I should add actually, it's not just what we spend. I think we've a bigger problem when we sell. We practically give players away at the prices we ask. I've no real issue with what we spend. We make our money to spend it. It's better then lining their pockets. It's just that if we sell, we have to be smarter. 9/10 we ask for too little.

I agree, but, more times then not when we sell we sell because they haven't done well, or too old and probably on big wages so that all goes into factors when trying to get rid of someone. I can only think of one player that we didn't want to go and that was Ronaldo where we got a world record fee at the time.
I highly doubt we will be hearing any concrete news on pogba till after the euros. Makes me want france to get knocked out tomorrow.
No he doesn't. We are Manchester United ffs. I have nothing against the smaller players. But we have to sign players for on and off field reasons. Just because a player like Joe Allen did really well for Swansea doesn't mean he could play for United. It's a huge step for any player. Kanye might be an exception because he actually looks a good player. But when it comes to transfers it ain't that simple. The t thewhole world is watching us. THere is no guarantee any signing is going to work out but the potential is higher for players with bigger reputations. Marketing is such part of Manchester United and we probably get more than half our revenue through marketing the club and our players. That's why we need high profile signings from time to time. We don't need only the big players but it helps when we do get them. And it's not like we can't afford it.
For me Hernandez is a 25 million pound player and that's what they should have paid. People talk about his form but he showed his quality at United and Madrid and he's scored plenty for Mexico. Rafael is another - injuries aside, he's a great prospect and I think we should have put him on a pay as you play actually - but I think he's worth far more then 2 million. Nani we let go for too cheap on the back of two injury hit seasons. Beckham we sold for too cheap to Madrid. I think Ronaldo should have been the first 100 million player to be honest. That said, I would have accepted 80 million + Robben

Having said i can't believe only one club would have been intrested in Hernandez so does seem too cheap and we would have been better keeping them.
Nani was on massive wages and a long contract so would have been difficult to off load (should kept him with the lack of pace on the right wing that the manager complained about). Rafael you have answered for me (i would prefer to have kept him).

If players aren't part of your plans - especially if they're not getting picked of if you've had them out on loan then nobody is going to pay top dollar for them.
yeah you have to call peoples bluff. Like other teams would.
Too much of an egoist. Can't ever see him becoming world class, despite his claims. 'I am a God' and the like. Needs to focus on his technique frankly.

Ruud, Hernandez were really the only unhappy ones out of those I mentioned. Ronaldo wasn't unhappy, he just wanted to play in Spain. In addition to that, it's the managers job to motivate and keep the players happy.

We got a world record fee for Ronaldo so I don't see why that's relevant.
A manager cannot keep a player happy if he doesn't rate him and is honest in telling him he won't play.
If you're a scout and its your job to know young talent across Europe and there is an 18year old starting in champions league games it should be fairly easy to spot, when the club is demanding a huge transfer fee you can be as sure as you can be that the lad is talented

Anyone know what the price being suggested is? RAWK seem to think it's £97.5m, some people on Twitter think it's over £110m and seen a few papers quote as low as £80m.
Somewhere between £65- £100m. There hasn't been anything concrete on this. (€120m has been mentioned a lot).
Just knowing a player isn't enough. We stepped in and bought him as soon as there was an opportunity to do so. It's said that other clubs like Barcelona didn't even expect him to be sold last season.

I think we shall make 1 more signing before the transfer window closes and I hope its Pogba.
I'm not too bothered, though, the biggest signing we made this Summer was Jose. That's the guy we needed 3 seasons ago and finally we got him.

He was well known in the football world the club stepped in because we were desperate for an attacking player not because we were desperate for Martial.
I feel the signings and everyone will agree over the last few years have been eye brow raising, how much on herrera? Is he better than cleverly? Another thread probably.
But 80+ mil for pogba I've never seen him produce enough to warrant that much.
You could take 95% of the players in the world with that much money and salary being quoted.
I'm not convinced he'll stay with United for long and I'm not convinced we'll recoup any money back off his next sale

For what it's worth, I do not think Pogba at £80m is a good deal for us either. For the likes of Barca, Madrid and Bayern, it would be.
