Can in German main national team? He was pretty underwhelming in the U21 euros. Surely there´s better than him?

We have almost no good fullbacks. So that's where Can will play. Lahm was the only one, he retired.

He is not playing midfield but right fullback. In my eyes the right side is more defensive like this (with Can and Schweinsteiger securing him) - and that makes sense as this leaves Müller more freedom.

Pretty sure Bellarabi will play on the right.

Scotland are garbage, so nothing new there.

Should have started with Griffiths, he needed to drop Scott Brown too, having a chocolate hardman in midfield isn't any good if he can't actually do anything with the ball.

Anybody know the mathematical outworking of the Scots losing to Georgia, as regards Ireland?

Łukasz Fabiański - Łukasz Piszczek, Kamil Glik, Łukasz Szukała, Maciej Rybus - Tomasz Jodłowiec, Grzegorz Krychowiak - Kamil Grosicki, Krzysztof Mączyński, Arkadiusz Milik - Robert Lewandowski

Rybus at lb, Shitłowiec, Mączyński. Jesus welp, go Poland.

Strachan found out. So many rank average Championship players and shit like Mulgrew and Forrest in because they're at Celtic.

Strachan is a moron.

Griffiths > Fletcher. Gordon > Marshall.

When will managers realise both Brown and Mulgrew are complete and utter shite?!

Grant Hanley should never be in any international squad. No talent, just a thug and undoubtedly the ugliest bastard I've ever seen.

I remember Fletcher years ago at Hibs, people were talking about Real Madrid going for him

Same old shite from Scotland. Looked like amateurs some of them, hard to believe Morrison gets a game for a PL team.

Not a shot on target Sky just said. No doubt they will all play out their skin and be "bravehearts" on Monday but it's the same problems not winning the games they should be, the fact they can do it against better teams shows their mentality.

Scotland on 11 pts, if Ireland manage to somehow beat the mighty Gibraltar they're on 12 pts after 7 games played.

thank you based Georgia.

Oh and good luck tonight. I can't watch due to gf but I hope the game will be good. May the best team win. ;)

Forrest has been excellent recently. I'm far from his biggest fan but he's played well in the past month or so.

Just saw the Scottish line-up. They would've been relegated from the PL this season. Norwich/Sunderland level.

Fair enough, and Griffiths should've started but the dross like Forsyth, Anya, Greer and Russell being in the squad is pathetic. Strachan has picked pish like that since he's been put in charge and he's been found out. They're about 150th in the world and we set up to nick a goal. fecking shocking

I wouldn't go that high to be honest. I'd be looking in the Championship.

I agree. Too many players in the squad because of where they play and I include Celtic players in that. Guys like Hanley as well bring nothing.

That's been happening long before Strachan mind. It's the mindset up here that if you play for some English no marks you must be good enough for the national team.

Anya's not too bad a player. Quick and can be quite dangerous to the opposition when he's on form. He's been one of our best players. Shite tonight, though.

As poor as tonight was, I'm not sure Strachan has a lot better to choose from. The pool of players we have available is far from remarkable. Still, even then, tonight's result was still very poor.

Players at Aberdeen and Hearts must be wondering how they'll get into the squad. Absolutely mental how someone like Shinnie who was the best full back in the country last year, and been very good at full back and in central midfield since joining Aberdeen can't make it into the squad. Only 5 players based in Scotland in the squad and none outside Celtic is poor and there is a lot of talented players who would offer more than the Championship clowns in the team.

Wales have had some top draw players over the years (Giggs, Hughes, Rush etc) to prop up what is usually a very limited squad, but none have ever come close to Bale in terms of what he can do for the team...well not since perhaps John Charles in the 1950s, but that was another era. He's on another level. I remember watching Giggs play for Wales and he was usually utterly useless when things weren't going well for the team - then the following week he could put in a MOTM performance for Man United because of the players around him. Bale doesn't need anyone else because he's good enough to win games by himself. I would go as far as to say that Bale has overtaken Giggs as a player.

I have to strongly disagree with this. Bale has someway to go to overtake Giggs.

I don't rate him. He's quick but he has no end product. It's weird how he picks Ritchie in the squad who's a better player and was actually very good for Bournemouth and a main creative player for them and keeps him on the bench. Need to be looking at younger players who will be dying for a chance.

Bale's got a lot to do to go down as a better player than Giggs in the long-term, since Giggs had staggering longevity, but he's definitely as good a player as Giggs was.

His end product definitely needs improving, but he's definitely a very useful asset with his pace. Not too bad on the ball either.

No Rudy, Can...

Are there really no quality RBs in bundesliga? Why are the RBs always CBs and CMs?

No German ones, no. And it's not only a lack of rightbacks, we don't have quality leftbacks either.

Can Shinnie play RB? Any one would be better than Hutton and I rate Shinnie highly.

The ignorance to those outside of Celtic/England was evident when Armstrong could never get called up. He was excellent when at Dundee Utd.

Oh I am an ardent follower of your national team since 2002 (I was in love with klose's saults since the SA game :p) and I was surprised to see a CB as left and right backs in the World Cup and the lahm in midfield.

Isn't grosskreutz a full back who can play both sides? I thought he was. Can't be worse than Can though? He was poor as a RB last season for Liverpool.

The main problem was the poor form of the front four. Fletcher's like an old man up there, technically he's good but his one-footedness squandered an easy chance and fundamentally he's not on it. The other problem is Griffiths' hold-up play is gash so no wonder he started on the bench. I was disappointed in how our central midfield pair seemed unable to raise the tempo in the second-half, it was all pretty staid and monotonous, trudging our way to a 1-0 defeat. Mulgrew still thinks like a defender when he's out wide, rarely overlapping and preferring to cross from uselessly deep positions.

Hutton was one of our best players tonight. Says a lot about the rest, but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater on the back of one game in a group where we've played pretty well.

Oh he can definitely be worse, Grosskreutz is a player who's only got by due being a utility-player.

But he's got the most German sounding second name to go with one of the most English sounding first names in existence, surely that counts for something.

Kevin Großkreutz, what a brilliant combination.
