Official: Pellegrini to leave/ Pep to join Man City

Yes but do you give a feck about City really? Id rather listen to one person talking about a solution than a million wankers all crying because some other club got a new manager. Who gives a feck. It doesnt change where we are. This is a man utd forum and everyone is crying into their cornflakes because the crush they had turned out to want someone else. Boohoo

Seeing as they are big rivals not just in terms of local rivalry but for every major competition we enter, yes I do. Them hiring Pep is the worst possible news for us, he is going to take them to the next level whilst we are stuck with a dinosaur and a board determine to give the job to a former player with no real managerial experience.

I'm hopeful this move will finally shut up the "Pep is overrated" camp. Since they're mostly PL fans, they'll see how different City will be than before. I'm not even talking about silverware.

Me said:
Pep will go to PSG United Hollywood City.

Behold! I was the only person in the universe to predict this, way back in 2002.

Timing of this is very interesting though. Why do it on the last day of the transfer window ?

I'd even wager Txiki already has a shopping list. City will see a dramatic makeover of their squad

I think Sterling and De Bruyne were both bought for Pep and so the shopping is well under way

City did well to get him, seems to have taken a fair bit of long term planning.

From a purely footballing perspective, it would definitely have been fascinating to see what he could have done with us. However, if Mourinho wants us as much as being reported, would be nice to have someone who has reverence for the club, in addition to a killer CV, rather than solely the latter. Really hope we go all out to get him.

Do you follow any team in Ireland stubbsie?

Option 1: to annoy me.
Option 2: to sneak-in last minute transfers, given the allure of the incoming Pep.
Option 3: to wind-up our fans, so that OT is a smelly cauldron of seething discontent tomoz.
Option 4: because they're classless berks who don't care about humiliating nice guy Pellegrini.

What the feck :(

I've been defending the club management but if we don't have Jose lined up now then I'm very concerned indeed.

You'd have to be a bit dim to not realise this was happening several months ago.
Doesn't change anything.

Neither of them seem like Pep like players. Those were probably DoF signings.

Pep is on record openly admiring both players.

This appointment has been planned from a long way back. City would not be spending £100m on 2 players that the next manager didn't want.

Really ? I only remember rumours of sterling being linked with Bayern. And something about KdB's performance in some game.

Yeah guys, I'm not even bitter but I must admit that I'm a tad disappointed in Pep. For all his talk about romanticism and football clubs, steeped in history - intrigues him, he sure as hell just sort of proved the opposite by going to oil money. The easier choice, not to blemish his near perfect record.

Pretty much my thoughts. All these people saying it will show folk who doubted Guardiola, how is joining the club on top at the moment with the most money, best squad(According to caf) and easiest route of success going to put any of his doubters right?

De Bruyne was heavily linked with Bayern
Links are fine. We are linked with half the world. Doesn't mean squat. Did he actually say on record that he admires Sterling and KdB ? If he said it about KdB, it's understandable, but sterling is crap, way too overrated.

Fully expected it but still a tough blow to take in now it's official.

I really worry for this club now, Especially when we don't appoint Jose as next manager.

If we lose tomorrow I could see a real nasty atmosphere at OT

I honestly expect a few songs about Mourinho to be sung.

Not the biggest fan of Pep, but this move proves that our club is run on a small club mentality. What happened to all the rumors about Pep "dreaming" about managing United. Heck, where are all the top players who claim to be United fans and want to play for United. Bayern had no problem lining up a top replacement, City had no issues getting Pep, but we have Woody smiling and winking after a win at fecking Derby County. Great job Woody on hanging onto LvG, because we want to be different to other clubs. We will not sack our manager until he has run the club into the ground. We might have the resources, but we are basically a small club now (or run like one)

You're blaming club for the rumours?

It's on record that de Bruyne agreed to join Bayern this season but Bayern would not pay what Wolfsburg wanted, hence why City got him. It's hard to imagine Bayern tried signing a player Guardiola did not want.

Take a deep breath fellas. Jesus Christ. Reading this thread you would think that City have already won a couple of trebles under Pep and we are in a relegation battle.

Two years at Bayern, a team with a ridiculously good squad and he is yet to win the CL. As for the PL, City are contenders every year, whether they have Pep or not.

Giggs hasn't took over yet.

Champ Manager in cheat mode.
I thought he was better. More respect for Klopp today.

I think City did well to get him tbf, if Utd really did talk to him then Woodward need to get his arse kick..oh well Utd run by mediocre management what do we expect... Lvg to continue until his term ends then :mad::mad:

Feel a bit sorry for Pellegrini but Guardiola is a clear upgrade on the Chilean. I'll have a soft spot for Manchester City while he's there and i hope he does well there.

Yeah, Pellegrini is like that kind Grandpa you loved to visit as a child.

Sterling, Hart, Kun, KDB, Otamendi, Silva & Iheanacho are all probably safe but after that no one is safe. All those years of hearing about youth players at City will likely begin to bear some fruit under Pep as well, I suppose he'll quickly assess which ones will train & prepare for the 1st team. Probably means there won't be a City preseason tour either

You forgot Kompany. But why will he decide to give pre-season a miss if he wants to evaluate his youth players. Aren't matches, even friendlies, the best way to judge players ?
