Does anybody else worry Real Madrid after selling a player or two United may lose out?
Point is I think the money could be spent a lot better than on one player.
How would you play Martial, Ibra, MIki Targaryan, Rooney, Payet and Mahrez in the same lineup (that is without counting Depay, Rashford, Mata, Lingard and Januzaj)? Especially considering that Mourinho doesn't rotate.
Getting better value for money is one of the reason why we are here. Signing Young instead of Silva/Mata, signing Hernandez instead of Aguero or Kagawa instead of Hazard. We need to get genuine world class players if we want to compete with the top dogs, not to get better value for money. Especially considering that we have a lot of money but not many top players.
We could easily get matuidi AND Kroos for the same price we're planning on paying for pogba, I'd love pogba to come but the quoted price is stupid
The point is the poll asks if you would want Pogba for £100mil, not an alternative that we may or may not get. There's no indication that this will be the end of our spending either.

And where do you come to the conclusion that Kroos would want to come or Real are willing to sell?
Rooney would be a absolute mile away from any future united team meaning kante and Payet would easily get in. Admittedly mahrez is a stretch.
Pogba is a far better player than any of those. We also need to stop with this attitude of 'lets just sign a few random decent players' we need more than anything to build a team and when you look at Utd we have a talented squad but are just lacking a couple of world class players to push us to the next level. Pogba has all the attributes we need in midfield and so whatever the cost he should be our priority rather than taking this ridiculous 'value' approach.There is no value in the market anymore and the sooner everyone realises that thet better we will be. We have huge financial muscle its time we fecking show it and sign some genuine world beaters.

They are not 3 decent players they're 3 of the best players in the league. Payet is one of the best players in Europe right now and Kante was the leagues best midfielder last year.
I feel the numbers being floated in the news are exaggerated. I do think Juve will sell this summer, and i think they and Raiola are trying to up his price. £100m is over the top, i think he will go for £60-70m, 80 at most. Only way we're getting him is if RM is not willing to fork up the cash.

There was a comment on there earlier in the thread about how United fans think its still 99. In other words, we think we are a big club because we beat them in 99.

And yet all of them are a level below Pogba and they havent proven it for more than one season. Its not just about signing good players, its thinking about how to build a team lineup that works for Mourinho, in a way that is balanced and effective. I would have loved Mahrez here but then we signed Mkhitaryan so the RW slot is sorted, Kante plays the same role as Schniderlin and Payet the same role as Rooney so all those signings would do is add to selection headaches and unbalance us as a team. Thats been one of the biggest failings of our recent transfer dealings...signing the players without knowing how they fit in the team. Pogba fits in the team immediately in a position we are most in need of strengthening while offering all the attributes we need.
One final point those 3 would cost over 100...
Payet- £50-60
Mahrez-£50
Kante-£20-30
Fair enough, i think that midfield is shockingly unbalanced and would probably rather take my chances on Schniderlin-Rooney-Carrick again. But id much prefer a Schniderlin-Rooney-Pogba midfield as that elevates us to the next level.
All 3 have only had one good season. Payet would cost way too much as whu don't want to sell and is 29 so doing a massive bid just doesn't make sense and doesn't play in a position we need.
Kante would only be 20 million due to his release clause so if he was the answer why not just buy him aswell but he doesn't resolve lack of creativity in central midfield.
Mahrez while he is a good player he won't come cheap as they won't want to sell and have plenty of money, also is not a cm so we could go for him but doesn't resolve the our main issue.

Well...I'd be happy with them instead of Pogba.
BUT, why do you think that their agents would be fine with selling those two players for less than what Pogba's agent is asking.
I mean, some think Kroos is better thank Pogba. If I were Real why would I NOT ask for at least 100 million for Kroos? And why would Kroos be an easier land than Pogba?
Whatever. I just thought of a few examples. It's clear a lot of you want to sign him for £100 million and that's fine, I just happen to think we can spend the money a bit better elsewhere. If we do sign him I hope he delivers

Fits with everything else we've heard so far. Real Madrid are interested but don't want to pay £100m+ for him.
Your posts makes sense because:
- Pogba is 23 years now and we all know 4-5 clubs are capable to acquire him for £120m in 2019.
- Inflation will continue in the 4-5 years at least given the appetite of Chinese clubs & new exotic investors.
I'm not a big fan of Pogba but I won't be shocked or surprised.
United need to set a buy-out clause on his contract of 120M+ to stop selling for cheaper.
So basically you plonk yourself in the middle and sing 'que sera, sera'...but at least have some lube stored just in case. I like the thinking

Agree with this sentiment. I think the 100m fee is just a way of putting off Madrid and possibly calm Juve fans or critics. Miki was said to be 35m but actual fee is 26m
Jose said Rooney will not be playing in the midfield tho.
I'm heavily invested in this one now. I'm convinced he's coming.
