He was poor yesterday and his selfishness annoys me at times but come on, he's still the best striker England have got. Fantastic player.

He's not as good the hype would suggest. Plenty of other strikers would score 20+ playing every minute and taking all penalties for Spurs.
Here we bloody go again.Apparently "senior" england players have urged Roy to drop him in favour of Vardy against Wales.
Pretty much, although tbf we do have four excellent strikers. Here we bloody go again.
If we played a 4-4-2 diamond how its supposed be played and not the interpretation Roy had of it against Portugal, we could be so lethal. Instead of rooney at the tip flanked by Vardy and Kane, ( literally the thought of two up top made roy shit himself so much he made them go wide tracking back rendering them utterly useless) just go with Sturridge and Vardy/Kane up top. Alli/Sterling in the no10.He looked tired after about 30 minutes. We were absolutely certain Roy would take him off around the hour mark, and were amazed that he lasted the 90. Maybe Roy intends to start Vardy in the next game and give Kane a breather? In any case, very poor performance by him, but most Spurs players were disappointing so I'm wondering whether they're not all gassed after their tiring season.
Really?? Well for what it's worth, both Walker and Dier were named man of the match by different factions and Rose certainly wasn't disappointing. Alli was a bit below par but not excessively so. Kane was well below par but one from five isn't "most", or at least it wasn't when I went to school. He looked tired after about 30 minutes. Yeah Rose was good. But Kane and Alli were very disappointing, and I thought Walker had a few very bad moments - not quite as disappointing as the first two but that's also cos I don't expect much of him. I'd much rather have Clyne start, but that's me.Really?? Well for what it's worth, both Walker and Dier were named man of the match by different factions and Rose certainly wasn't disappointing. Totally forgot about Dier, that's 2 out of 5 who imo were good.
That's funny, we all thought Walker was very meh, a few good moments but overall not great. But I was mostly disappointed by Kane and Alli, I have to say. I'm surprised that people aren't 'harsher' with Alli, he was pretty much non existent except for a beautiful piece of skill at some point. Sure he's young, but that doesn't really change his performance, it just explains it.Walker was fantastic throughout the match and easily one of England's best players (very much ahead of Clyne now and rightly so) - Rose did pretty well - Dier was possibly MOM - Alli did ok, nothing great but nothing particularly bad either (he is 20) - Kane didn't have a good game I'll give you that.

Yep, looks like he might join a long line of very good premier league striker, but not that good in wold/ European footballSurely he's lost his place after today?
Wales defence is no better than an average prem side and Russia were just appalling. the "step up in quality" isn't true at all.It could be that the step up in class required, has come too quickly for him. Remember, he is quite a young player, still.
He is used to playing for Spurs, but playing in front of a bigger crowd, against better players has shell-shocked him a little.
I think he should be given another opportunity to start, but if he performs badly, then at half time bring on Vardy and from here on in he will be our main striker.
In the group stages, we can afford to experiment a little, but in the next round, we can't afford any passengers, like Kane.
Should have lost it before today. He's lost without his well oiled Spurs team laying chances on a plate for him.Surely he's lost his place after today?
Yes tiredness, he's knackered, he's been playing football continuously for 2 years with hardly any rest. After the 14/15 season he went straight to the England U21 Euros, then back to club pre season training and preparation, then he played every game this season just gone, then straight to the England squad. I hope he's dropped for the rest of this tournament, he badly needs rest.Kane's looking a shadow of his Spurs form last season. Is it tiredness? has he succumbed to pressure? I don't know, but on the form of the internationals(from the pre-tourne friendlies to now) I think we should go with Vardy up top.

Dier sitting
Rooney and Lallana on the sides. These two will run themselves into the ground so will have to be replaced at some point.
Rose and walker have license to go up the pitch and in a pressing system this will suit them.
Its the best option we have, suits all the personnel and maximes the strengths of the squad. Roy just needs to let the shackles off.
The 4-3-3 was good but ultimately had no emd product which is what a front three containing Sterling and Lallana will get you. We need to put our genuine match winners on the pitch and players that are capable of killing teams. Vardy/Sturridge/Rashford would have put Russia to the sword.
No use looking good attacking without actually doing anything, I think if he lets the shackles off we can really burst in to life at this touney and surprise a few. If he carries on like hes started we'll go out with a whimper.

@shaggy The Russian and Welsh defences are not "better defences", the Welsh are all Premier League players !! As for bigger crowds, the French stadiums are normal football stadiums, the crowds are no bigger than the PL crowds in England. Kane is knackered, see above.
