With Darren Fletcher narrowly 2nd, well done to two academy products and servants of the club.

Unsurprising really, he was still a decent player. Just the standards at this region of the table are so much greater.

Glad for him. Gained a lot of respect from me in his interview about why he left. Top man.

Well done, Evans. Still a good player. No disrespect to West Brom, but when he left, I thought he would have gone to a more ambitious club. Top 6 or 7, maybe.

What's the moral of the story? There's still hope for Phil Duncan Jones?

Evans and Fletcher are both better than Fellaini and Rojo. Plus the £40-50million we spent signing Rojo and Fellaini. Plus Rafael was better than Darmain. Nani is better than Depay. Plus is Mata much better than Kagawa was (debatable). We have made some really poor investments of late and sold Hernandez and Welbeck into the bargain.

Evans was a weird one. Like is said above he's better than Rojo but he let himself down with a truly awful season last year. He couldn't have much complaint about it but on form he was a very good defender.

I do understand that Evans was poor that season but his replacement cost £15m and is worse (much worse)

Evans is better than Rojo, but Rojo was better than him last season. In fact, arguably every player in the league was better than Evans last season.

So it is difficult to blame LvG there.

By all accounts it was between Fletcher and Evans who have been their best players by some distance.

Evans was one of those who really suffered from the managerial instability. He seemed to have everything in his locker to be a success at this level and he was an important cog in 3 title winning sides but there was a fragility about him where he had spells of low confidence that morphed people's opinions on him.

I can accept his sale based on a really poor season but I think that's all it was - a poor season from a good player. Personally I'd never have sold him and for me a form Jonny Evans is better than any left sided centre half we have. At 28 he had plenty more to give too, so I'll always see it as a bit of a shame.

I think he has one move upwards to a bigger club in him.

I doubt Fletcher would have been much worse than Schneiderlin either.

Same here. Lvg destroyed him

Have you completely forgotten how bad Fletcher was in the last few months here? Darren was my favourite United player over the last decade, but those last few appearances were just painful to see.

Some people were even saying he should retire. It was that bad.

And Schneiderlin has been a much better player (hasn't reached Fletcher's top level yet though, but it's just his first season here )

What a season ex-United players have had. This team would have won the league, right?

I really have no idea about Heaton but the rest have had fine seasons. Hell of a front 4. Every Di Maria cross would be dangerous with those 3 attacking them.

Van Persie, Welbeck, Kagawa, Nani, Brady, Cleverley, Rafael, Shawcross, O'Shea and Zieler as squad options providing decent cover everywhere.

Happy for him. His downfall was the constant injuries so it was good for him to get a move away and stay fit. Some players need that. A fit evans would've helped this season (even though I think he wasn't quite good enough for the level we aspire to reach but hey, if he is better then others that we have its not all bad is it?)

Sorry but Schneiderlin has been appalling. Fellaini is ahead of him in the pecking order ffs. Dont argue that Fletch was painfully bad for us last season but I really really doubt he's been worse (for wba) than Schneiderlin this year.

Welbeck's crap though. Martial and Rashford and comfortably better.

Fellaini and Schneiderlin don't even play the same kind of role for United. Morgan is CDM while Van Gaal has used Maroane further forward .

Well done to both of them, both would be probably better options than some players we use as squad players.

Yeah, the likes of Rojo and Jones are much greater.

But he left us when we were 4th and now we're most likely finishing 5-6th, so chances are he would wound up as backup again at any top 6 aspiring club. Midtable seems about right for him, and that's what WBA would be targeting to reach.

Yeah, the likes of Rojo and Jones are much greater.
They were last season though. Which is what most people are arguing.

It was Evans who let himself down. Van Gaal evidently planned for the season with him in the side, infact he was seen as the senior defender after Rio and Vidic's departure. For one reason or the other,Evans never took that chance

Blame Van Gaal for many things(it's a long list) . But I don't think this is one.

Didn't Evans turn out in centre mid in some games? That surprised me

Evans was worse than Rojo laat season though. Jonny had a shocking season last year. Van Gaal has to decide based on that.

Why there is a thing called technology now where he can see Jonny over the last 3 seasons? And no way was Jonny worse than Rojo. Rojo is the worse player I've seen in an united shirt.

Welbeck's crap though. Martial and Rashford and comfortably better.

Welbeck is better than Rashford at this moment in time. Welbeck is also better than Lingard Mata Depay in fact all our front players except Martial imo.

Everyone was terrible in 3 man defence. Once we started playing 2/4 man defence he was fine, nothing worse than others, but it was obviously too late since people, and van Gaal already made a decision.

Agreed. My feeling is he had started to play quite well then got the 8 matches for spitting.

Everyone might have been terrible but he was the worst. At that point selling him was a no brainer.

That's a hilariously good team.

Hopefully both will be binned soon enough. You can't just chuck away every single underperforming player within one summer; Evans was the oldest and as a result had the least time left to prove he could 'come good'. Plus he was as much of a crock as Jones is/was.

Still capable of playing for one in my opinion, I've no doubt he will get a transfer in the next few seasons.
