Pot noodle out of a gold bucket?

Good job they printed a photo of a cake for those of us outside London who don't know what one is.

The Conservatives are currently veering from scandal to scandal. Hopefully the BBC relish compromising Whittingdale.

Not even the right cake. Article says Lemon Drizzle, picture clearly shows Victoria Sponge. Is there no end to media dishonesty?

Married man Corbyn linked with Victoria Sponge

I don't know why I follow PMQS, it does me no good at all.

Cameron gets asked why Tory MEPs voted against EU country by country tax reporting and he comes back only with a quip about Corbyn's late tax return.

I think they need to reformat it completely and make it closer to a tribunal so the prime minister can't just divert from questions asked or provide stock answer of well you didn't do anything either

Seriously, that's how he answered it?? Doesn't he realise the whole country now realises he's a gobshite?

Apparently he's only got to please the leering, jeering cretins around him; the rest of us can go to f*ck, it seems.

Sound bite answers for today's attention span-free electorate. Would arguably be better in a longer format.

I do hope that you are not referring to this Whittingdale nonsense? Such a relationship is no basis for a story, nor should Whittingdale be apologising for it.

Were he a supporter of End Demand and the Swedish Model, or publicly pursued discriminator policies, those could be reasons to criticise him for his hypocrisy however.

^ I once made £15 after taking part in a focus group on breakfast cereals, which was a nice bonus for a kid. Nor that Frosties or Ricicles would be the desired winner these days, too much sugar don't you know.

That's not the story though is it. It's the fact the papers buried a story they would normally relish publishing, either because it gave them leverage over him or more realistically because they knew he was on their side and had no interest in pursuing a story against him

If Whittingdale knew they held the story and it influenced his decision making he should be sacked/resign immediately.

More likely he was protected because the press knew he was on their side: Papers independently killed the story because they didn't want to risk their guy being replaced with someone who would pursue Leveson more thoroughly.

The latter is plausible but then it's also completely speculation. It's simply unfair to call for his resignation unless evidence is found of wrongdoing.

I think we'd all agree it's a nothing story. A completely fabricated uproar based on what ifs.

Agree with that.

Though I'm pretty sure there are jokes to be made surrounding what the chief whip makes of it all.

They didn't publish it because it wasn't much of a story. Except for the gossip mongers of course. There still isn't a story so folk are making up conspiracy theories to try and add interest. Each to our own I suppose.

DWP 'punishing' low-paid full-time workers under new benefits rule

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/news...s-rule/ar-BBrKsna?li=BBoPMmp&ocid=mailsignout
Helen Smith, 36, of Widnes, who says she regularly works 30-40 hours a week as a bar worker on a zero-hours contract, said that when she appealed against the fine she was told by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that being on holiday was not a valid reason not to look for work. Smith, who says she has been in almost continuous employment since she left school, said: “Because I was working I just didn’t understand why I was sanctioned.”
If it wasn't so sad for the people concerned it would be farcical. Only the DWP/government could rationalise their behaviour with that sort of logic.

There is more to it, I posted this in the jeremy corbyn thread, but this is a write up from one of the journalists who was told not to run the story, and why its much more important than some idiots sex life.

Had a quick glance at that and maybe you're right. I suppose it was too much to hope that the papers had finally seen sense and stopped filling their sheets with salacious gossip, some of which is most nauseating, even for those of us with only a basic level of imagination. God only know what it must be like for those with highly developed imaginations.

I expect Cameron to stand down immediately after the referendum result, even it's Remain. It will settle the issue for the Tories, but too many won't forgive him for it.

So there will be two things happening at the same time, on the surface an argument about the EU, yet at the same time furious jockeying for position as the next prime minister. If Corbyn can't take advantage one way or another he should feck off as well.

It's pathetic. Every single one of them in that place is an immature arsehole that wouldn't look out of place in a primary school playground.

Red Ken is in trouble over his Anti Semitism isn't racism comments.
