I know it's a bit off topic but is the front page of a newspaper in 2015 really about elected officials having an affair? How is it of any relevance to the public interest what our representatives choose to do with their own genitals in their own free time? Christ.

Is somebody's character relevant to why you may vote for them? - If somebody would cheat on their wife / husband would they keep their election promises to the electorate - its probably not something I would take too seriousley into account but I think its fair enough to say it is probably of interest to some... also the press complaints definition of something being "in the public interest" includes serious impropriety - I imagine mr Jenkyns and Mrs Lopresti feel serious impropriety is an apt description.
 
It's a little bit ridiculous though, we already have PMQ's and no one really gives a shit. An annual version might get more viewers with some promotion, but why not just promote PMQ's?
 



If quantity is truth, the number of articles speculating upon such an eventuality bode ill for Been's future job security. The last time i heard Thornberry speak, which was during a BBC debate shortly after Corbyn's election to leader, there didn't appear to be much present in the way of substance or originality.
 
Replacing Benn would be a risky move unless he shifts him to another high-ranking post, the issue is whether Benn would accept it or simply escape to the backbenches in defiance.

I'm not sure it's that risky as the PLP will kick up a fuss periodically with or without much ammunition. It'd be a mistake if he allowed the pressure to dissuade him for doing what every leader does and put key figures in positions that align to the party's vision.

I think he would probably reject anything he viewed as a demotion... So unless he is made chancellor (very unlikely but in truth probably more helpful from a voter perspective than chairman mcdonnell) Then I assume he will move to the backbenches and start building a bit of a following for the inevitable leadership challenge

Corbyn has commenced his reshuffle:

Barry Gardiner is the latest MP to head to Jeremy Corbyn's office.

He is currently Shadow Minister for Energy and Climate Change.

There is some speculation that he could become the next Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment and Climate Change if Lisa Nandy moves from that position to Shadow Defence Secretary in order to replace pro-Trident Maria Eagle.

Harry Cole, The Sun's Westminster Correspondent, reports that Mr Gardiner "doesn't deny he's been promoted" and that left Mr Corbyn's office with a "smile on his face"

What are the odds that nothing happens to Benn but this will be painted as a climb-down by a "Senior Labour Figure" even though Corbyn hasn't actually said he's going to do anything?

Straight talking politics? This the same politician who called the idea of a Palestinian state 'catastrophic' because he didn't want to upset his Israeli friends. Yeah good riddance. Considering his twitter bio its evident he doesn't have the maturity for a shadow cabinet post either.

Judging by his bio, he's going for the 'man of the people' angle; must be hard to disguise yourself as a man of the people when you boost your wife's pay from £19,999 to £34,999 at tax-payers' expense...

He's an officer of the Labour friends of Israel who pretty much begged the party to allow him to abstain from the vote. I'd guess that might have had something to do with his apprehensions.
