Randall Flagg
Worst of the best
We need to have experienced players
Would be madness not to give him a new deal

The club aren't selling Bastian after a season. And they will give another season to see if he can get over his injury problems. One of them tends to be injured anyway though. Basti has barely played half a season worth of games with us.
True, he is the only proper forward passing cm we haveWe need to have experienced players

We can't keep both. We need to be more proactive and sign a younger midfielder now.
We don't need all three. Why can't we keep both and sign a young midfielder too?
We don't need all three.
I don't see the need to keep Carrick for a bit part role.
I think that's what the club has decided too.
Players dont need to reach Rio level of bad before we move them on.

Carrick really doesn't have much to offer on the pitch any longer. He's too slow, he can't play deep by himself, and the tactics the last couple of seasons have left him exposed.
Time to move on, for both player and club.

Paul Scholes? Can't see us not renewing with him.. He played every game and no one in the squad can touch him.. But if he leaves he surely deserves a huge send off. Our best midfielder for the last decade.
? I think Carrick just got the upper hand there since 07-08.. But that might just be mePaul Scholes?
Been a great player for us no doubt. Might get a contract, if not, will be remembered.

make him a coach?
Giggs as manager and Carrick as assistant?
Seems like the obvious explanation to me.Shame, such palyer is left with no indication if hes statying or not.
I hope this is beacuase.the club wants.new manager.to make.the call![]()
I didnt say he was. I said that he shouldnt be kept until he reaches that level. Rio should probably have left the season Fergie left too.It was a shame to see how he turned out.Carrick isn't "Rio level of bad". He can still play a key role off the bench and is an influential member of the dressing room.

How do people rate Carrick looking back on his career with us? Very good but not great as a player for me - pretty consistent performer (although he has had his bad patches as well) - I don't see him quite on the level of Rio, Vidic, Ronaldo, Keane, Giggs, Scholes, Cantona, etc though
Then maybe we should compare with the likes of Beckham, Butt, Ole, Rooney, Feltcher. How do people rate Carrick looking back on his career with us? Yes, I'd be comfortable with thatThen maybe we should compare with the likes of Beckham, Butt, Ole, Rooney, Feltcher.

Most people would agree one of the big problems weve had this season is our squad has been exposed as too thin. Obviously this is something we need to resolve by buying more players. But I dont think letting one of our most experienced - and still one of our best - midfielders go at the same time is going to help with that problem. We need to be adding names, not clearing more people out. He will only be used sparingly but when he is called on will be worth his salary. This isnt about setting an example to the kids or inspiration or teaching incoming players what it means to play for United or any of that intangible stuff, its about the fact he is still a quality player.
Carrick has been arguably our best midfielder this season, as he has many seasons. Obviously that is a problem. But the solution to it isnt to get rid of him. Obviously it would be different if Schweinsteiger had more to offer, but he doesnt. I think Schneiderlin will be better next season as well, which will probably mean Carrick is less important, but he is still a good insurance policy to have, Id definitely give him an extension. The lack of CM's hasn't been the issue, we are thin up top and at CB but we have plenty of CM's, the problem is that two of them are too old and immobile with injury issues, and the others aren't good enough.
