Fergie didn't let him go at all, his failure to put trust in a youth player over playing a rightback and a winger in his place in midifeld is what resulted in him leaving.

120M€ is way too much for him when we can use this money in a better way. I'm afraid to think that all our issue will be solved with money money and money.
We see during this euros that the collective play is always more important than individuals, and we should have learned from the Di Maria / Falcao transfers that we won't solve eveything with splashing cash.
And to go further, Raiola is only interested to make this happen because of the 25M€ he could get by selling Pogba to us. I'm pretty sure that Madrid won't follow us on this amount, but Pogba would rather go there than come back to United.
It's silly money. I would rather buy another top top central defender for 50M and another midfielder for the other 70M.

So you think this was one of SAF mistakes? and he made a few of them. I can accept that and to a degree, agree with you.
Maybe getting away from United was what he needed, would he be the player he is now if he had of stayed ?

One of Fergies biggest mistakes, we've still not filled that gap in midfield in the 4 years since Pogba left and we've suffered massively for it. I'm pretty sure he would've been the same player if he was given the same oppotunities here. The thing I'm not sure about is whether he would've been willing to stick with us after 3 years of dross.

That was different...actually that summer they were bugging us about De Gea and we took them off the back pages. They set a price and we weren't interested to meet it. Madrid don't mind that and they won the CL. It's not the same situation. Ramos was 29 and has an awful disciplinary record.
Well you should ask that to SAF. What we do know is that Pogba moved to Juventus who had a much better CM then we did (Pirlo-Marchisio-Vidal) and he immediately won a first team place. At one point Marchisio who was hailed to become the next Italy and Juventus captain was close in leaving Juventus because he couldn't get games against a superior Pogba. If the 100m bid is true than by now, Juventus had benefited by at least 140m out of this player as Pogba was instrumental in allowing Vidal to leave to Bayern. They couldn't allow him to leave if they didn't had Pogba
So why would SAF let such quality leave? I've personally met the boy once when he was a Man United U21 youth and he seemed to be quite a nice guy whose only desperate to play football. Maybe he didn't want to break the news to his homegrown group (+Ando who was close to a testimonial game despite playing shite for years) that they weren't good enough/anymore and should pack their stuff and leave?
Anybody still moaning about the money should read @Malachians on twitter. Plenty of good points. Especially "Utd have to pay the Glazer family 90m a year in dividends but its the 90m for Paul Pogba that concerns you? Priorities."

I hope Di Marzio is right on this one. We are screaming out for creativity and goals from midfield, Pogba seems perfect. He also has a good physical presence and workrate. He's even looked good playing a deeper role in a pretty much unbalanced midfield for France in the Euros.

In a world where Crystal Palace are bidding 32 million pounds for a striker, and Watford are turning down 30 million pound bids, adding to the already inflated United tax, i guess 100-120 million becomes slightly plausible. Besides, as most said, if he is to leave in a 3-4 years, we would recoup most of the fee and make a profit.

Where did you get this info that Pogba is Adidas's trademark player? And yes, you are definitely underestimating Muller's global appeal as well.

We would be stupid to pay 120m for Pogba, to start with. 2nd, I highly doubt that he will be our midfield saviour, especially as I dont think he can play in a 2 men midfield. For two times 60m you get two absolutely fantastic fantastic players who, in the long run, could be more benefitial for us
If you guys are willing to give him up for $120, I will sponsor the transfer, his flight tickets and also the pick up at the airport.
In all seriousness though, this is a crazy fee. If we are stupid enough to pay it, Juve would be absolutely off their rockers to decline it.
Bang on. He needs a constant hardworker/runner like Vidal or Marchisio beside him to actually get the best out of him. Don't want him for those prices if he needs another top quality player to get him playing well.

Do you guys think Pogba will be worth less in two years time? It's not like the money is gone, per se. He either stays with us for the long haul or is sold for even more money. Looking at his physical presence and ability, I think he's odds-on to become better in the next few years, not worse, which means his value will rise. That money is not "spent", it is placed on the pitch where it belongs.
He works best in a midfield three. At Juve, his position is not even CM, but a bit wider. I have not seen anything to suggest he can play in a 2 men midfield and I doubt he has the discipline to do so.
If we buy him for 120m I doubt he will be worth more. If we buy him for 60m (unlikely), then yes.
I don't think he would lose any value at least, this guy can still improve and he will with his mindset.
So strange how people worry about the Glazers money so much.

Pogba is good but because of the silly money anything less that ripping apart the league will be considered a failure especially if TFM turns out to be a consistent performer
