Carlo Ancelotti to Bayern for 16/17 | Confirmed

Real shame this, he does seem to like taking over clubs at the peak of their power though so we were probably never in the running.

Why doesn't Ancelotti want a challenge? Fecking hell, anybody could manage Bayern Munich and be successful. Am I doing it right?

On the serious side, United's next manager will be Jose Mourinho. Mourinho vs Guardiola in the Premier League at the Manchester clubs will be a tantalising prospect.

We absolutely need to get Pep now. Ed should be relieved of football related duties if he fails to secure Pep or some other top candidate.

Ancelotti at Bayern, if Pep goes to City then I'd take Mourinho (unless Simeone wants to come to England).

Chelsea appear to be sniffing round Simeone. Could you imagine those managers at those clubs and we have Giggs?
I'd prefer not to. I just can't see the club being so inept as to trust Giggs -- who may well turn out to be a great manager, just not right now -- with continuing the rebuilding job started by LvG. It has to be either Pep or Simeone with Klopp at Liverpool. And we should be making these enquiries now.

City get Guardiola, Bayern get Ancelotti, we get...? Don't tell me Mourinho. The man simply refuses to use young players and leaves clubs in a total mess. Giggs also will be such an underwhelming appointment and could be a disaster.
Think we'll be left in a situation where we are scraping the barrel for our next manager again.

Personally I think unless we miss out on the top 4 LVG will still be our manager next regardless of who's available. It also look likes after LVG it's going to be Giggs which would be mental but can't lie I would fecking love it.

As for Mourinho and United he has to be a no go(It's bizarre why some are so desperate for him)well hopefully anyway.

Löw's record as club coach is ridiculously bad. Or let's say, thoroughly unimpressive, and therefore ridiculously bad for supposed top coach.
He was chosen as Klinsi's assistant based on.. errm.. ethnicity most of all, just like Schneider was now chosen as Löw's assistant based on ethnicity.

I know it's strange for people to understand why Löw is rated so little by many German football fans, after what the NT achieved under him.

I can't fully explain myself either, but I have an irrational dislike of Löw bordering on hate. Maybe I'm a racist :nervous:

Can you explain?

I hate how if we'd been able to get LVG after Fergie, we'd never have suffered Moyes and LVG's 3 years would be finishing up with all these managers available

Can you explain?
It's a joke. They are all Swabians, or in the case of Schneider effectively Swabian. Basically a Swabian cabal running our NT.

A joke with a true core though, as I can't shake the feeling Löw's world revolves around Stuttgart, Hoffenheim and Freiburg.

EDIT: factcheck.org. has contacted me to point out Löw is not in fact a Swabian but rather from Baden. I regret making this error and would like to extend my sincerest apologies to everyone involved

You've got to admire Bayern Munich, not only are they a genuinely top, self-built club with an amazing fan base, but they are being run tremendously - they are facing the prospect of losing the best manager in the world, so they go out and (apparently) secure the next best in Ancelotti before even the half-way point of the season. That's pretty damn impressive and decisive work I would say.

This only adds further fuel to the Pep to City fire for next season then, which is highly disappointing but not at all surprising. Has Pep ever managed against a LVG team?

Such an efficiently run club, envy the bastards.

Klopp at pool, Pep at City, Simeone at Chelsea perhaps?

Ancelotti pretty much already at Bayern too, means we need to get Jose sewn up. He's not gonna hang around forever, i'm sorry to say it looks like Van Gaal will be bumped off for Mou in the coming days.

They should have appointed Pep Clotet Ruiz cos he's Spanish and 'cut from the same cloth' and stuff.

Bayern are everything that we are not.

We deserve whatever shit we get ourselves into for not making any real effort for Pep

We're kind of getting the shit we deserve for hiring Moyes in the first place tbh.

Pep going to City and Klopp going to Pool just completes this whole, sorry, horrible mess.

I suppose if we hire Jose it will really have gone full circle and we;ll be back to where we should have been in 2013.

Maybe Bayern have had enough of winning the league and want to win the CL again ;)

It would look like us and Chelsea are in the shit. Chelsea possibly more so given Jose obviously isn't an option for them. Simeone doesn't speak a word of English and it's widely deemed he wants to remain at Atletico isn't it? If correct who the heck do Chelsea go for?

Munich is North-Italy.
3 hours and you are in Italy...

Is it? I didn't know that. :D

Seriously, though. The language is a huge barrier and makes or breaks any foreign manager to succeed in Munich. Guardiola did good, so now we finally know how much German you need to not fail.

Ancellotti to Bayern confirmed
Bild reports that it's a done deal and that Rummenigge confirmed a 3 year contract until 2019.

I thought sometimes it would have been better if Pep would have done his press conferences in English - the German press understands it probably better than his German. The team is not a problem either - he has all languages for them available.

But yes, if you live in a country and if you work there you should learn the language. But I do not think today it is really a big problem anymore.

And an Ancelotti that already speaks a lot of languages should have a lot less problems than Trapp... But if you look e.g. at Alonso - he has learned German very fast even if he speaks very slow to not make any grammatical mistakes. (you remark that his German teacher is a grammar school teacher...)

Good work by Bayern, given Guardiola wanted to leave. Not a huge fan of Ancelotti if I'm honest but he's probably well suited to Bayern given that the Champions League is his forte.

Think this makes perfect sense, if we go by cliches surrounding Ancelotti then he's a great cup manager and mediocre in the league. Since Bayern are an absolute dominator of BL, he'll be able to work his magic in CL.

And make the Bundesliga more competitive. Clearly it's a win win for everyone.

I still think it's a bit sad that Guardiola didn't stay at least one more year and finished the transition from the old guard to the new team. I would have loved to see a team without Robben, Ribery, Schweinsteiger and Lahm excel under him and he's damn close to having that. Hopefully he leaves with a big bang (a postitive one) this season.

Rafa?

Seems like a good move for all involved. I really like Carlo.

He has less distance to his birth town than assistant coach Hermann Gerland or Rummenigge... ;)
