Agree. Not that it's my money but if we're looking how BEST to spend the available funds you have to question the transfer given the figures quoted.

£80 million(or whatever) for an attacking midfielder who only scored 10 goals last season. Playing in Italy. Worth remembering that Roy Keane, in a two man midfield, with loads more defensive responsibility was topping that.

He's a very good player but there must surely be a midfielder in the world who can get you 10 goals and his assists for £40 million. Otherwise what's happened to football?
 
I think those worried about the price need to think.....

If he was still a United player and progressed to the player he is now would we want to sell him to Real for 80-100 million pounds?

Cheers. I understand those points. There is another poster who brought up the point why Real Madrid's protection from Spain/Madrid which relates to the race for Pogba signature. I think it's within the scope of discussion why Madrid seem to opt out despite the Perez and Zidane rated Pogba highly in the past.

I said in one of my previous post that Madrid is not directly funded, but thrive on the influence. For example in the land case, even if Real just paid the real value back. The amount of money back then they had in hand was extremely valuable. Let's say someone misvalue/ way overprice your 50 grand backyard and give you 1 million euro back in the 70s and you happen to be a good businessman. Over a decade, you can make use of the money, then return 1 million euro, while keep the fortune you make out of it without paying interest. Now you have your backyard back and you can expand your house with the fortune you have to increase the overall property more! Win win situation for the landlord.

It's quite convenient too, for this condemnation to only be undergone when the heat was on in recent years.

He's not a £100 million player. A few fancy tricks and a couple of screamers doesn't make you world class. If thats true he only scored 10 goals last year then wtf are we doing even thinking about those figures? Please don't ask me who I'd prefer instead. All I kown is we shouldn't be careless spending that amount.

The biggest compliment you can give that header is that it reminded you of Cristiano Ronaldo. Praise for a header gets no better than that.
 
Can we just pass on this rather than be mugged for £100 m for a player that doesn't really want to be here....Yes I know he's just scored.
 
First from a monetary standpoint Pogba is definitely not worth that money in this current market. His global brand is nothing close to the likes of Zlatan or even Rooney. There are only limited amount of commercial opportunities and shirts people buy. Unless we buy Neymar for that figure we aren't making that money back. Also he'll probably leave for a lower price to the Spanish giants in a couple years.

Now from a footballing standpoint he's borderline worth that money depending on how much the team needs midfielders to create/score. Far better than Herrera or Rooney who could play in that position. Definitely a big upgrade. So if money doesn't matter and winning is all we care about, pull the trigger Woody.

No worry. It's just a discussion. There may be a chance Real Madrid is throughout innocent, and this is just hater speculation! After all they did it legally. Innocent until proven guilty. Cheers.

Definitely, just ahead of racism/ homophobia in the sport, hooliganism, the price of going to matches, the demand for instant gratification (on and off the pitch), foreign owners etc...

Exactly. If it pleases people to look at the back end... Being League Champions actually does have genuine commercial value.

Pogba's probably not coming, but he's better than every single midfielder at the club. Wouldn't give a damn if we bought him for 80m, never put his face on a single lunchbox, and he left on a free in five years. Not my money. Wouldn't hurt our club. Pretty sure he'd give us a pretty special 5 years.

Also, as a sidebar ::: little value in those that state 'He's not better than Modric, Verratti, Whomever...'. We're not signing those players either. It's another empty statement.
 
I know the club aren't stupid, so I'm hoping other targets are being pursued concurrently, because this is not happening, so it'd be daft to have put all the club's transfer eggs in this basket.

The disease of stupid fans, not realizing football is first a business. You could buy Griezmann and Kante for that sum and improve your team far more than Pogba alone could.
 
Mourinho loves him. he talked about him while at Chelsea. If there's a chance to sign him, he'll go all out for it.

There are lots of players superior to ours, it's the one benefit of being shit.
