Hope we dont reply to this one, just say we have no further comment to make and stand by our first statement.
Let him talk shit.

I presume we can show de gea the contracts and junk from our end

I'm absolutely terrible at cryptic crosswords but I got that in about 5 seconds!

Yes, it's easy with google. ;)
I'm quite good at them but it stumped me until I managed to get the first and last letter of Rovers. You can over-work clues sometimes and when you fall into that trap, it's infuriating.

Yep, because every superstar that has joined Real Madrid was handled with utter class...

How embarrassing for a fully grown adult to act like this. Full on toys out of the pram situation here.

Who's telling the truth (and how much of it) is obviously very hard to tell, but the main difference for me is that in United's statement there's talk about the FA backing them up and offering assistance to Madrid, if they wish to take it further. That tells me that United did everything in time on their end. Whether or not they stalled on a few steps - which seems to be Madrid's primary defence - doesn't really matter, does it? It's up to Madrid to get their documents in order and be ready to finalise it all, and they seemingly weren't for whatever reason. I also think that the fact that so many different versions come out of the Madrid-propaganda-machine speaks in United's favour.
La Liga have backed up Real too, but I agree that the difference does seem to be that United are willing to show their timestamped documents and Real don't really have anything to match that.

I just hope United don't respond. If the media asks for a comment just say we're happy to present our proof to an independent body (FIFA?) who can give their verdict. Obviously Perez won't go down that route as he knows the cock up was all his fault.

He said that De Gea contract was agreed in the afternoon, later they sent Navas contract to United and was sent back 8 hours later.

No the initial tweet about us only approaching them for the deal 2 hours before the deadline. So his timeline is 2 hours before deadline, we approach Real about doing a deal and yet there's a magical 8 hours squeezed out for us to delay the transfer.

Words of a man under pressure. Christ, that is desperate stuff. "I know people ...". Like a player would care how our administration work.
Florentino only goes publicly when the associates are upset and when the press is hard with him. It´s too obvious and scripted. Marca published now the new about the interview, titled "We couldn´t abandon De Gea". Some of the most voted comments in Marca: "I would like to know what good madridistas think about the behavior with Keylor", "you shouldn´t have abandoned Keylor", "Florentino resign, stop the lies", "the brainwashing started", "now is United fault? and when you got Cristiano, you are classless Floren". Anyway I think that Florentino won´t have real problems with this.

Well, it's hardly a rock-solid defence of Madrid based on the quotes I've seen. He's just saying that Madrid's story in general is closer to the truth based on what he knows. And right after that he says that he spoke to Madrid about the deal on Monday evening. Hm, I wonder why he believes what he knows is closer to Madrid's story.

He also makes a point of saying "What happened, as far as I know, [..]" so it's pretty clear that he doesn't know the full picture and because of that probably knows next to nothing about United's side of events.

What is the general attitude of Real fans towards Keylor Navas?

He doesn't really seem rated here but apparently Real fans are very taken with him?

As long as we can prove to De Gea that it was all Real's fault then we really don't need to respond. Maybe stick a sly dig into the press release if he signs a new contract.
Shouldn't be a problem - just send Mata and Herrera to subtlely push the idea when in their scrap-booking class.

Surely Mendes knows how we work given he put 2 players late with us last year and 1 this.

Possibly the only valid point he makes is Herrera and Coentrao, but that was during the flappy summer of 2013.

I thought they cancelled coentrao because they couldn't get a replacement?

Back then Woodward were genuinely inexperienced as well. Still, were we really that interested in Herrera that summer? And wasn't Coentrao down to Madrid pulling the plug because they couldn't sign a new player in time?

Yup:
BBC said:
It is understood that the initial paperwork was submitted before the 23:00 BST deadline on Monday. This contained the outline of the deal, the signature of the player and both clubs.

That gave all parties an hour to complete the deal. But Madrid backed away when their attempt to recruit a replacement left back, Guilherme Siqueira from Granada, fell through because he instead joined Benfica.

"Flappy summer"

Woodward's entire tenture has been flappy. Signing Di Maria for 60 million, spending bucketloads on Martial, the failed attempts of signing Neymar, Ramos, Bale, Muller.

Interesting, so even Madrid fans don't really believe him? Won't it be a problem for him at the next election?

I'm sure someone later revealed that we had been scouting Herrera for 3 years prior to the collapse of the move that summer. And yes, they did pull the plug due to that.
