Ok. So let's assume - for the sake of argument - that Kante and Payet combined are as good as one Pogba and maybe even cost less (no and no). Umm, but they take up two spots in the 11! I'd much rather pay more for the single player who ensures I get a second physical player I can play!
This is the primary reason why I don't understand people who say "but for that price we could buy 2 or 3 players or 675 infant footballers from Africa". You can't have more than 11 players on the pitch which is why the best players command a premium. They do a job alone that it would take more than one ordinary / good players to do and free up spots for others.

IMO it is more likely that Matuidi is the "fourth target" - a practical, needed and achievable target like the other three, and then Pogba is one of those "if a special player becomes potentially available then you have to try and sign him regardless"
How can you say that when in his first season he led the assist chart with Fabregas? He certainly showed he was good enough for the league, it was just horrible man management and lack of mental strength that made his performance suffer toward the end of the season.
If Pogba does the same as Di Maria, I will be excited only if he can continue that performance throughout the season. I believe Pogba is the right player we need to strengthen our team and compete for the title because he will greatly strength an important area of our midfield and is also capable of producing magical moment. The alternative to not getting Pogba in our current squad is either Fellaini, Blind, Herrera or Schweinstiger. Although these are not the worst option, they are not the standard that will give us that competitive advantage that you see with other top teams. These players are a tier or two below the top tier of midfield.
Either way, I do not believe you need a top tier midfield to gain success. It just gives you an advantage as I mentioned before. We can still attain success with the midfield players listed as the alternative.

I think with MH as our amc we dont really need to spend 100m on a midfielder right away. I wont be dissapointed tonget pogba but i would not be desperate to spend 100m on him. Kante is a great player, adds energy and protection. Wpuld allow ander to push up more
If what Balague says is true then do we really want a player who doesn't even want to play for us?? especially for a world record fee.?? ADM comes to mind straight away. Regardless of Pogba's potential, I would prefer a player who is willing to give everything for the club, not just for a 300k salary.

No, it's a matter of pride, if we get back to title wins, (which I firmly expect under Mourinho in the next couple of years) more players will want to stay than leave a club of our size even for real and barca.

I get what you mean, but honestly, few players have attachment to their clubs nowadays. Out of our current players, I don't think many would stay if Barca/Real came calling and we had no say in the matter. The English players probably, but not many others. The only way to change that is to get United back to the very top.
If u spend 100m on a player, thats a position guarenteed. You spend 30m on kante u have a squad player. Would allow fosu to have more game time.
I really like Greizman but after signing Mhiki and Zlatan and we have Martial we have more of a need for a CM. I don't think he is worth 100m however I couldn't care less we need a top CM and he is one.

Just a thought, but Kroos is absolutely incredible and would cost half the price. Letting Pogba go to Madrid would hopefully open the door for Kroos to come to Utd. I know most of you prefer Pogba, but if you have been watching the Euros then you will appreciate how good Kroos is.
