Can we all take a moment to appreciate Lloris's positioning for Janmaat's goal?

They won't. The shit league made them look better than they are. 70 points isn't that special. If City, Chelsea and us sort their shit out with too managers, Pool further improving under Klopp and Arsenal finish above them anyway they will be soon back to their 5th and 6th places, just with more competition now with the likes of Leicester, Southampton and West Ham and maybe some others who use the new tv money.
Why won't the Prem's youngest squad improve further next season?
This question is quite apart from the big IF concerning the possible improvement of Chelski, City and United.

It's no given that players always have an upward arch. It wouldn't be a surprise if a few of them struggle to pick themselves up again and find the same form next season. Same goes for our kids.
Sure, it's no given, but it's more likely than not that young players get better with more coaching and more experience.
You were 1 point clear on March 1st. You were 2nd by the time we played our next game. Was more disappointed in 2008 when we blew an 8 point lead in March and in 2014 when we conspired to do something similar. We're still a feckless bunch, and this season was shit as ever. However, this whole argument of best chance ever is flawed at its roots. If you're good enough, you'll win the league regardless.
We're just not there yet, and probably won't be till AW either takes his finger out in some respects, or is replaced with a good manager after his contract expires.
I'm sure it is. I mean, we all know it's going to happen but nobody tells the Spurs lot until it's too late and they're left with egg on their face.![]()
It's more likely that conte pep and possibly mourinho improve their club than Rose Walker Dembele amd all continuing this form in all honesty
Really?
I can think of plenty of players who never improved past 22/23.
Is it?
Spurs have the advantage of a settled squad and way of playing, whilst Chelski, City and United (probably) will enter a period of transition - major squad changes and a new playing style to impose. Two of those 3 clubs will have managers that have no prior experience of the Prem. And how many players will want to leave Chelski rather than play in the EL?
Even without prem experience it is highly unlikely that city Chelsea and us (if mourinho comes) would be like this season. They have the financial capability to buy players and given their talent, the managers have the ability to get the best out of their squad.
Look at Liverpool. That 13-14 season players like Henderson Gerrard and all looked world class but the next season they all struggled. It's naive to say that won't ever happen to Rose and Walker and all. Of course unlike Liverpool you won't lose your world class striker
I don't think so. They were playing some tumescent stuff but with Bale scoring screamers out of nothing. They were playing better under Villas Boas. Very underrated manager.
Isn't he actually available in summer? They were playing better under Villas Boas. Very underrated manager.
I haven't said that. I've said that it's more likely than not that the youngest squad in the Prem will develop and improve further next season. That's especially the case given the squad's settled nature and playing style with managerial continuity.
You say it's "highly unlikely" that United with Mourinho would be like this season. But his arrival will mean yet another summer of significant squad upheaval and trying to adapt to yet another new playing style, not to mention the numerous distractions that his media circus style tends to create. There are limits to what money and a single summer of coaching can achieve.
By the way, you didn't answer my question as to how many Chelski players will want to leave rather than play in the EL.
They were playing better under Villas Boas. Very underrated manager.

St Totteringham's Day is the day when Arsenal fans celebrate the fact that Tottenham can no longer catch Arsenal in the League. It is a movable feast, but usually falls in March, April or May. It is the day to collect on bets made by over-optimistic Spurs fans in the close season who think that "this is the year".
I wonder what finishing behind Arsenal does to the 3 year vs 6 year trend.
They were playing better under Villas Boas. Very underrated manager.
Not much ... United have still finished outside the top 4 twice in the last 3 seasons.
But of course that mustn't ever - under any circumstances - be compared to the previous 3 years. And the idea that it shows any trend of decline must be strongly denied ... if necessary by stamping of feet and screaming loudly to drown out any heretical notions.

See, what I dont get is the attitude of being certain that Spurs will better us again next year. We have the 3rd (?) youngest squad in the Premier League, finishing up in 5th place. This is in a season where its widely recongnised that Spurs have performed well above what was expected of them, as well as a complete disaster of a season for us. I would say it's both very arrogant as well as foolish to claim that the gap of 7/6/4 points that we currently look to finish behind Spurs this season is impossible/improbable to close in 16/17.
Saying that the likes of Rose and Walker will improve is just the same as saying that Shaw will be a whole different world for us on the left as well as the improvement of a dozen underperforming players this season. The Spurs-players have been performing excellent this season, and I doubt you could make a case for anyone of their regulars that they havent been performing way above anything they've done in previous seasons (bar the ridiculous excuse of a footballer in Mason), yet you could argue that anyone in the United-squad (bar De Gea, Smalling, Martial) have been performing at their usual level.
And still an unnamed, slightly deluded Spurs-fan on this forum is making an argument that Spurs will most certainly end up above the declining United once again next season.
But what if I prefer the 10 year trend?

That's why I said improbable as well..I don't think anyone (not me anyhow) is saying it's "impossible" that United will finish above Spurs next season ... I just think it's less than a 50% chance.
You mention a dozen "underperforming" players at United this season, but who are these players and what if for some of them it's simply their natural average level? And who are the Spurs players who are supposedly likely to go down a level next season in performance terms?
You're biased then. Because the bookies has United at lower odds than Spurs to win the league next year. So I guess the bookies think it's less than a 50% chance that Spurs will finish above United.I don't think anyone (not me anyhow) is saying it's "impossible" that United will finish above Spurs next season ...
