How are the Madrid fans feeling now, are they that bothered about DeGea not being there, or more angry at the mess around of the club?
Not sure, you'll have to ask @carvajal this, he's the one living in Spain and following what's going on. I don't think fans are too bothered about this, I know I'm not at least.

Only if De Gea signs a new contract could we say he played it well. But all he did was not go to Madrid and offer De Gea in that case given the reported events of the last 24 hours.

It remains to be seen a) whether De Gea can motivate himself (sure he will though), b) whether Van Gaal plays him at all if he doesn't sign a new contract - he seems to hold grudges after all and c) whether De Gea actually has had it with Madrid.

My guess is that Mendes is trying to cover is arse by now using spin to reduce collateral damage and retain his client.

If De Gea doesn't sign a new contract, and frankly, unless he really has had it with Madrid, then I doubt he will, then having De Gea for one year and then losing him for nothing is hardly a blinder.

Given that De Gea has harped on about family and home so much, somehow I doubt he is signing a new contract.

One extra season with DDG is still a better result for the club and losing him for free than getting a relatively small fee and an unproven GK. I for one feel a lot more comfortable with DDG in net even if his heart is in Spain over Romero or taking a gamble that Navas would settle in England.

DDG will earn the club points. which by May will likely be worth a lot more than the £18 million cash we would have in the bank.

Woodward's stance from this has shown he and the club arent willing to be pushed around by the big Spanish clubs or be held to ransom by a player that has legally binding contract to play until 2016.

David is a professional, he won't cut off his nose to spite his face. The club didn't sabotage his transfer, Madrid did by trying to get us to sell on the cheap. I fully expect him inbetween the sticks against Liverpool and to continue his form of the last two seasons. His ultimate goal is to be Spain's number 1 and with the Euros next year he has to give it his all to be going to France as a guaranteed starter.

LvG may be a nutcase in some scenarios but I don't think he'll give DDG an ultimatum. He knows that is not going to help. Playing the player and showing he has faith in him will be more likely to yield the club better results.

I hope De Gea got a contract in the post this morning. Feeling as pissed off as he is at the moment he'd probably sign anything we gave him.
especially if it is even larger than the most recent contract he rejected. I would make him feel even more loved now and increase our offer to him.

WTF is Skeletor doing there?
He's a troll

We could be really cruel and stick him the rested for the rest of the year, but that wouldn't do us any favours in terms of results or dressing room chemistry.

Hopefully after all this he will realise the grass isn't always greener, and might just stick around a bit longer.

No doubt he will be off next summer though I bet.

He's not getting enough hugs I think. No juander he wants to leave.

Why didn't Real allow Navas to fly to Manchester for a medical?

If we wanted to be jerks we could get him to sign a new contract.
Its not just the euros, how enthusiastic are real going to be about giving him a big signing on fee and a hefty wage if hes been sat in the stands for a year?

Dont think we will, it'd be a pretty classless and counter productive move.

Anyone else get the impression David is a bit thick?

this. Initially i had the impression he was the quiet tactician plotting to get exactly what he wanted out of this situation. Now i feel like hes actually daft and left everything to mendez and now feels like the donkey of the day

Got a quick question. If there is like a hour left and we wan't to sign someone who plays in Germany, how do we get him. No way will he come within 1 hour.

You do know the player doesn't actually have to be in the country to sign a contract? We have this thing called the internet now where you can supposedly transfer documents instantly.

My mate works as a hairdresser in Manchester...LvG came into him and said he was after a Brazilian....

Read what you want into that

Or Edurne, who's been badgering Mendes to make the move happen all along while Dave just doesn't give a feck and was following along.

LVG hates Brazilians,

I'm calling bullshit on this one.

It has already been said that he refused to follow his agent advice.

How often do you come up with these stories? I swear i see you every week post some ITK stuff.

do you understand the concept of a legally binding contract?

Clearly you don't, because once a legally binding contract is up, you are free to do whatever you want.

DDG hasn't made the decision he wouldn't play (as far as we know). LVG decided he wasn't up to it.

What sense of entitlement has he shown might I ask?

I reckon it's best for de gea (and us) to forget everything happened in this saga and play on as if nothing happened.

look at schneiderlin for example last season, reportedly unhappy after saints refusing to let him go and left this tweet "six years at saints ruined in one hour" or something? later he played on and took large part in saints' success last season.

I'm willing to forget anything ever happened... especially willing to forget after watching Romero in the Swansea-game!

Come on David, sign a new contract and become the player of the season once more!
