.

Yea it seems that its down to Madrid to register the transfer with the LFP and not United. So all the blame lies at Madrids door for this one, even if it was sent in the wrong format or password protected surely there was a phone number they could call to get the password, unless there was no translator available to relay the message between Spanish and English.
Heard it was password protected and when they finally cracked it(philosophy) with one minute left.....it was the wrong format.

That's a life of a professional footballers. Suck it up, and play your best. Euro is around the corner, so I doubt he'd be "disctracted" for long time.

Yes, yes it is. United have a FIFA time stamp proving they sent it in time. That is all they have said. Madrid have countered with three different stories as to how its actually all our fault.
In other words, Madrid are lying. I'm not sure why that comes a surprise to anyone.
1) It was the last day and such delays could always happen (Ex, Coentrao). Is it United's fault that Madrid were sitting on their asses all this while?

If Madrid wanted it to go through so bad they should have offered up the right money 2 months ago, or 2 weeks ago, hell even 2 days ago. It's their fault for leaving it to the last minute.

Hes getting nearly 4 million quid in wages, he can swim through shit if that is what the club want for that. Hes not a victim here, hes a very rich man being paid more than a lifetimes a earnings a year to play football for Manchester United. I'm sure he will manage.
And I think you give it too much importance. As said, with Euro coming up, and generally, being a professional, I don't see him being unmotivated.

He would be a free player, could sign for Madrid in 2016. They can't have transfers, but can sign free agents.
God knows what happened. What I do know is that this deal was handled poorly and we're the ones who will lose the most out of it. We're now left with a pissed off keeper who will leave on a free next summer and a disaster waiting to happen as his cover
Well it's clearly their fault the whole thing went right down to the wire. They could have signed De Gea weeks ago, if they weren't quibbling over the fee for the possible future best goalkeeper in the world.
None of us know exactly why United missed the deadline last night, or whether they were given enough time by Madrid to do due diligence at their end. So it's possible this is also Madrid's fault.
Mind you, Woody has established a bit of a reputation for transfer farce. So this does look like one to add to his growing list of bizarre cock-ups.
It's all relative. To them, getting paid 4m is normal. Therefore you can cancel all that stuff that outrages the normal man and boil them down to the over emotional, selfie taking youngsters that they are.
