Louis' presser 16.3 "well done son"

First time I've switched off one of his press conferences half way through. Can't be arsed listening to him anymore - just answer the fecking questions you're asked, say you got it wrong and tell us what you're doing to fix it.

I'm sick to the back teeth of listening to him say "you can't say it is like this" with that self righteous tone, as though everyone else is the idiot and he isn't the one putting out a team who look and play like shit.

The same guy who said Fellaini was the best player on the pitch against Liverpool...

I've never heard a manager talk as much shit as Van Gaal... he makes Rodgers sound good

Pointless to listen to the guy - starting to think he has been sent to troll us

I think Louis lacks judgment when it comes to public utterances...or he just doesn't care about other people's reactions to them. I mean, does he not realise how flawed this comparison appears?:

“We don’t think about conceding a goal,” Van Gaal said. “We think about making goals. We have done that against Midtjylland [scoring five], the last opponent before Liverpool.”

so the gameplan is to win 2-0 in 90 minutes, then the third in extra time. didnt realise Liverpool wont be scoring then

I don't know why LvG keeps on going about scoring only 2 goals in normal time and then taking it to extra time to score one more. It's a stupid idea to go in to a game with that mentality.

I know for sure that Liverpool will score one maybe even two. We won't score more than one. That's because the great Fellaini will make an appearance. Going to be a long night.

"Can you score 4 goals if Liverpool score, Louis?"

"Yes, we have already done that this season, against Midtjylland."

:wenger: :(

I got to 2 mins 15 seconds. My brain switched off when he started wittering on about the challenge for tomorrow 'starting with the fans'. Yawn.

Don't think I made it that far. I got distracted with being angry after 30 seconds. It was probably still playing for another 30 while I frowned about the place looking like a less hairy, less elbowy Marouane Fellaini.

There was a presser?

I am watching the full presser.
He is aiming for 2-0, across 90 minutes.
Basically, he does not want to concede any goals.
I can't help but feel we are going to be 0-0 at half time (the most common score at OT, at 45 minutes).

This is precisely why he winds me up so fecking much. Why aim to only tie the match in 90 minutes?

I found that part quite worrying, like he refuses to consider the possibility of Liverpool scoring. Despite the fact there is every chance they will. If they do, presumably we will completely crumble seeing as it is not part of our plan.

Seems like people are attacking LVG just for the sake of it, so I thought I'd chime in:

Amazing how much he's milking the victory against Midget Land, I'm surprised he's not sucked the teat dry from our victory against the Shrewsbury titans as well. Guess he's saving that for the West Ham replay press conference as ammunition.

I can't remember, is the away goals rule still valid in extra time?

Is there any reason we can't go into the match to win by as big a scoreline possible regardless of what Liverpool does?

I watched this presser in disbelief tbh. I don't care if it's Barcelona that you're playing, you go into a game like this saying that you believe you can win and that you have the players capable of doing so.

With all due respect to Liverpool, we're nowhere even close to the standard of Barca but it sounds like LVG is beaten already. Klopp must be rubbing his hands with joy at that and I know we have a Midget Land style performance to be *ahem* wary of from you but you want your manager making the players believe they could beat anyone by any score.

We played Ajax under Shankly and lost 5-0 away I believe it was. Shanks had Anfield full for the 2nd leg as he'd managed to convince every man and his dog that we could win the game. We didn't but what harm is there is getting tat winning mentality across to the fans and players?

You do wonder what he says to players in team meetings.

If they say, "boss, what happens if they score a goal, then we have to score 4. How can we score 4 goals, when we are being set up to play defensively?"
He'll reply with some garbage answer.
I think this is why when we concede a goal, our style of play does not change. It is maintained and then we end up losing tamely.
Normally, if you go 1-0 down and you are in the final 10 minutes, a team has nothing to lose by playing all out attack. But with LVG, the tactic remains unchanged and then we as fans complain that there is no urgency or passion, even though we are 1-0 down, with 10 minutes to play.

We need to get Warren Joyce in, as soon as possible, followed by Mourinho in the Summer.

He is not beaten. In fact, he is saying that we can get a 2-0 scoreline by the end of 90 minutes. So I'd say he is being overly optimistic.
In reality though, I just don't see us being able to score 2 goals in 90 minutes, without conceding. Its possible, but I don't see it.

Looks like he read the Bryan Robson interview....
