Saturday Night Spies
To my fellow 531 voters, we did it!!!
But we didn't wait till the last day of the window. That's essentially what the statement clarified. Its the buying clubs prerogative to initiate the contact, which United is saying Madrid initiated yesterday. Nothing much United can do about it.Why did we wait till the last day of the window? Did that help us in anyway?
'We showed Madrid', that is good and all, but was it advantageous to us?
Nothing is signed yet is it? Is there still a chance this all fecks up and Dave stays?
As someone said already, United are the selling club. Madrid wanted him so it was them who waited until the last day. We all know he would like to play for a club from his home town, and that Madrid were interested in him but the bid came late(last day) and was then screwed up by Madrid, and it is my opinion that Perez made that decision. Why did we wait till the last day of the window? Did that help us in anyway?

Your post looked all emotional. What a strange thing to say.
Yup. Shame it closed around 1pm. Was on something like 43.6% yesterday I think so some switched back over.To my fellow 531 voters, we did it!!!
Hi 5!To my fellow 531 voters, we did it!!!
I never changed my Yes vote (I had it in for months).Yup. Shame it closed around 1pm. Was on something like 43.6% yesterday I think so some switched back over.
My vote's been on staying for a couple of weeks now.
Voted yes at the start and stuck to my guns!
Also read the last 70 pages of this thread and some of it was comedy gold! That gif from Olly had me in tears!
Apparently so!![]()
How did we wait? Do we tell Madrid when to bid?
If the roles were reversed and we fecked up a signing by leaving it too late would you blame the selling club?
Because the move was not really favoured by their fans and Perez is not exactly seen in the most favourable light there right now after certain events with Ramos and Cassillas. Also Navas has become a fan favourite. So perez got cold feet.why do you think they had concerns?
No it doesn't. It says we're delighted he's still a United player, not with how it all happened.
It only says that if you intentionally twist the wording to suit your own views. Literally.
No you're not just lacking in positivity, you've become dreadfully negative. Almost as predictable as Devlish, albiet an articulate and witty version. And I've always liked you as a poster.
It was a poorly written statement but it's simply setting the FACHTS straight after another club has put the blame on United. I don't see an issue. That's what you'd expect any corporate to do especially when the other side has submitted something in such detail. And that sentence which a few of you picked up on isn't even contradictory. We agreed to sell De Gea because he wanted to go, and we accepted a deal we thought was fair for us too. But once it didn't go through we got to keep our star man. It's not what we intended when we submitted the paperwork, but De Gea staying (albiet not with a contract running down) IS what the club wanted.
Did the MEN ever credit Olly for that GIF? They should do.
That's the worst analogy I've ever read. Did your car want to leave you?It was always my preference not to sell my car to my next door neighbour.
Upon my next door neighbour first offering to buy my car, I immediately decided to sell it to him.
I did everything necessary to try and sell my car to my next door neighbour, even though if I didn't want to sell my car, I didn't have to. I tried really really hard to sell my car to him.
My neighbour messed up the paperwork so he couldn't buy my car.
I'm delighted that I still have my car. I am not 8 years old or drunk.
That didn't really help us, did it? It didn't allow us to get a first choice keeper, which already cost us in the last match. And now we do not know if De Gea will be in his element to contribute for us again.
Like I said, the statement, which I found childish from both clubs, is irrelevant. The question to ask is, did all this posturing help United in anyway? I am not sure of that answer yet. I guess we'll find out in the following weeks.

Also, you'd have very little time to get a replacement car, and the only one being offered had never driven on it's intended terrain before and has crazy lambo style doors that flap open all the time. Analogies.
Did you mistakenly think the club was called Moanchester United when you decided to become a fan? I'm sure you'd fit right in at that club. Why did we wait till the last day of the window? Did that help us in anyway?
'We showed Madrid', that is good and all, but was it advantageous to us?
Edurne would be the shite Pioneer head unit you only listen to whilst stuck on the M6. Worthless.Analogous to Edurne then?
Never in doubt. To my fellow 531 voters, we did it!!!
If this was just about 10 Million signing on fee United could easily offer him the same incentive and more, and still be better of both financially and on the field on the basis we'd have to pay 30 Million for a decent keeper in the summer if De Gea left.

I'm exactly the same as I've always been. All that's changed is we've got a maniac as a manager and people don't like being confronted by that, but it is not going to go away...even if I do.
Complete agree.Real Madrid had to be the proactive party in the transfer, United didn't have any incentive to facilitate the deal. If they wanted De Gea, they should've paid the appropriate fee, and tied the strings a while ago instead of grandstanding, and briefing Marca every single day. As for United, Van Gaal felt Romero could do a job, and that's fine by me, everyone knew he'd have his ups and downs but if the manager wants to play him, then that's the way it shall be, the upper management can't second guess everything he does, that will only undermine his authority as the de facto head of football operations. Van Gaal's reasons for excluding De Gea are partly understandable too, even though I personally don't agree with this approach, he felt that De Gea couldn't compartmentalize the white noise and perform to the best of his abilities, hence his omission from the starting XI, and even the bench.
The statement wasn't irrelevant or childish from United's end. Madrid started the mudslinging competition for some odd reason, and United had to present their viewpoint, it's not often (if ever?) that you see clubs of the magnitude of Madrid resorting to petty bickering to absolve themselves of any blame for a failed transfer. That's not how clubs should operate. United needed to repay the courtesy in kind, instead of whimpering in a corner. The posturing wasn't designed by United, the club clearly stated that Madrid would have to pay a fee approaching Buffon's when he joined Juventus, the onus was on Real to come through. It's all fairly simple to be honest, and far too big a deal is being made out of it.
We may not share any blame in what conspired on the last day, but we definitely are to blame for not sorting the situation earlier.
Does it count if I changed about 16 times? To my fellow 531 voters, we did it!!!
No, I think De Gea will play and play well.Isnt this worse for United? Instead of having a very good keeper in Navas you now have a world class keeper sitting on the bench or playing within himself with his head not in it to run out his contract when he'll go for free? Or lose him in January.
To my fellow 531 voters, we did it!!!
Again, how very strange.Your post looked all emotional.
And club have never attacked De Dea personally.
To my fellow 531 voters, we did it!!!
Navas didn't want to come, swap one keeper for another who would rather be in Spain? Weve now got a longer period to think of a long term replacementIsnt this worse for United? am I right in thinking DDG will still almost certainly join Madrid in January or next summer though? For free. No, I think De Gea will play and play well.
