Europa League 2015/2016

Sevilla would do the dippers anyway, though it would be good if they went out in the semis.

It could very well be two European finals with two Spanish clubs against each other in both. They seem to have found the holy grail.

Mcmanamammana is gutted. Trying to be bullish but he's even forgetting to over exaggerate his scouse accent he's that pissed off.

He gets a lot of grief, but genuine question, is he actually that hardcore a Liverpool man? Yeah he played for them for years, but was actually an Everton fan.

Not to mention how he did completely screw them over when he spun them on all season then buggered off to Real on a freebie, costing them millions! Doesn't strike me as Top Pool man behaviour!

Villarreal won't fall apart like Dortmund did when they shit their pants. A stingy defence that's only bettered by Barca and Atletico in Spain, and nothing in their Europa form to suggest it will happen.

This trophy is absolutely going back to Spain.

Would it be too greedy to ask that we win our FA Cup final, City lose in the semis, and also Liverpool do?

While also sneaking in top 4?!

Just a little greedy?

Tbf when Moreno went through I proper thought Suarez had fecked it

Having had him in my fantasy team for about 30 weeks, where he contributed about 1 assist, I wasn't too worried about him scoring.
Did think he might keep it in the stadium though !

Was really impressed by Villareal tonight. They have a couple of very good players.

Good result for us too, lets hope they dump Liverpool out.

That's the dream. top four a dream : (

So, Owen and McMannananananaman say Villarreal had the better chances and more of the play but, Liverpool were the better team and deserved it?!

Any chance they could NOT have two Liverpool ambassadors next time?

He is coming across as clueless. The bloke even played in La Liga.

I understand he's looking after him with his injury problems, but surely he has to come on after 60mins?
Yeah no doubt. Klopp got it wrong tonight. We'll see if we can turn it around. Villarreal are tough to break down.

Mcmanaman seems to think Villareal are absolute shit and will get hammered at anfield

Don't they have one of the best defences in la Liga

Still expect Liverpool to go through, Vilarreal haven't impressed me.

Klopp is responsible for that game. To bring off Coutinho at half time for whatever reason and not bring on Sturridge or even Benteke was a woeful decision, made only worse by the choice to bring Ibe on. I'm not convinced that we'll qualify, Villareal have an athletico like mean defence and can just counter attack us all night at Anfield. An away goal would have been nice but not meant to be, if we qualify from this position to the final I think we'll go on to win it.

Oh Lord, the Anfield leg is going to be sickening...Y.N.W.A. yadda, yadda, yadda. Remember Milan, Dortmund yadda, yadda, yadda. This is for the 96 etc., etc. Don't think I'll bother.

What's with klopp taking continuous off quite a lot lately? I rate him as your best player and he seems to get subbed or start on the bench an awful lot lately!

They've potentially lost their best CB (Dailly) to a hammo. Its like Dortmund losing Hummels before facing us in the second leg. And they hate playing away.

He's been using him once a week to keep him fresh but he came off today because he was ill apparently. I doubt he'll play against Swansea on Sunday but he has to start the second leg next week with Sturridge if we're to have any chance of progressing.

I assume you meant Coutinho? That's the closest I could link continuous to (bloody auto-correct!)

Bailly would be a big loss. Hope its nothing too serious.

First time I've seen Bailly and I thought he was outstanding. Pace, strength, intelligence. Maybe not Hummels level passing but has everything else. He was clutching and then icing his hamstring. That's usually pretty serious.

I'm not so sure he did get it wrong. The defence, and Ming especially with two superb saves, were actually bloody good yesterday and Villareal were for the most part, easily contained. Villareal are not some bang-average team and most on here favoured them to beat us over two legs so why did they look so average ? Because even with our injury stricken squad we still managed to nullify them and eventually increase our control of the game, which should be put down to Klopp's tactics.

Had Klopp brought on Sturridge at the beginning of the 2nd, when we lost Coutinho at HT due to sickness, and pushed Firmino and Lallana played wide (actually Firmino spent most of the match wide right anyway which greatly contributed to our lack of goal threat) then we may even have gone on to win. Overall we maybe had the better chances (Allen, Firmino, Moreno and Lallana wrongly given offside and what would have been a cert penalty) up until the last 15 mins. All conjecture now though.

We shouldn't forget that naturally Klopp's team selection was based on what team/formation could give us the best result and that missing Can, Origi, Henderson and Sakho (in addition to long term casualties Gomez & Ings) forced his hand somewhat. Playing with Sturridge from the start might have seen us giving up more possession .. but increased our goal threat. That was the choice and his decision almost worked out. I'll never understand why so many of our players were surging forward in the last minute of the game when a very creditable draw was a given had our FBs and Lucas held back.

How on earth did they manage to concede on a counter attack in 91st minute of the away leg when they were drawing? Absolutely poor stuff from Liverpool.

What a pleasant surprise when I got up this morning, I watched the Sevilla-Donetsk game last night and was under the impression the other game had finished 0-0, a good start to the day is what I call that, finding out it was actually 1-0 Villarreal...Not sure which one of the other 2 would be more likely to beat Liverpool if they reached the Final though, but hopefully that won't happen.

You're a tad over-rating Villareal. They are in a good position in Spain but they are still the 4th best team in a 3 team league. They had no real pace, nor even strength to bother our makeshift backline. Apart from two harmless nutmegs Denis Suarez was ordinary. Markovic ordinary. And they have Soldado as their senior experienced player. We gave them too much respect and paid for it. I would have taken a 2-1 loss as long as we gave it a go.

We still have a decent shot at winning the tie but it isn't because Klopp produced a good first leg.

Put Liverpool in Spanish league and you think they'd be any better than the 4th best team in a 3 team league?
