Bundesliga 2015/2016

Decent game between Mainz and Dortmund, glad the latter won as while it'll not matter long term I'd like to see one team stay relatively close to Bayern, at least until the winter break.

Weigl is getting better with each game, he's playing that holding midfield role like a seasoned pro rather than a 19 year old.

Bayern: Neuer - Thiago, Lewandowski, Rafinha, Alonso, Boateng, Bernat, Lahm (K), Vidal, Müller, Alaba
bench: Ulreich - Martinez, Costa, Kirchhoff, Gaudino, Kimmich, Pantovic

I'm very happy that Costa doesn't start. He played a lot of games and just came back from the international matches in Southamerica. With Götze, Robben, Ribery and Coman all injured/not fit enough to play, we'll need Costa at 100% on Tuesday away against Arsenal.

Without any genuine wide players, I guess it's a diamond, something like:

Lewandowski - Müller
Thiago
Vidal --- Lahm
Alonso
Bernat Alaba Boateng Rafinha
Neuer
I'm excited to see Lewandowski and Müller together in a rather oldschool 2 man strike-partnership.

Bremen: Wiedwald - Gebre Selassie, Lukimya, Galvez, S. Garcia - Bargfrede, Fritz, Junuzovic, Bartels - Lorenzen, Ujah

The other games:

Schalke: Fährmann - Riether, Höwedes, Matip, Aogo - Geis, Goretzka - Sane, Meyer, Choupo-Moting - Di Santo
vs
Hertha: Jarstein - Weiser, Langkamp, Lustenberger, Plattenhardt - Haraguchi, Darida, Skjelbred, Cigerci - Ibisevic, Kalou

Wolfsburg: Benaglio - Träsch, Naldo, Dante, Rodriguez - Guilavogui, Gustavo - Caligiuri, Kruse, Draxler - Dost
vs
Hoffenheim: Baumann - Kaderabek, Süle, Bicakcic, Toljan - Rudy, Strobl, Polanski, Schmid - Volland, Vargas

Hamburg: Adler - Diekmeier, Djourou, Spahic, Ostrzolek - Ekdal, Holtby - Müller, Hunt, Ilicevic - Lasogga
vs
Leverkusen: Leno - Donati, Tah, Papadopoulos, Boenisch - Bellarabi, Kramer, Toprak, Brandt - Kießling, Hernandez

Augsburg: Hitz - Verhaegh, Callsen-Bracker, Klavan, Max - Baier - Esswein, Kohr, Altintop, Werner - Caiuby
vs
Darmstadt: Mathenia - Garics, Sulu, Caldirola, Junior Diaz - Heller, Niemeyer, Gondorf, Rausch - Rosenthal - Wagner

Is Toprak playing in midfield? Interesting choice with Calhanoglu on the bench.

No idea. Looks like it, but can't say. I didn't even check if the line-ups are correct, just copied them from the spox ticker. Most of the Bundesliga sides started to post their line-ups as pictures, which is so so stupid. I'm way too lazy to type them all down here and posting all the big pictures sucks as well.

It has to be either him or Papdopoulos (I think he played a couple of games as a #6 for Schalke, but imho he's way too limited to be a midfielder), otherwise their CM would be way too thin. But it seems like a strange lineup in general: two defensive CMs, both Kießling and Chicharito - with Mehmedi on the bench. You might expect something like that against Bayern or Dortmund, but against Hamburg it seems too unbalanced.

Was a clear pen on Lewandowksi there. Ridiculous defending by the Werder player

Müller  . I've no clue if he wanted that first touch to play out like that, but beautiful nevertheless.

Müller is such a monster. What a run into the box and great composure. 1:0

I think we should stop assuming that everything he does is just pure luck. He's a gifted football player.

As one of his youth coaches once said to him: "Always being lucky is called "skill"."

I never assumed that everything he does is just pure luck, quite the opposite.

Thomas Muller, what a hero. Name any season from the last 5 or so and they're all good seasons, the man has a great injury record and is very consistent in his performances. Worldclass. I highly respect players like him even though he is such a pain in the arse against Dortmund.

We really struggle to create any chances without Costa at the moment.

That's a penalty right there. Horrible tackle by the bremen GK. Looked very dangerous.

We don't have a single wide player on the pitch. It's not necessarily Costa, even Coman would help. Just someone who offers something different to all the narrow attackers. But with Ribery, Robben, Coman injured and Costa rested, it's obviously a problem.

Bremen are defending well though and we could have had 2 penalties and scored at least one more.

2nd penalty on Lewandowski not given. If we win, noone will talk about it, so I hope people at least take notice, since they'll want to complain about a Bayern bonus again next time around.

I wouldn't mind Martinez for Bernat now, and of course a few minutes for main man Kimmich

Schalke with a last minute win. Great stuff!

Silly offside by Lewandowski. Not his best game, despite the two pens he should've gotten.

Ridiculous that this wasn't a penalty and a red card:

Boateng with another fantastic game by the way. That one tackle was beautiful and his long balls over the top create more chances than any other player in the team does at the moment.

Absolutely disgusting by both the keeper and the ref. Also: Typical german commentator. Too cowardly to call refs out on their bullshit decisions.
Gotta love the OP of the "Overrated 11" thread. Boateng

Yeah, the point about Boateng only looking good because he's so well protected is completely insane. He saved our ass so many times and is so important to the build-up. Our by far weakest part of the team is the midfield for quite a while now. It's not surprising, because since the treble winning season almost every midfielder has been more injured than fit, with the exception of Alonso, who's clearly past his best and who's actually the one who struggles heavily if anyone around him is having a bad day.

what is wrong with Gladbach's medical department.

So Xhaka tears a ankle ligament and starts ?! :wenger:

The real surprising today was the next away win from Darmstadt in Augsburg...

13 points - only two losses and 12:12 goal difference after 9 matches...

Nah, Augsburg just aren't the same team as last year and Darmstadt does well so far.

I'm just glad that Lewandowski is okay after that challenge by the keeper. We can't lose him now, especially since noone knows who's going to be fit for Arsenal. :nervous:

Costa, Lewa, Müller in attack, maybe Robben of the bench? Midfield and defense shouldn't be a problem.

Coman could be fit as well, right? Will be interesting to see who'll play when everyone's back. Costa on the left wing, Robben on the right? Costa OR Robben with Coman on the other wing? Just one winger? Can't wait to see that.

I doubt you'll live to see that.

Why would Coman start if everyone is fit?
