I don't normally watch them.

I hope his talks to the players are nothing like he talks to the press. If so, that's why we're doomed, right there. Does he show any fire or fight because it's our arch enemy Liverpool, it seems not. It just seems to be up to the players. The boss should be firing them up, motivating them. Knowing what motivates each player and the group as a whole.

Is is mad man persona just for the press?

No wonder we're disjointed, un-motivated and indirect. He is.
 
Managed to watch it all the way through … anyone that didn't should as the training session is quite an eye-opener and a very nice distraction to the first part of the clip where LvG is being his usual brash, feck-I-want-to-punch-you-in-the-face, self.

It was a great surprise to see Youngy back in training and I must admit that I didn't really understand when LvG said he's still 2 months away as he wasn't holding back in the short sprints or even the non-contact training games (which always seems to be full contact whenever Blind is the one with the blue flag playing "piggy in the middle").

There seems to also be more yoga-type stretching in the warm-ups than (the admittedly small amount of training clips) I've seen in the last year or so too which might be down to Giggs chipping in with some of his experience to negate the spate of recent muscle injuries.

Around half way through the presser though, it gets interesting when some hack asks LvG about the players passion being missing one week ago at Anfield and Ander cuts the guy off brutally and puts him right … that's what I want to hear (don't care if what he's saying is true or not) not all these pathetic deflections and excuses!

Louie gave up after that (thank feck) and it was the Ander Herrera show until the end … no wonder he got a "well done son" as he dug the sad pathetic shadow of an egotistical Dutch coach right out!

Could only have been a better sign off if LvG had appeared out of the middle of a load of cartoon red rings to the Looney Tunes theme waving his P45 saying "that's all folks"!

Bring 'em on!

Even I was confused. From his talk after that I think he meant Young was coming back from a 2 month away injury and hence was not the same as CBJ's 3 week injury and so the recovery times etc., will be different.
 
I think we have every right to approach the game cautiously knowing we will have to win by 4 if we concede.

The problem is, we are absolutely bollocks are playing cautiously. We will barely get a sniff at goal and probably concede something ridiculous.

In fact, since we are likely to go out any way, I think i'd much rather we concede early on so we can spend 90 minutes just going for it.

While we've all aged 20 years because of pan face, I can't stand him or his bs, as someone else said he talks down to everyone like he's a genius and everyone else is wrong about what we're seeing.
I'm not going to watch the presser it'll only wind me up!

We have to just go for it - If they score then we know we simply have to score more!

Let them have to keep knocking us off the ball, if we're travelling at any sort of speed this embarrassing card-happy excuse for an international ref will be sending off 'pool players left right and centre!

Just watched the presser in full. Tbf Van Gaal wasn't that bad...it certainly wasn't his worst. I'm not going to defend him but I think what he was trying to say was that the very least they need to do is win 2-0 then they still have a chance of winning it in extra time. I can't see how any manager would set his team up to win by 2 goals when they really need to win by 3.

Ander Herrera was pure quality. I think van Gaal was surprisingly impressed by his performance. That's how you answer questions in a press conference.
 
Tbh he does well in press conferences but its a shame he cant translate that onto the pitch.

People try to pick apart whatever he says but he plays it very safe every time. Moyes on the other hand was horrendous and made massive gaffes with the media, LVG is awful but he says the right things considering how shite weve been.
 
Actually I think we'll win. De gea will be godly again and I also predict a shocking referreeing performance in our favour. Fellaini will start and he'll play well but will not get sent off. The Son of Hender will see red!
 
I watched it all because I wanted to watch the training session. I watched them play piggy in the middle with one touch passing and it made me wonder why not restrict the players to use two touches. Why? Because it's obvious LvG wants players to use two or more touches in the first two phases of attack because he is afraid we might lose the ball. When you watch the next match just note that the only time a player uses one touch when building from the back is 1) when he is passing straight back to the passer, 2) because it's a simple pass or 3) because it's the only choice. Otherwise, players, especially Schnieder, Carrick, Schwein, and Herrera, use two or more touches.

It stems from no movement by players, i.e. no option for the player with the ball.

To encourage a culture of movement coaches often penalize players who do not have the ball when the player with the ball has the ball for a specific period. If you want pass and move you need options, if there are no options the issue is the players off the ball, not the player with it.
 
Is it just me, or does Ander have a better command of the English language than LVG?

Next season when/if we get a new manager, I don't want to here the phrase "it's not so easy"! Feckin irritates me no end.

Vangle's Reign of Error has even taken its toll on the man himself. He's gone from looking like a knackered David Bowie to Hitler in Downfall, only with less prospect of winning.

No doubt that is part of it. However, I find myself thinking so often why did so and so use 2 touches when he could have just used one. Carrick and Schneiderein, IMO, so often use two touches when all they do is control a back pass, look, and then pass to the side usually to a wing defender. This is one reason our play too slow and I can just imagine that is what LvG wants. In contrast, I watched Barca vs Arsenal and there was so much confident one-touch passing by defenders and midfielders.
