Official: Pellegrini to leave/ Pep to join Man City

Looking forward to Louis going up against him next year. Hopefully we can lead the charge for 4th.

It was obviously going to happen, it was just a matter of when. But seeing two of the best managers around at both Liverpool and City puts enormous pressure on United to make a decision on Van Gaal and appoint the right successor.

I'm not fan of Mourinho, but he's there, he's currently unemployed and he reportedly wants the job. He needs to be appointed before the end of the season.

I think getting Pellegrini would not be a bad idea at all at this point.

That penny pincher Woodward should go and take the dutch clown with him.

He was never going to come here. We are far beyond his comfort zone.

This is not going to enjoyable at all. They've got the better team, as much money as us, and now twice the manager we have. I just hope he doesn't deliver the CL there, but I see 2 or 3 league titles.

I'm at a loss as to what positive thing there is about this club atm, fergie and gill leaving has completely destroyed us.

People laughed when I suggested

*drones on forever* See? City's unearned wealth has the potential to totally alter the future history of the top-level English game. Without that money (for Pep's salary, for massive transfer-spending etc), Guardiola - commonly regarded as the world's best manager - wouldn't be going there. Utterly unfair to us and other clubs.

They're the same bloody thing  just slightly different in that head coaches usually coach as well as manage, like Mourinho or Pep. Fergie was always down as a manager because you wouldn't see him running around taking a training session.
Not really but I don't want to derail the thread with off topic given the amount of DoF / what's wrong with the board / club threads. :)

Came on here to see the meltdown:angel:
The news has ruined my lunch:D

Feck it - can't wait for him to fail:D

Just shows that our club is being run by complete clowns and are/were more interested in 'tradition' and the 'United way'. There's no reason why we shouldn't be the club announcing the best coach on the planet being set to join, instead we're stuck with Van Gaal.

Our timing of every important decision has been completely fecked since Fergie hand-picked his fellow Scot mate.

If we don't get Mourinho tied up as soon as possible for next season then we can forget about winning anything any time soon. We need to reach some sort of settlement with Van Gaal, sack him, shoot him - do whatever it takes to get Mourinho on board.

I never thought I'd see United decline in this manor, whilst City make gigantic strides forward. Makes me physically sick.

We were like a fine tuned athlete at the height of his career, and he has let himself go so badly its tragic, we are the obese stage. This club has been like the classic case of captain smith in charge of the titanic, no matter how many ice warnings with the icefield coming our direction, this club has smug has they are and still are kept thinking this ship will never sink, and we very much have hit that iceberg taking on water, it is a farce how badly these clowns are running this club. Did this club even try to contact pep about managing united, no we let him go to a small club with allot of money. We are basically relying on a manager failed at every level at this club coming into his 70's, and where is the plan in place to find someone else?

I'm not sure why this would suddenly change Woodwards tune. The writing has been in the wall for months and months that Pep was joining City. Our club is a fecking mess.

if we feck up trying to get Jose, the club wants stripping from the top!

We will become the Liverpool of the 90s if we fail to get him

I don't think it's gonna to be a smooth ride for pep in the premier league, this will be his biggest challenge in management yet imo.

But you have to wonder about our club though, for the second time in few years we're watching all the world class managers join other clubs without having a proper plan for the future, unless that plan is giggs, which would confirm my suspicion that the club is run by morons.

Well there goes the only decent (if unlikely) excuse for our total inertia over the past 2 months.

Well, I never had any doubts about that one.

Bring in Jose. He will burn every second to beat his old rival Pep... and win us at least the second place in the league.

Yep. And now that Pep will be at City he'd be even more motivated.

This was coming from the day we hired Moyes. The biggest cnut in this scenario (from our POV's) was the hope we may have corrected our obvious mistake in time.

We didn't then. We haven't now. We won't have done in 5 years time either.

You know those 2 and a half years we've spent readjusting since fergie left? Say hello to 5 more years of it.

Make no mistake, it's absolutely crucial that we get this summer right in terms of manager and recruitment of players. If we balls this up, we'll find ourselves in City's shadow for the foreseeable future and on the same path Liverpool took after their years of success.

Good move for City, very good move. But then again, let's see if they will totally dominate.

I can see us go for Pochettino or Simeone now
i don't think they can dominate. Chelsea will spend and come back big time, as we will too. Plus then there's Arsenal / Spurs / Liverpool all to throw into the equation. Our league is simply too strong these days for one team to dominate like we did in the 90s / 00s
