Carlo Ancelotti to Bayern for 16/17 | Confirmed

This feels like when Pep went to Bayern, Ancelotti to Madrid, Mourinho to Chelsea and we got Moyes. Doesn't sound good, let's hope it's not true.

That's the plan B taken then. Bayern are fecking ruthless. Hallmark of a top club.

Spot on if true. Ruthless, decisive, no feckwittery. "Can't decide if you want to stay? Bye then"

If we are to aspire to any other team it is this one.

They can't relate as Bayern have done little-no wrong for a while now, fired LVG at the best time and still got the juicy benefits from his reign. No real rival to contend with or watch grow stronger year after year.

"Boo Hoo we only get to the CL finals/Semi's life sucks for us."

In alot of ways it's very easy to criticise what you see as hysterical when everything is rosey in your own camp.

Wow. Some of you are apparently adults.... Right?

No chance. What a silly reaction. Its some bellend who has been so far wide of the mark recently you would be better off getting your information from the man in the moon.

Seriously, as an adult you might want to read the thread. This point has been addressed at least twice, so stop talking shite.

was this forum always as hysterical as it is today? Or is this what daddy leaving has done to you?
I don't expect you to understand. We are facing a situation where our rivals have some of the best managers in the world while we are employing Ryan Giggs.

Easily. The best run football club in the world from the knowledge I have. Squad management, signings, youth policy, buying stars, manager recruitment, having ex players within the club. Perfect mix.

Ancelotti is the perfect fit for Bayern. They have no problems really winning the bundesliga and Ancelotti will help them to win a CL.

Looks like we're missing out on Plan A and Plan B, but don't worry because our £137m Neymar bid is set to be lodged if we can just switch the damn fax machine on.

Not convinced he's City's man yet. I'm confident in our ability to entice him but I doubt we would be willing to give Guardiola a contract guaranteeing him as our manager for next season while Pellegrini still has another year on his contract. It's perfectly possible Pellegrini ends the season with a title, possibly a domestic cup too and the team gives a decent account of themselves in Europe, so imagine if he was moved on after all that, even if it was to secure a name as illustrious as Guardiola's.

i really doubt if this has already been decided. We acted really fast to replace Moyes with the best available manager. Plus there are lots of reports which say we contacted pep and many which say pep prefers United over city. But those are trashed as unconvincing

The problem is people here think that actual people who are in charge of the club are less sensible than nobodies like us on redcafe. United are currently one of the biggest sports brand. I doubt any of them would want to do something to reduce it. Nobody on here would have got us a deal with adidas worth £75m per year when we just had a poor season. I think they aren't stupid and they know that pep is better than appointing Giggs and I would be surprised if SAF or LvG will be allowed to nominate their successors.

This is true, which is why I think that even if we don't get pep or carlo we will not go for giggs. As said earlier i doubt the board would be that arrogant twice.

Although a "too big to fail" mentality is dangerous but it's too early to accuse the club of that.

I think that mentality would have been wiped away by the 13/14 season

Will shock you guys. I hope you're right though.

Giggs is blatantly going to be our next manager.
And he will be able to get away with the murder. Finish 6th five times in a row, keep the job sort of safety.

I doubt that very much, Woodward would start to lose out on commercial deals if that happened.

For the past couple of weeks, it has begun to dawn on me that we are likely to do an Arsenal or even worse a Liverpool. My confidence in the club has disappeared.

Bloody hell, Guardiola and Ancelotti in no particular order are my top 2 choices to replace LVG :(

1. Why is Ogden writing for the Independent? Is this where he takes his venting pieces after having spent too many hours on RedCafé again?

2. Why would Ogden know anything about the thoughts and actions of the Bayern board?

1. Ogden left the Telegraph for a new job with the Indy. James Ducker replaced him I think.

2. No idea!

It's fascinating how the English media created another clickbait article for United fans by using the situation at Bayern. It's really interesting to read how he turns the topic into a discussion about United's problems towards the end.
abendzeitung reports Marca started reporting Peps dparture due to "irreconcileable differences between the clubs ethos and Peps football philosophy" which sounds like a load of bollocks to me.

English journalist has info about Italian manager replacing Spanish manager at a German club. Sounds legit.

Guardiola hates committing to things ahead of time. Their activity helps them play it safe, but they might have been able to keep him if they gave him more time.
Well he's apparently signed a pre-contract with City.

I don't. You guys don't believe the club can be that stupid. I disagree, I think they can be that stupid.

It's not a stretch to expect the directors of the club take the best decision for the club and if we can see that's pep, I would expect they do too. If you expect the club to take stupid decisions, then either the club should have a lot of bad decisions or you should have some information that nobody has.

Other than letting Ferguson choose his successor, I don't think the board has really made that many mistakes to expect them to take stupid mistakes especially in an important decision like this

Any other reliable outlets reporting this or is it just Ogden? Hard to believe he could have got the scoop ahead of the likes of Bild (or is it SportBild which is well-informed?) etc.

You might be right. Under no circumstance should Giggs get the job. However, I'm thinking it could be inevitable because the club at no point until recently, considered the notion that LVG will fail. So they have been slow to react to the changing managerial situation at various clubs.

German newspapers, have been reporting for weeks that Bayern have been looking at Ancelotti in case Pep goes. What makes me think this might be true is that Ogden had an exclusive one on one interview with Ancelotti last week.

Isn't Ogden close to United or has that changed these days? If he is still well linked within the club that might be where he got his information from. For example if United tried to go for Pep or Ancelotti and received negative responses.

And yeh, Ancelotti just dropped in that he would be taking over Pep in the summer.

Because that's exactly what Pep and Bayern needed. Well done Ogden, bravo.

I'm not saying anything definitively. I'm just saying it is possible Ogden has contacts in Ancelotti's camp. It's not exactly easy to get a one on one interview with someone famous.

Bayern are just so active. They really don't waste time.
Bayern would have been naive idiots if they hadn't prepared for the situation. They do what you have to do as a successful enterprise.

If we don't get Guardiola, we're incompetent and the board should get the sack, along with Van Gaal.
If your board doesn't make an effort to get him, I could understand but if they do and Pep doesn't accept, that's very harsh. I'm with @Scarecrow: Pep has his own thoughts and desires. It's absolutely possible that there's nothing your board could do to bring him to OT.

Personally I'm convinced this is bullshit but we'll see. Ancelotti said this only a couple of weeks ago:

Ancelotti: "Bayern Munich will win the Bundesliga with their hands still in their pockets. I must admit I don’t enjoy Bayern’s games, as there’s so little competition."

During Moyes tenure, he seemed to be pretty well informed if I remember correctly. Ever since LVG took over, he hasn't particularly been great, although I can't particularly think of a journalist who seems to be in the know regarding United right now. Apart from a couple of briefings here and there, the media largely seems to be in the dark under the current regime - which is great if you ask me.

The problem with feckers like these is that there are no consequences when their stories turn out to be false so they just keep making them up. If they happen to guess right, they will let you know about it forever.

Which is all the more reason he'd be interested. Easy honours :p

It would give him even more time to focus on winning the Champions League. :D
