Not to sound like a twat but is this not getting a bit hackneyed now, beaming flags onto the London Eye, Brandenburg or wherever? It seems like people focus more on the aesthetics than the meaning. Very Facebook-esque.
I think promoting empathy with the West in the Middle East can be a good thing. It might slowly make those less tolerant come around, although Tev Aviv is already one of the most forward thinking places in the ME I believe. They face a lot of attacks themselves, so to me this was a nice gesture of unity (as well as a big LGBT statement), moreso than London etc doing similar.
